Ramza shrugged at the suggestion that he had thrown himself into the repair work. He had tried to do his part, but no more than the other Heroes.

But he had a little, at least, to show for his research. "The Swordsman was quite conspicuous. The trail is not yet lost. Rumor places him in the Imperial City during the grand parade."

True, it did not tell Ramza where the man and Ramza's sword was now, but a lead a few months old was much less hopeless than one lost 28 years in the past. Ramza gave Ashelia a satisfied nod.

"The grand parade? That was months ago." But if the swordsman was so conspicuous, Ramza was correct that the trail would not end there. "Perhaps I can help in some way - I come across many in my dealings, or meet with those who do. What can you tell me of this conspicuous swordsman?"

Well, a few months was better than 28 years. Ramza thought he was doing well enough in the search so far.

"He was a...flashy sort of man. He called himself Gilgamesh, and he traveled with an ugly dog." Not the sort of person Ramza expected a queen to be acquainted with.

Ashelia's back straightened even more in surprise, if that was possible. It did seem to be. "Gilgamesh?" It could be a different man, but she had met him in Aqures Tosf as well. It likely wasn't.

"I am...familiar with the man, though in truth he seems to be much more," Ashelia continued. "I fought against him several years ago, but when we met once more just last year, he was a great ally against The Eternal." She seemed fond of him, but didn't protest Ramza's description of Enkidu.

"Why do you seek him?"

Ramza frowned in disapproval at Ashelia's admission that Gilgamesh had been an ally. He felt irrationally betrayed at her fond tone.

"He is a rogue and a thief, and he caused unnecessary strife for the people in Aqures Tosf." In the general sense, that was true. It just also happened to be true that Ramza was seeking him for more than just his broader tomfoolery. He had to reclaim his father's sword.

"I don't doubt it," Ashelia replied, again somewhat lightheartedly. "We did meet at first under less than ideal circumstances, but the man - if that is truly his nature - is capable of good as well. Like many of us."

She frowned though, bringing one hand to her chin and crossing her other arm underneath her elbow. "What sort of unnecessary strife do you refer to?" She knew Ramza wouldn't be hunting the many-armed swordsman for no reason. "Perhaps I need to bring him to heel once more."

A soft snort was Ramza's only reply to Ashelia's assertion of Gilgamesh's goodness. Yes, he probably possessed the potential for it...buried further down than the deepest dungeon of Midlight's Deep.

"I found him harassing a street vendor, and he... stole weapons from folk he met. He cheated in a duel and is utterly without honor." He delivered these accusations as a judge would the charges laid upon a criminal.
