Event || Window of Opportunity

Characters: All Heroes of Light.
Where: Aqures Ixen - Everywhere
When: September 25th - From 12:30 to 22:30.
Summary: Heroes of Light will relive the same ten hours over and over again until they find a solution. This may be a blow to what's left of their sanity, but that's also a window of opportunity! The OOC Post is here for more information! It's not too late to sign-up, anyone can still jump right into the event! However, your vote for the total number of loops will not be taken into account any more.

Speaking of which-- Votes are in and this time displacement madness will be solved after 191 loops. Practically speaking, this means characters going through every single loop will live 2 months, 2 weeks, 3 days and 14 hours in the span of half a day. Hopefully they won't mind the food for the day, the clothes they're wearing or what they were doing when the loop started, because that's what they'll be stuck with until the end. There are some events described below, but there will be no NPC replies. Feel free to partake in these events and of course, make your own!

The Flence Salesman
— All Day Long —
There is a salesman from Flence in the city, and he is going for every person he sees in the streets. Adults, children or elders, humans or tarutarus, it doesn't matter to him so long as he can make money! He will try to sell to the characters specialties from Flence and some crystals at absolutely awful prices, but he's open to negotiations and beyond that, he's extremely persistent. Normally, nobody would care about this, but given the salesman isn't be aware of the loop, he'll keep doing the same things over and over again... Hopefully he won't see your characters, otherwise he might just bother them for every single loop.


Moogle Demonstration for the Future of Mognet
— 12:30 => 16:00 —
For a surprise one-day long strike, the Moogles are demonstrating! There are roughly 800 Moogles together (250 according to the government, 5000 according to the striking Moogles) in the demonstration, all singing slogans and some even holding placards with "More Gil and Less Work" or "Give us Kupo Nuts" signs.

They started at 10:00 and left from the 09th District, but they will go throughout every district and explain what their protest is about. They'll finish at 16:00 and will be back to the 09th District to eat Kupo Nuts and drink Chocobo Milk together.


Biggs' Grand Return
— 14:00 => 22:30 —
After a month spent in the hospital, Biggs is finally back! He leave the Hospital at 14:00 and head straight for the Castle of Aqures Ixen. Noticeably he still has a broken and bandaged arm, but he'll pretend to be totally fine and for that matter, he will be as rude and as unfriendly as ever. He will spend most of the day in the Castle, but will go in Palitutu's Lab by 19:00 to meet with Cid. Among other things, he will side-eye everyone and will accidentally splash Cid's coffee on a Hero of Light working there (or on a Moogle, should the Hero have the good sense to avoid Biggs next loop).


Renovation of the Blitzball Stadium
— 15:30 => 20:00 —
The repairs are going steadily and today, a special dome from Trano Golsaucia is being transported and placed on the Blitzball Stadium, brand new and much more modern than what Aqures Ixen used to have! On the downside however, the airship bringing the dome and the work being done on the stadium are all very, very noisy. So noisy that everyone in a two-district radius will be bothered by it.

Under normal circumstances it would have been only for a short time and easilly bearable, but here it will happen for every single loop.


Have You Heard of the Heroes of Light?
— All Day Long —
Throughout the day, a few people are going to go and knock on every doors in the city, to talk about a most fascinating topic: the Heroes of Light! They will speak about how it is said the Heroes of Light are in Crystallis and how they managed to defeat the empire without difficulties back during the attack! Then they will go on and ask for a contribution (hear: money) to help the Heroes of Light in their cause. Of course, these people are dishonest and the money will go into their own pockets, as they don't believe in the Heroes of Light to begin with.

And of course, they'll go knock on doors during every single loop!


The Accident
— 22:29 => 22:30 —
The one minute that started it all. Who is the imbecile who committed the mistake on Palitutu's computer? Is this a Moogle or a Hero of Light, maybe Cid or Biggs? Whoever it is, after the first time, at 22:29 the program will start again on its own and will activate the loop right at 22:30, sending everything back to 12:30. The characters may try to run more programs to block the computer, cut the energy source or even bomb the building if they so wish...

But these archaic and barbaric solutions won't prevent the next loop from happening. Only hard work and scientific solutions shall prevail!

Ales, Looper

A. Beginning, Loop 1-191

K-kupo!

[Ales deftly jumps out of the way of the falling cabinet and pulls his hat down over as much of his body as he can. One of the Moogles employed to help him reach the top drawers may have been a bit too...enthusiastic and not realized how far the thing was tipping over.]

Be careful next time! [He plucks his hat off his head as the Moogle apologizes.

However, for the first few repetitions, Ales doesn't realize it's falling, and the cabinet hits him regardless of the Moogles warning. By the end of it all, he's clearly tired of it all. God, please let this end so he won't have to avoid heavy storage furniture every ten hours.]

B. Palitutu's Lab, Loop 5-10

[Well, if the days is just going to repeat itself, Ales might as well take advantage of the extra time and get rid of his stress. Namely by searching the building for spare mechanical parts and putting them together. If one gets too close to his workbench, they can heard him giggling to himself.]

C. Around Yuffie's house, Loop 10-15

[Ales, wielding the finishes Potato Launcher (tm), dashes out of the lab, attempting to hide behind buildings, but alas, he is no ninja, and he might be spotted by you. Not that it really matters: he has who knows how many chances at this, and there's only one target he's after.

Yuffie. It's time to finally enact petty vengeance and suffer no consequences.]

D. Lab, Loop 20-191

[This is getting out of hand; it's time to put an end to this madness and get his normal life back. For the entire day, he shuts himself in the lab and pours over the computer.]

This would go faster if I could only take notes...

[Welp. Time to go through everything file by file and memorize what's in there. This is going to be along two months.]

E. Biggs' Coffee, sometime during the later loops.

[How many loops. How many more loops until this ends?! By now, Ales is sick and tired and he wants to take a nap without worrying that he'll be crushed by a falling cabinet. Maybe he should take a break and talk to Biggs, even though he has no reason to be close to that man. Whatever, anything that makes this loop different from the others.

What he doesn't know is that Biggs, now talking to someone else, has his elbow precariously positioned in front of his coffee cup. One wrong turn could send it flying...]

Excuse me?

[It takes only two seconds, but to Ales, Biggs turns around in slow-motion, and the cup tips right at Ales' face. He only has time to close his eyes before the hot liquid spills all over him.]

You know someone could go and get a notebook or something for you to take notes?

[Yugi paused slightly, looking up from something he had been looking through just so he could speak for the moment.]

[umslay]

[His head swiveled to a voice he didn't expect to hear in the lab. Did he say that out loud in hearing range of another? If Yugi wasn't aware of the time loops, Ales had just made a fool of himself.]

I could, but... [eh, this could be fun] you don't know about what's been going on?

I don't have a full idea, I do know time keeps going backward after a certain amount of time.

[Though the cause is something he had no idea how to.]

[Ah, this is better.]

Then you should understand that whatever I write tends to disappear when we go back in time. It's a tad difficult to keep track of what you were doing without documentation.

Then we need to figure out what is more important and only read and remember that, right?

[Sounds logical, right?]

Uh, that's the ideal way this should work, but I can't tell what's important until I read it. So I'm still stuck with reading everything first.

[Sigh. This is taking a long time.]

[Yugi at least had some advantage to being able to read faster than a normal person.]

I can help if that actually helps since I have a maxed scholar job.

[umslay]

[That gets him to cheer up. If by "cheering up" you mean "stops lying around in self-pity."]

Good. Now plant yourself in front of that screen and go through folder 005 while I go through 004. Got it?

Re: Ales, Looper

[Kidd has well taken stock of who is looping and who isn't at this point. Still, her own instincts push her to play a low profile as much as she can. She's been interacting here and there but she's been using the regular movements of the crowds and the people to her advantage.

While Ales being splashed with the coffee is unique she also knows what is going to happen.

She steps in at the last second, catching the mug and depositing it on a nearby table.]

Are you alright there?

[Shivers run up Ales' spine when the mug's trajectory is stop thanks to divine intervention, or rather, Kidd stepping in with lighting-fast reflexes. Either that, or she knew it was coming.]

W-well, that was close! I wouldn't think Biggs was so clumsy!

[A short vocal protest from said coffee owner, and he takes his cup before storming off to drink in his own corner.]

Ah, er. [He traces the edges of his jacket, curious whether Kidd is one of those aware of the timeline anomaly.] You knew he was going to hit that?

[Kidd smirks a bit, she knows full well that Ales is one of the fellow loopers. She just feels a little pride in being able to keep her own presence quiet as she has.]

Aye. He seems especially clumsy around this time of day. One would think you'd learn to not stand in the way.

I don't suppose you have any theories about our present problem?

[umslay]

[Good. One less person to explain the situation to.]

Look, this is the first time I've spoken to Biggs! [No, it's the second. The first time, he didn't even looking in the coffee's direction.] I don't normally go around talking to everyone I see, so why would I know about his clumsiness?

[Whatever, he needs to change the topic before Kidd presses him.]

None at the moment, apart from some part of Palitutu's time travel code going on loop indefinitely. I've been searching through the computers with no luck so far.

[Kidd waves her hand, trying to brush off the misunderstanding.] I was simply referring to this instance, one that I've grown intimately familiar with. I don't know his personal habits though that may be something for me to watch if we have another go around.

So it's another thing related to Palitutu then. Is the whole world affected by this or is it just us?

[umslay]

[He sighed. There was no point in getting worked up over this, but Kidd's presence made it easier to calm down. At least he was understanding of his situation.]

I'm sure the whole world is, but all the people who are aware of this phenomenon are Heroes. Might be related to the coding that brought us back in time, targeting us. [He held a hand to the tip of his snout.] Last time, we had to wait twenty eight years before coming back, but waiting will do us no good.

That's why we Scholars have been spending hours pouring over Palitutu's computers.

Sounds like a decent theory. Didn't those who ran into Deweg say something about him being able to alter time or some such? If Palitutu was researching time travel then it couldall tie together from there.

Afraid I'm no help with those computers though. Even if I can't speak ancient they're devices from after my own time.

Hm. A good theory. But without any of the Heroes having mastered that Job, as far as I'm aware, I doubt we can fully depend on them to fix this problem.

[He turns to the computer. Kidd is a dependable ally, but not when it comes to research.]

It's alright. We'll find a way out of this. [Even though he's getting exhausted...has it been a week since he last went somewhere outside of this building? Was his productivity going down from doing nothing other than read the screens? He turns back.]

You know, I've getting tired from doing all this working, and I need some sort of break. What've you been up to?

[ Minato was a looper as well, who was curiously okay with the revelation things were repeating themselves. Sure, it was strange, but this means he can keep draining his mp3 player battery by listening to his music all day, and suffer no consequences from not having his charger. Also, he can try a different flavor each day at the ice cream stalls. His priorities totally aren't misplaced.

But now and then, even he changed his idling into some odd routine. He supposed the lab would be where the Smart People™ would be figuring out how close or far they were to fixing the loop. He removes his earphones at that moment so that he can innocently eavesdrop, when he hears some giggling in the distance. His eyes trail to see a... person of a species he hasn't met before. Curiosity gets the better of him for once, and he approaches. ]

What are you working on...?

[Ales pays no mind to someone walking up to him. After all, he is working in one of the more popular workshops in the building. He finishes screwing in a small pieces of metal sticking out of the metal tube, then turns to Minato with a friendly grin.]

Oh, it's something I'm doing for fun. With all the time we have, I thought: why not make use of it? [He shrugs, but it's more for show than anything. He hasn't seen Minato enter this building in the previous loops, so he assumes he must be another looper.]

I'm not much of a physical fighter, myself, so I focused on building machines to do that for me. However [He picks up the framework of his weapon.] while I usually don't build projectile weapons, this might be the only option available to me.

[And to answer his question more specifically:] It launches potato-sized objects.

[silencesfate]

[ Another person from a background of some form of fighting, but now with a background of machinery... Minato takes his explanations in with a nod. ]

Oh, potato shooting.

[ That seems like a waste of perfectly good food, but. The concept does intrigue the long dormant part of his heart that was a curious little boy's--minus all the more vibrant excitement that would come from that metaphor. ]

What are you going to use it on? It seems too... specific to not be for a certain something.

[umslay]

[He'd rather not tell the truth and be forced to explain why he has such a petty grudge against Yuffie and why potatoes out of all potential ammunition, but what other plausible explanation can he give?]

Well, see...it's a long story, a bit of an inside joke with someone I know. [No lies there.] It's not dangerous; I can't get enough power to throw them fast enough to hurt someone [too badly, he doesn't add], but I believe I can develop something better once I test it out!

[silencesfate]

Oh...

[ He doesn't get people relations and somehow assumes this is friendship, so this is totally a fitting way to now consider his future ones: "who would I still be okay with after pelting me with a potato". ]

They're in for a surprise. [ To say the least. ]

[Yes, friends throw potatoes at their friends. It's to establish that they trust each other no matter how silly they may act. Or they come off as bullies, but Yuffie is annoying; she deserves it.

Ales doesn't realize how hypocritical that train of thought is.]

Oh, certainly! I can't wait to see her reaction when she's hit and realizes it was me all along! [He adds a giggle at the end.]

[ So they're already that chill with each other? Friendships are fascinating things, aren't they, Minato? ]

Maybe. I don't want to be seen, but I'm no ninja! I have to prepare for the possibility, don't I?
