Where: Aqures Tosf.
When: Night of August 03rd, twenty-eight years in the past.
Summary: As the Heroes of Light were transported to the past, it is now the conclusion of their time travel adventure. It is the final night of the Festival of Light and the city is filled with visitors-- As such, it is estimated there are currently at least a few million people on the Island. Can they be saved?
Warning: Terrible things.

[Indeed, the princess's words were no understatement. The Heroes already in the city would be able to see monsters appearing out of nowhere, monsters not even native to this region. Golems were smashing the residences in the Second District whilst Chimeras were causing chaos amongst the exposition. Wyverns were attacking the Health Center, Ochus were attacking the Blitzball Stadium-- There was even a lone Hamster standing by the entrance to the castle.

Oh, and there were a lot of treasure chests. As tempting as they may have been though, they were all Mimics.

Some lights could be seen flying away at very high speed-- Probably a few scared Moogles escaping. They didn't know it yet, but what could be seen as an act of cowardice just saved their lives.

Humans, Tarutarus and Hypellos weren't that lucky on their end and couldn't flee, especially with most boats either not ready or being smashed to pieces by monsters. Many were screaming for help while being killed by monsters--

But is there really a point to helping them if they cannot leave the island anyway?]

[Words fail her. In the many sights she's seen in the few short years of her life, even the massacre at Nibelheim seemed like a fairy tale compared to the devastation and suffering she was now witnessing from the edge of the city limits. She stood and watched for what felt like an hour, only mere moments, just before dashing at full speed to minimize what little she can as dread and death take up residence where harmony and peace once lived.

It's futile. She knows that. It's all too difficult to not see when she passes by numerous persons and creatures that are too far gone to be worth any effort. If she can save a few, if she can get any to safety, it would be worth passing by alleys and homesteads that she knows are death traps.

Fire and ash surround her, dust settling on her face and littering her body with soot. She looks more like one of them, the frantic and hysterical citizens, save for her struggle against trying to topple a monster in her path. She shouts above the din, the crying and suffering drowned out for a moment as her throat summons the most important instruction she could ever bark above a fight. Her only hope is that her cry fills what few remain with resolve, emboldens them, sets them to their feet with what manner of weapons they can afford, and that the casualties are ceased with it.]

FIGHT! FIGHT WITH EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT! DON'T LET THEM TAKE THIS LIFE FROM YOU! IT ISN'T THERE'S TO STEAL! PICK UP WHATEVER YOU CAN GRAB AND FIGHT BACK!

[Cloud didn't join the defense of the city until he was sure that Sarah was safely away. Maybe their presence there wouldn't do much, maybe it would. What Cloud did know was that he couldn't simply let the young princess be left to the whims of fate. Not if he could lend a hand. Even if it was what was meant to happen all along, it didn't matter.

And speaking of people he was fated to protect.

Cloud's eyes widen as he sees Tifa in the fray. He hasn't seen her in what feels like months now and finally seeing her again makes his heart sing, even amidst the terrible disaster befalling Aqures Tosf. He grins as he watches her lay a monster low and even wider as she calls to the people to fight for their lives.

In the end he's left with nothing to say or save her from as he finally reaches her. Instead he turns and pushes his back to her own, raising his gunblade and shield against any oncoming enemies. He's here to fight alongside her, not to protect her, but he's still got her back.]

[Her footsteps were silent like a shadow moving overhead. Her shoulders and clothing were lightly brushed with soot but not enough to show that she had been fighting. In fact, Yuffie is running, she's running towards the cause of this mess; the Fire Crystal.

Her steps slow as she catches sight of Tifa. She doesn't remember the last time she'd saw her friend fight so hard and for a moment she was reminded of home. She is reminded of their quest which left her heart aching.

Doesn't she know it's useless.]

Tifa... [Yuiffe shifts beside her becoming visible among the mass of creates. The young princess could easily dodge from their path so she had no worry of their attacks. It is Tifa that her gaze is set on.]

What are you doing? You can't save this place! You already know the future!!

[It is the same with Sephiroth and the sooner she sees it the sooner that she won't be hurt anymore. Cloud isn't going to protect her and so Yuffie's going to; by throwing the truth into her fact until she can't ignore it anymore.]

[She'd done her best to hold her punches some what with her old friend, but in a moment like this when she's fully aware of what the future holds, she isn't one to let the world have its way.

She walks towards Yuffie, moving quick enough to grab her by the shoulder of her top to make her intentions known through not only words, but by the ferocity of her hold.]

It's because I know the future that I'm going to try! I don't care what we're told! I'm not going to stand by and let people die, at least not without trying! It's better to at least do something than to ignore it! Now you can either help me or get out of the way!

[Yuffie doesn’t try and move away. If Tifa wants to punch her then she can. It’s what friends are for. Except that Yuffie can’t just let her keep acting like this. She understands what Tifa is saying the problem is that it had stemmed from nowhere. For so long Tifa did nothing and that fact alone made Yuffie’s gaze narrow at her old comrade.]

You know the future? So you aren’t going to ignore it anymore? THEN WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING WITH SEPHIROTH PLAYING FUCKING HOUSE WITH THE GUY.

[Her head and voice lower as if expecting Tifa to hit Yuffie. It takes everything she has not try cry.]

You’re the one that’s in the way. I’ve been fighting and fighting and trying to help but what have you been doing? Even now I’m running to try and stop this and you telling me that I’m not doing anything. You’re THE ONE THAT’S IGNORING THE FUTURE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!

[Tazendra didn't recall how large the destruction was/would be. What she knew was that even if the people here were doomed, they shouldn't have to die afraid and in pain from monsters.]

[And, if she was going to die (again) here, she wanted to do it with sword in hand.]

[she had stopped to explain this to a family she had rescued.]

You may try to flee, but what is coming may take the entire island. Or you may stay to stop the monsters, though you will most likely die in the aftermath.

[She was trying to sound serious about this; people of the Empire didn't mind when a Dzurlord seemed a bit giddy in a high-stakes battle, because that was normal behavior for them. Here she was learning that her enthusiasm was considered unsettling.]

Olivier draws her sword and steps up beside Tazendra. "It may be a fruitless battle, but I won't stand down from it."

She gives Tazendra a confident look before charging at the closest monster.

"We are in agreement then!"

Tazendra turned to the battle Olivier had joined, trusting that the family would decide whatever they would decide

[There is fire and monsters and more death than there was before. She knows the cities fate but she can’t sit back and do nothing. It hasn’t been that long since she groveled beneath the weight of her uncertainty but she isn’t going to do that anymore.

Her dress, which was once bright and vibrant, is now marred with soot and dust and blood. Her arms and legs are littered by small scratches that she’s dismissed as the fight wages around her. Her bright blue gaze locks on the dark element before her as she casts ultima towards the creature. A dark orb crashed into the element and it was gone. Without waiting Terra turns towards the next thing getting ready for another attack.

She’d protect those running from the city, no matter what it took.

Terra’s gaze is determined as she moves forward. There are so many things giving her strength to fight but there is something more than that behind her actions. A feeling of warmth swells in her chest as she steps forward, fighting for herself and those she cares about. It doesn’t matter what sort of love it is because she knows it’s real and that gives her strength.]

[Tsubomi was busy trying to fight smaller fires, get closer to other people. She felt a more than a little helpless here but she was going to handle things the best she could. Seeing Terra here, an almost completely different Terra than the one she ran into just days earlier, was something of a shock. Which was why she casted the healing spell on her before approaching.]

N-Need a little bit of help?

[Terra nods before turning towards more of the creatures that flooded towards them. She brought her palms together before throwing another ultima at the group.

She glances behind her, watching as the people ran away and tried to escape.]

They need to get off the island.

[ Whether or not she had succeeded in convincing Sephiroth--or anyone else--Sheena wasn't about to just stand around and do nothing. So, with a simple "I'm going!" she was out the door and in the thick of battle before anyone could possibly stop her.

Thanks to her new abilities of evasion and counter attack, she managed to follow the cries for help relatively unscathed.

Intellectually, she knew she shouldn't do this--save anyone who hadn't survived before--but emotionally...

If what the Princess had said was true, weren't they responsible for this slaughter in the first place? Coming up to a group being attacked, Sheena immediately went into action, putting herself between the monsters and their intended victims, barking orders at the townspeople. ]

All of you! Get out of here! Find someplace safe--like the church! GO! NOW!

[ If anyone following her had lost her, she'd certainly be easy to locate now. ]

[Albel had half a mind to stay in the Church like Sephiroth. What was the point to doing anything? But with the monsters outside, he realized this might be a good time to get into the Temple and see what was going on.]

[Running through the streets, he heard a familiar voice trying to evacuate civilians. Sigh. Foolish.]

What are you doing?

[He demanded, coming around to see her about to fight. Or more like offering herself as a sacrifice to the seemingly never-ending flood of monsters.]

[ The point was, Sheena couldn't give a damn about the laws of time travel. People were in trouble, so she was going to do something about it.

Just wait until she finds out that if something is supposed to happen, Fate and Time have a way of making it happen anyway.

Hearing a familiar, she glanced in his direction and glared. ]

What the hell does it look like I'm doing?

[ And as if on cue, one of the monsters came at her, and drawing her katana, the ninja avoided the attack and aiming for its head, lashed out at the creature with her blade. ]

[As Sheena turned to bark at the latest group of panicked citizens, a lone sahagin had thought to use this opportunity to strike. It was on a rooftop above Sheena at the time and in a single movement leaped with it's long trident coming down like a great spike of doom.

Sephiroth, who had finally left the church to join the fray, dove out of a nearby alleyway and shoulder bumped Sheena out of the way. The sound of metal impacting against metal and then scraping loudly could be heard-]

Argh-

[The tension broke and the silver haired warrior won out. His broadsword flared almost as if it was made of fire, as Flame Tongue was used and a moment later the sahagin was forced back only to meet with the scorching blade as it was dragged across it's torso as the monsters guard was lowered.

Not until the monster had slumped to the ground, did Sephiroth turn to look over his shoulder - still in the navy-blue of his Esdham military jacket. Long tendrils of silver hair finally settling back into place behind him.]

You OK?

[ Sensing movement above her, Sheena drew her own katana, willing to let the monster simply fall on to the blade--at whatever cost to herself.

Of course, that would be when she was bodily shoved out of the way, eliciting a loud "Hey!" before coming to a halt and abruptly turning to confront her attacker. And mentally rolled her eyes when she saw who it was.

Couldn't he have given her some kind of warning?

It only took a second for her to know he had things under control and spent her time getting the civilians the heck out of there. She didn't have time to be nice, so the orders came fast and furious--almost like machine-gun fire.

By the time they were cleared, Sephiroth had finished, and she turned to him. ]

Thanks. [ She gave a small nod. ] I'm all right. How about you?

[ Selen didn't waste any time to follow after the stranger that was throwing herself out in the mess. Selen herself didn't like what was going on and she certainly wasn't going to let another person run on their own and get possibly hurt. Even if she had lost the girl momentarily through her screaming and going from the church, Selen somehow found her again.

Her sword slashed down the monsters that were in the way. My, what a turn out of things. Heroes of Light certainly had a bad ring to it. ]

You look like you could use a hand.

[ She replied, hiding her usual disposition under a more serious mask. ]

It's fine! I've just been having trouble with notifs.

[ She may not want to make a habit of doing that with Sheena. The ninja has a bad habit of doing something like this on a regular basis.

And to find Sheena, all one has to do is listen for a strident voice raised in volume. For a ninja, Sheena isn't always the quietest person around.

Taking out her own monster, the girl looks at the newcomer and nods. ] Thanks! I'm not used to these kinds of creatures.

[ Or using a katana as a primary weapon. ]

[Of course there was a point to helping. Ramza dove into the chaos, anger giving him power. Too many of the Heroes were willing to sacrifice these people, to write them off as a lost cause. As long as the people lived, there was hope for them. Ramza was not willing to give up on them, despite the odds.

He was willing to give up on his damned sword, though. He would do more damage with bare hands than with the Excalipoor blade. He sheathed it and grabbed a rock from the ground. He threw it at the nearest monster. It turned from its victim.]

Come on! Face me if you dare!

[K'pandolu moves to stand beside him, lightning at her fingertips.]

See where it gets you.

[and she casts the spell, shocking the creature.]

[Ramza nodded at K'pandolu. He recognized her from that false memory; a strong fighter to have beside him in battle, though he avoided thinking too closely on memories from that particular fight.]

We need to get the people to the docks. Drive the beasts in the opposite direction if you can.

[Before the lightning had grounded itself fully, Ramza charged straight at the twitching creature, knocking it down with his full weight and momentum.]

Go now! [He ordered the citizens the monster had pinned into a corner.]

[ Oh well screw all the rules, right?

Heroes of Light, his ass. He can't believe this is a thing. This was why that title left a bad taste in his mouth. It was ironic how this all turned out. Of course, Yuri wasn't the type to run with his tail between his legs, much less leave innocent bystanders to be fed to the monsters.

He rushed at some of the monsters and sent them flying with his quick sword movements, while turning around and shouting for people to get the hell out. ]

Hey if you seriously value your lives, I'd make a run for it before they get you! Go!

[ He snapped, while turning to focus on being a shield for the population of people that he probably couldn't protect at all on his own. ]

[Terra watches the hero move from the corner of her gaze. She remembers the infernos of the last battle she had shy away from and she isn't going to do that here. A palm holds out to her side as she casts ultima at the cluster of monsters in front of Yuri.

It should hopefully give him a second of breath while letting the civilians escape.]

[ Well, the help was appreciated really. All Yuri could do was whistle at the amount of energy she just used to clear the cluster of beasts away from him. It did give him a chance to breath and he appreciated that. ]

Looks like you found your fight back!

[ He shouted with a wave towards her and a big grin on his face. ]
