[Barkeep pushed himself off the ground and ran over to Kobato as Annie watched. Why was she here? She's too young to put herself in danger!]

Can you get up? [He tugged on her arm with one hand as he held his staff in the other.] Lemme patch you up first.

[A nearby building became to flame, yet the air around the two Heroes did not get hotter.]

I'm fine, really. I can patch myself up should I need do.

[She moved to stand up, she didn't notice the fact it wasn't all that hot really, but then again heat was something she didn't know an awful lot about.]

Are you okay though, mister? You need to get moving.

Yourself?! [Without waiting, the Barkeep rested the tip of his staff on Kobato's forehead.]

Cure.

[The scrapes she got from running around heal.]

I'm not movin' until this fire's put out! Did you see what happened to my house! [He swings an arm back towards the pile of ash.] We can't let this fire cause us any more trouble!

[As he was speaking, Annie was running to the false fire wielding buckets of water. For some reason, it wasn't working...]

...Mister? Does this fire looks weird, kupo? [She stuck a paw into the flame and-yeah. It's not burning her.]

Uh...thank you, but as I said I could of healed myself.

[She was a Maxed White Mage and had been for a little while, but see was always happy when she got the help instead and maybe a little puzzled.]

But small buckets of water won't work with a fire that big! [Itwas just as she said those words that Ursa had gone over to the other moogle, testing out what was just said.]

That's odd, kupo! It really isn't burning. But how could that be?

[Kobato paused for a bit.] So...Fire is suppose to burn, yet it isn't? Could it be because it really isn't there? Like an illusion? [But who would want to do that and why?]

Well, it's just instinct to heal others. [Give him a chance to feel just as powerful as he was on Mars.]

An Illusion? Like...[He raises his eyebrows.] There's one of them Empire soliders behind this. Of course.

[He holds out a hand for Kobato to grab and pick herself up.] Then we know what kind of guy to be on a lookout for. C'mon, Annie!

[The Moogle quit staring at the fake fire and flew back to her Hero.] What're your plan, kupo? This city is enormous!

Then, I will thank you. I do appreciate the help.

[She nodded slightly.] It could be.. I mean when I first arrived I met someone who was an illusionist. But..it could be someone else.

[She went to Ursa carefully taking her away from the illusion fire. Thinking about where to look.]

Well... I don't think they could be far away from what illusion they create, but I don't know a lot about the job, that is just a guess.

[The Barkeep smiled.] Lucky for us, I'm an Illusionist. Not as good as whoever's behind this, but I understand how it works. You'll need to be close to the fire you're creatin', so wherever more fake stuff pops up, that's we're we'll find 'em.

[With that, he signaled to Annie.] Let's head that way. Water's not gonna do much for these fires anyway. Let that to the mages.

D-Do I come with you, or do you not want me to follow?

[She didn't know what she could do right now since well... she wasn't a Black Mage right now. Unless she could use a summoning to help her in some way maybe...]

Come with me, I need as much help as I can get.

[And away he goes! He stops by partially-burned houses to search for living people inside: Hero, Imperial, or civilian.]

Right, so what can you do wit your Jobs?

[She followed close by, keeping his staff close to her person, stopping by a house as she soon started to step in to quickly check before coming out again.]

I have White Mage and Summoner equipped so not an awful lot. Maybe I could stop the fire with Shiva, but I don't know if that would be good or not.

[Fortunately, there weren't many people staying behind in the 14th District, but unfortunately, the Illusionist wasn't hiding anywhere near Kobato and the Barkeep.

He crossed his arms.] White Mage and Illusionist. Good for helping' folks out, but not too great for fighting fires or people. [He cocked his head.] How do you reckon you can put out the fire?

Oh! I never thought to have those two jobs together before. I have Illusionist myself, just not currently equipped.

[She paused slightly, trying her hardest to think of a way.]

Well, I guess the weather helps with some of it, but maybe we will need more water or ice. I could use Shiva, but that could just damage buildings more.

Not my decision! Woke up wearing all these clothes, probably as an apology for takin' my powers away. Doesn't make up for everythin', though.

[Where are his dimension-hopping abilities? What happened to the power to bring everyone back to life?]

Most of these homes are rubbed by now. You can use that Shiva thing on those. Less fire's always good.

I never had powers before, so I don't think it was to say sorry, they just wanted help and couldn't do it that way. At least this is just a very wild guess from me.

[She nodded slightly, but at the same time she didn't really want to cause a bigger mess. But ice turned into water when melted so it wouldn't be a bad thing, right?]

I can try.. but if it doesn't end up well... Then I guess I'm sorry.

[For now she moves so she is a decent distance from the other as she soon started the summoning, using the movements that she remembers until the summoning arrived, using Diamond Dust to cover a large area in ice.]

...Maybe that really wasn't the best idea.

In your case, maybe. In mine [he juts a thumb at himself] they take somethin' that would've fixed this whole mess in minutes, and they think a bit of healin' magic and copyin' attacks will do any good.

[But if he is an Illsionist, might as well use that mimicking ability when a summoner is next to him. Barkeep copies Kobato's movements, the crystal guiding his body, and after Shiva covers the area with ice, Barkeep summons even more, and the entire street is fire-free, with an obviously fake one still burning in front of them.]

Well. That takes care of this neighborhood.

You mean this whole city mess, or everything in general?

[She wanted to be sure so that she didn't sound overly stupid by making such a wild guess again.]

I-It does, but do you think we could have damaged it more than actually helped it?

[She really didn't hope so, since right now it kind looked like a frozen wasteland.]

That is a very good question! To be honest, it would've fix this whole Calamity trouble in minutes! Then I'd send everyone home, and that'd be the end of that.

Cosmic space powers, you see? On Mars, I got the strongest force in the universe residin' inside of me. Don't use them too often, just to be safe, but I like to think I use 'em responsibly for the good of the planet.

[Well...those houses are certainly not on fire anymore.]

We took away some fuel, I guess. And one that ice melts, it'll wash more of the fires out. [He holds a hand to his mouth in concern.] Only if it floods, that'll cause more trouble for the city, and we can't have that.

...I hope those houses needed to be rebuilt anyway

How would it have helped the problem? Although you mention cosmic space powers, but I still don't quite get it.

[She tilted the head problem, she had no idea of anything right now so hadn't a clue how his powers would have worked.]

I just hope it won't flood then... Though I do have a fire summon, so that could help.

It's called the Force Galactic. Long story how I got them, but I'll tell you later. Anyway, [He puffed his chest, glanced over the iced homes, and turned towards another fire.] I ended up bein' omnipotent. Time travel, dimension-hoppin' chest lasers, weather control, teleportation, trackin', fortune-tellin', you name it! Once I figured out what's causin' the Calamity, I could've gone straight to the root of the problem! Heck, I'd teleport us all there, destroy it, then takes us to our home dimensions once we were done!

[Unfortunately, some bozo took his powers and let Aqures Ixen burn.]

Whoever brought us here mustn't like us too much.

You think they don't like us?

[She wasn't sure, they always seemed so happy to see them and that in turn had made her happy. She she had listened quietly as he had spoken about his powers. That was an awful lot right there.]

How do chest lasers work? I know robots can have them maybe, I read that in a comic.

Takin' our real powers from us? That's some form of sabotage right there. Those Biggs and those other fellas say they don't decide who comes, but once we find out who does, I'm givin' them a piece of my mind.

[He raises his healing staff triumphantly.]

...But I'll need somethin' better than this.

It's kinda like a comic. I think about the cosmic energy surroundin' me and focus in all in my chest. Then it beams out. I never really had a chance to use it on people, but I've been practicin' on Felton's bottle collection. He got mad at me after he found out I was usin' 'em, so I moved onto other planets and practiced shootin' plants.

What if it's the world that decides? [probably totally out of the park, but Kobato does think the oddest things. She gives a small somewhat awkward laugh.]

Though I don't think that makes any sense at all. But who or what could make such a choice like that? It doesn't make much sense. [She holds up her own staff, she didn't think it was that bad.] The staff isn't bad. It helps me anyway.

[She listened to him explaining the whole laser thing and within a few moments her eyes widen slightly.]

Why would you shoot planets though? Poor planets.

The world? [Realization dawned.] Sort of like how "the universe" decides what can't or can't be done. Like how Croach was "forbidden" from fightin' evil Jim himself.[He nodded sagely. It all started to makes sense. Still, that wasn't nice of you, Crystallis.]

If I want to beat some sense into them, I'll need more than a wooden stick and healin' powers. I can try to copy that dance you did, as long as you attacked first. Still, it'd be nice to get up and personal with fightin'.

[Barkeep stopped in his tracks and waved a hand in front of Kobato.] Not planets, kid. I'd never kill a whole planet like that! No, I prefer to be precise in my laser trainin'. A flower over here, that leave up above. Don't want to cause a mess in space-time while protectin' my place.

[She was still more than a little confused at most of what he was saying, but she tried her best to nod slightly, all the while still listening.]

I think that is why I got the jobs I did though because I don't want to hurt people, I want to help them. So for me this was what they believe I would be best at. Maybe that was what they thought with you as well.... Even if that does kind of sound rather insulting in which case I am sorry.

[She still pouted slightly.]

I see, but that still isn't very nice for the poor flowers and such.

I didn't use 'em for hurtin', just helpin'. You know, openin' portals to other dimensions, restrictin' trim travel for evil counterparts, lettin' their good alternate selves shoot them instead, bringin' a friend back to life, making' hamburgers and ice cream...regular things, you know?

Hey. I can always bring those flowers back when I'm done. [Not that he ever did, but he won't say that out loud.]
