[There is a difference between overconfidence and tangible competency, no matter how one can be mistaken for the other quite often, and being the latter Sephiroth narrows his eyes just slightly as he meets Robin's eye contact.

Being cut from a similar cloth, so to speak, he'd find it easy to tell those frayed edges of resolve if it were overconfidence speaking. To have overconfidence, in this situation would be as bad as being hesitant - both carried exactly the same risks.

In this instance, he's satisfied and can't help but feel a little comforted that he's not the only one truly competent in facing such a situation - strange as it is to see the same in a female!]
