She was able to find one of the Eidolons for someone. I want to know how she did it.

That's a good idea. If she can do it again, we might be able to get even more of them on our side.

Right. And every little bit helps.

I hope she's a little more forthcoming with information about this. I've struck out completely trying to learn about crystals.

[Alice raises an eyebrow.]

You know, this isn't the first time I've heard something like that. I'm starting to get a little suspicious...

Every time, she says she's too busy to take on a student or an assistant. But wouldn't having an assistant free her up more?

Very suspicious....


Are we really sure we can trust her at all?

[scriptrix]

Who else can we trust, though? She and Biggs and Wedge have lived in this world their whole lives. It's only natural they know more than us.

[playing_hearts]

Isn't it obvious? We need to start finding our own answers to the questions we have.

[scriptrix]

Maybe you're right. I've actually been thinking about enrolling at the university and studying crystal energy from the ground up. I'm sure it'll take longer, but it's better than nothing.

[playing_hearts]

I wonder....

Do you think it would be feasible to create our own research facility? There might be heroes that already have a scientific background...

[scriptrix]

Our own facility?

[That's pretty ambitious.]

It would be a lot of work, but I guess we could try... but where would we get all the equipment from?

[playing_hearts]

I didn't say it would be easy.

[But she's already making a mental list of the things they'll need to do to get this off the ground.]

Has she ever let anyone inside her lab? Just to see what sort of equipment she's using?

Yeah, she lets people inside to talk to her. I've been there once myself.

Okay, then the first step is to send someone in there with both good observational skills and a scientific background. They should be able to at least get an idea of what we need to get set up.

Do you know anybody like that? I don't think I've met anyone with that kind of expertise...

Not so far. Once this is over, we'll have to ask around.


....Carefully though. We don't want them to find out too soon.

That's true. I don't think they'd take very kindly to the idea that we're trying to set something like that up.

[playing_hearts]

Probably not. But it's not as if we're interfering with what they want to do.

[Unless what they want to do is hinder the heroes of light. But then at least they'd know for sure.]

Yeah, but they might get the wrong idea about it.

[playing_hearts]

Of course we'll try to keep it a secret. But if they do find out, don't you think their reaction will tell us quite a bit?

Their reaction is what I'm worried about. But it's not enough of a reason not to try.

[Alice snorts derisively.]

I'm not. Honestly, if even half of the things I've heard about Jessie are true, she should be expecting this.

She probably is. Jessie's always two steps ahead of everything, it seems like.
