Re: The End of Aqures Tosf
Thanks to her new abilities of evasion and counter attack, she managed to follow the cries for help relatively unscathed.
Intellectually, she knew she shouldn't do this--save anyone who hadn't survived before--but emotionally...
If what the Princess had said was true, weren't they responsible for this slaughter in the first place? Coming up to a group being attacked, Sheena immediately went into action, putting herself between the monsters and their intended victims, barking orders at the townspeople. ]
All of you! Get out of here! Find someplace safe--like the church! GO! NOW!
[ If anyone following her had lost her, she'd certainly be easy to locate now. ]

[Running through the streets, he heard a familiar voice trying to evacuate civilians. Sigh. Foolish.]
What are you doing?
[He demanded, coming around to see her about to fight. Or more like offering herself as a sacrifice to the seemingly never-ending flood of monsters.]
no subject
Just wait until she finds out that if something is supposed to happen, Fate and Time have a way of making it happen anyway.
Hearing a familiar, she glanced in his direction and glared. ]
What the hell does it look like I'm doing?
[ And as if on cue, one of the monsters came at her, and drawing her katana, the ninja avoided the attack and aiming for its head, lashed out at the creature with her blade. ]
no subject
[He drew his own blade, slicing down into a second monster that unwisely charged him.]
This place is about to be destroyed, we need to go.
no subject
[ And she took down a monster of her own with a swipe or two of her katana. ]
I know this place is about to be destroyed, but people need to be saved!
no subject
[Another monster was kicked away then speared, the katana yanked back with a spurt of blood.]
Trying to save these people is pointless!
[Couldn't she see? These people were already dead! Interfering now could potentially make things worse later, if it made a difference at all. They had to move, now, lest they be destroyed with the city! They had to get to the temple, to the crystal, and hope that there was some chance of it sending them home!]
no subject
[ She knows that. Knows that their futures have already been decided. And also knows that their arrival can't just be horrible coincidence. Taking out her own monster, she turns to him with a growl. ]
That doesn't mean they don't deserve every last second of life we can give them!
[ If they were responsible for this, then it's the least they can do--even if in that infinite space of time all they can do is make peace with whatever god they worshiped. ]
no subject
[Albel stared at her incredulously and enraged. This was a useless and unnecessary risk!]
These people are living their last seconds now. We still have to get back to the right time!
Ready to carry her off?
You don't get it, do you? These monsters only appeared after we did! As far as I'm concerned, that's not a coincidence! And even if it is, I'll be damned if I let a mistake somewhere prevent me from helping them.
[ Stepping away, she gives him a stern look. Right now, she can care less about her life; she's fighting to help others. ]
If you want to go, fine. I won't stop you. But unless you plan on moving me bodily from this spot, I'm staying put.
[ And she turns back, her katana at the ready. ]

Wrap up?
The End of Aqures Tosf
Sephiroth, who had finally left the church to join the fray, dove out of a nearby alleyway and shoulder bumped Sheena out of the way. The sound of metal impacting against metal and then scraping loudly could be heard-]
Argh-
[The tension broke and the silver haired warrior won out. His broadsword flared almost as if it was made of fire, as Flame Tongue was used and a moment later the sahagin was forced back only to meet with the scorching blade as it was dragged across it's torso as the monsters guard was lowered.
Not until the monster had slumped to the ground, did Sephiroth turn to look over his shoulder - still in the navy-blue of his Esdham military jacket. Long tendrils of silver hair finally settling back into place behind him.]
You OK?
no subject
Of course, that would be when she was bodily shoved out of the way, eliciting a loud "Hey!" before coming to a halt and abruptly turning to confront her attacker. And mentally rolled her eyes when she saw who it was.
Couldn't he have given her some kind of warning?
It only took a second for her to know he had things under control and spent her time getting the civilians the heck out of there. She didn't have time to be nice, so the orders came fast and furious--almost like machine-gun fire.
By the time they were cleared, Sephiroth had finished, and she turned to him. ]
Thanks. [ She gave a small nod. ] I'm all right. How about you?
no subject
Besides even if he had given warning, it wouldn't have made any difference. Given his focus on the monster before him, Sephiroth only barely heard Sheena as she continued in the background not too far away, getting civilians to head around another way. If there even was a 'safe' way around, any more.
He nods to her when she nods back and then turns his attention forwards again. Scanning widely for where might need his blade next. His sword limp in his left hand for the time being.]
Given the circumstances, could be better. [A shrug.]
But it's better to think about what we can do, rather than what we can't.
no subject
[ She's just going to have to remember that not everyone is a yeller like her and to be just a little more vigilant.
And not let her unfamiliarity with the monsters here get the better of her. As soon as she can she's going to go to the library and do some studying up on these guys.
That's for later, though; when they go back to the future. Right now, as Sephiroth scans the area ahead of them, Sheena is covering the rear, her head seeming to barely move. Glancing back at him, she makes a sound of agreement. ]
I think we all can say that.
[ Satisfied that everything is all right, she steps up next to him. ]
I agree. So, what can we do now? As far as I can tell, everyone got away, but maybe I should take another look.
[ And she starts to do just that with barely a step because he wouldn't want to stop her or anything, right? ]
no subject
Not so for the sahagin that now twitches on the ground to one side of them]
The next block. I have a hunch where all of this is going to accumulate.
[The Crystal of Fire. He doesn't know for certain yet as he's not fought so far into the City but given what he knows of events-to-come it's a well founded guess.
Sephiroth won't stop Sheena from taking another look locally with regard to if there are civilians that still need to flee, but he does take a step in the direction of the corner of that particular block.]
Are you game?
[Awkward and stubborn he might be socially but put Sephiroth in a combat situation and he becomes nearly a completely-other person. Direct, confident and commanding.]
no subject
Both options help the civilians, but the second is much quicker if they could get to those monsters in one place.
In a moment, Sheena had made her decision and steps over to Sephiroth's side. She's familiar with time and its mechanics and whether this is a hunch or knowledge of the future on his part; all she's concerned with is making sure these people are kept safe. ]
I'm game.
[ And just the opposite is Sheena. She's friendly and outgoing, but when it comes to battle, she's more than serious, fighting with pride and honor. ]
Let's go.
no subject
Besides, Sephiroth's personal sword technique is more suited to longer, wider slashes even if currently Masamune is not with him nor even usable with his current job configuration. It's better, against many than being overkill against one.
He hums shortly and then nods to Sheena, quickly flashing a smile before turning, drawing his broadsword in closer to his frame and breaking out into a steady jog towards the end of the street. If he's got his bearings right -which could be wrong considering how often he'd ventured out of the Church in the last week- then they should be heading more towards the center of town.]
no subject
Luckily, Sheena's technique is better suited for one-on-one, and has been since before she arrived. And thanks to her own current configuration, she has a little more "oomph" and surprise to her attacks and defense.
Sheena returns his smile easily before joining him in his jog, trusting his judgment and sense of direction. Sheena had only been out and about once--maybe twice--so her familiarity with the city was almost nil. But if it was like any other city she had been in, the nearer to the center they got, the closer and more cramped it would feel. ]

hope this is cool?
Her sword slashed down the monsters that were in the way. My, what a turn out of things. Heroes of Light certainly had a bad ring to it. ]
You look like you could use a hand.
[ She replied, hiding her usual disposition under a more serious mask. ]
It's fine! I've just been having trouble with notifs.
And to find Sheena, all one has to do is listen for a strident voice raised in volume. For a ninja, Sheena isn't always the quietest person around.
Taking out her own monster, the girl looks at the newcomer and nods. ] Thanks! I'm not used to these kinds of creatures.
[ Or using a katana as a primary weapon. ]
awesome. and don't worry about it too much !
Selen sends another row of monsters into oblivion before chuckling and speaking again. ] It's fine dear. Do what you got to do and I have your back.
[ Selen mused. While Sheena wasn't used to using swords, Selen was exceptionally skillful with them, so she was moving rather fluidly through the monsters, to let Sheen do what she wanted. ]
Thanks!
Thanks.
[ She hesitated a moment as she watched the other woman's skill with her weapon before herding the civilians who had wandered in to the area towards a safer area.
She could marvel at Selen's skill later, she had to take of these people first. ]
Go! Move that way! We've got you covered!
NP!
You don't need to thank me, just keep doing what you need to do, sweetheart
[ She chuckled at the other's response. Selen was taking them down one by one while making sure that Sheena was able to lead people away from the battle damage. Sheena was unbelievably calm in this situation too as she was helping the citizens escape. Selen was curious about her. ]
no subject
Besides, it's not too hard to remain calm when you come from a world where encounters with monsters are an everyday occurrence. ]
All right! Be careful!
[ She protects and worries about everyone, Selen; it's her way. It's also her way to take out a monster that had decided one of the civilians looked like a good target.
Not on her watch. ]
no subject
Don't worry your pretty head about me~
[ She replied with a big jump at another handful of monsters. Her sword cleaved them without much effort and if there were more, she started using her job abilities to clean them up faster. That's fine and Selen will tell her to keep watching the civilians more than her is all. ]
no subject
Chuckling wryly, Sheena turned back to the woman while showing more civilians which way to go. ]
Yeah. I can see you know what you're doing. Let me guess. You come from a world with monsters, too?
