Event || Window of Opportunity

Characters: All Heroes of Light.
Where: Aqures Ixen - Everywhere
When: September 25th - From 12:30 to 22:30.
Summary: Heroes of Light will relive the same ten hours over and over again until they find a solution. This may be a blow to what's left of their sanity, but that's also a window of opportunity! The OOC Post is here for more information! It's not too late to sign-up, anyone can still jump right into the event! However, your vote for the total number of loops will not be taken into account any more.

Speaking of which-- Votes are in and this time displacement madness will be solved after 191 loops. Practically speaking, this means characters going through every single loop will live 2 months, 2 weeks, 3 days and 14 hours in the span of half a day. Hopefully they won't mind the food for the day, the clothes they're wearing or what they were doing when the loop started, because that's what they'll be stuck with until the end. There are some events described below, but there will be no NPC replies. Feel free to partake in these events and of course, make your own!

Warning: Too many time loops may be bad for your mental health.

The Flence Salesman
— All Day Long —
There is a salesman from Flence in the city, and he is going for every person he sees in the streets. Adults, children or elders, humans or tarutarus, it doesn't matter to him so long as he can make money! He will try to sell to the characters specialties from Flence and some crystals at absolutely awful prices, but he's open to negotiations and beyond that, he's extremely persistent. Normally, nobody would care about this, but given the salesman isn't be aware of the loop, he'll keep doing the same things over and over again... Hopefully he won't see your characters, otherwise he might just bother them for every single loop.

Moogle Demonstration for the Future of Mognet
— 12:30 => 16:00 —
For a surprise one-day long strike, the Moogles are demonstrating! There are roughly 800 Moogles together (250 according to the government, 5000 according to the striking Moogles) in the demonstration, all singing slogans and some even holding placards with "More Gil and Less Work" or "Give us Kupo Nuts" signs.

They started at 10:00 and left from the 09th District, but they will go throughout every district and explain what their protest is about. They'll finish at 16:00 and will be back to the 09th District to eat Kupo Nuts and drink Chocobo Milk together.

Biggs' Grand Return
— 14:00 => 22:30 —
After a month spent in the hospital, Biggs is finally back! He leave the Hospital at 14:00 and head straight for the Castle of Aqures Ixen. Noticeably he still has a broken and bandaged arm, but he'll pretend to be totally fine and for that matter, he will be as rude and as unfriendly as ever. He will spend most of the day in the Castle, but will go in Palitutu's Lab by 19:00 to meet with Cid. Among other things, he will side-eye everyone and will accidentally splash Cid's coffee on a Hero of Light working there (or on a Moogle, should the Hero have the good sense to avoid Biggs next loop).

Renovation of the Blitzball Stadium
— 15:30 => 20:00 —
The repairs are going steadily and today, a special dome from Trano Golsaucia is being transported and placed on the Blitzball Stadium, brand new and much more modern than what Aqures Ixen used to have! On the downside however, the airship bringing the dome and the work being done on the stadium are all very, very noisy. So noisy that everyone in a two-district radius will be bothered by it.

Under normal circumstances it would have been only for a short time and easilly bearable, but here it will happen for every single loop.

Have You Heard of the Heroes of Light?
— All Day Long —
Throughout the day, a few people are going to go and knock on every doors in the city, to talk about a most fascinating topic: the Heroes of Light! They will speak about how it is said the Heroes of Light are in Crystallis and how they managed to defeat the empire without difficulties back during the attack! Then they will go on and ask for a contribution (hear: money) to help the Heroes of Light in their cause. Of course, these people are dishonest and the money will go into their own pockets, as they don't believe in the Heroes of Light to begin with.

And of course, they'll go knock on doors during every single loop!

The Accident
— 22:29 => 22:30 —
The one minute that started it all. Who is the imbecile who committed the mistake on Palitutu's computer? Is this a Moogle or a Hero of Light, maybe Cid or Biggs? Whoever it is, after the first time, at 22:29 the program will start again on its own and will activate the loop right at 22:30, sending everything back to 12:30. The characters may try to run more programs to block the computer, cut the energy source or even bomb the building if they so wish...

But these archaic and barbaric solutions won't prevent the next loop from happening. Only hard work and scientific solutions shall prevail!

[Landing on his feet with fluid ease after a backward flip, slashing his sword into the tree trunk then twisting it, D yanked the blade out upon hearing the man's voice. He knew the guy watched from a distance for quite some time, maybe even a few previous loop cycles, but never did he approach. This time, however, seemed a bit different. With one quick motion, there vampire slipped his blade into the leather sheath on his back. Then he turned to size the man up.]

Good evening. You finally decided to announce your presence.

An amused smirk settles onto Jack's face as he approaches closer. "So, you did catch me. Not exactly built for stealth here." He gestures to the plate armor that he's wearing.

"I'm Jack Harkness. Technically Captain Jack Harkness, but I don't know how much my commission extends here." Jack's tone stays casual, but his eyes keep searching the man, as if trying to absorb every detail. What's so different about this Hero, in particular?

D.

[Captain? He never heard of the man but the title held rank. So this place has very different characters, indeed. His eyes glowed red in a quick flash then he took a step forward, making sure he would catch any move this guy tried to make. There was no telling if he was friend or foe just yet.]

Are you a Hero as well?

"A pleasure to meet you, D," with a small nod of his head. Odd name, but Jack will let it slide. Only adds to the mystery of the man; usually that's Jack's specialty. It's interesting to be in this side of the effect, hasn't happened to Jack in a while.

"I am," he is quick to assure. "One of the Heroes of Light, that is. If it's a descriptor of us as a group. How heroic I've been or not is up for debate." Jack clearly isn't the sort of man to label himself a hero, with the way he dodges the description.

"And now even more have joined us," another nod towards D. He takes a step closer, not threateningly, but to examine D closer.

[D raises an eyebrow and pushes his aura out to read Jack's moves. Something off about this guy tickled at D's senses, screaming for caution. There was no way he would let his guard down around the guy. But he would let the Captain get closer. D felt neither fear nor hostility from this Hero. Not that he felt much of either from any of the Heroes he met thus far. Surely there were some. He couldn't imagine this world knowing true good from evil. Otherwise, they would not have called him to this world.

True, he would help save it if the need rose, but good... That was an entirely different matter. But not one to settle her with this stranger.]

I take it, you have been here looking.

"No sense in hiding it, I've been watching, yes. Dragoon, is it?" he names the specialty that D seems to have in this world. "I've been considering training as one. Paladin has been quite useful. Ordinarily I keep it teamed up with Dark Knight. An effective combination. I'm leveling something a little different at the moment."

"But maybe something with some more- mobility, is what I need." See, he can handle business and pleasure at the same time. Satisfy one of the areas of curiosity about D. See where things go from there.

[D realized he misspoke. He meant to say that the Captain had been around for a long time. Well, it didn't bother him how the conversation turned. He just nodded.]

Dragoon... Vampire. Both actually.

Oh. While D's suspicion is true, as well, Jack follows the conversation. There is a quick flicker of surprise, before he nods. "Vampire. I've never quite understood that, as a class." He steps around, looking over D's features, the eyes, the pale skin, is that due to his job class?

"I've also never understood why this place gives us the combinations that it does when we appear. Are they drawn out of a hat? Or do they have something to with our deeper personality? Dark Knight seems to have been a good match for me, but the very first thing I woke up here with was a bow and arrow." And yet, he's mastered the job for Archer, as well.

Pause. "Does it change you?" Stays casual, curious. "Make you something other than human?"

[He's excited... And talkative... Interesting. But not off-putting. Sure as Jack was watching him, D was measuring the armoured guy before him. Shorter, but most people are, and confident. Yet, there was something deeper hiding inside Jack. A different personality that he was hiding. Though, D knew all about that...

His fangs bit along his bottom lip but he made it appeared natural. He still wasn't used to his fangs being always distended. Still, Jack's question was rather odd. Was there another way to look?]

I have never been human.

D's reply is so matter-of-fact, but also so mysterious that it almost makes Jack want to giggle. Oh, he has found someone interesting. This is usually his gimmick.

"Always up for debate," Jack replies after a moment of regaining his composure. "Some of the most human people I've met didn't have a drop of human blood in their veins." He takes a few steps, almost walking around D in a circle. "And some of the biggest monsters I've known were one hundred percent human."

"But. I suppose, I should rephrase my question, then." Smirk. "Not human, but do you feel- changed in any way? With the Vampire class?"

Hungrier.

[That was really the best word to describe his change. True as a dhampire he thirsted for human blood but never this bad before. Well, unless he was forced past his breaking point.]

This world forgot to teleport my blood capsules when they did me.

Maybe Jack should have expected such an answer. His eyebrows raise only slightly. "But if you shift away from the job class, it would go away. You'd find yourself- well, not back to normal. The people who come here, even if they were something else," a slight nod of his head, "before. Those differences are mostly gone."

"Sorry if my questions are too personal. I just wish I understood better how coming to this place is changing us so."

A pause, Jack is thinking carefully of his next words. "But this place burdened you with this hunger right off the bat? You've got nothing else to replace the job with? Wish I understood that logic, too."

[D shifted to stare at Jack with glowing crimson eyes. It was a cold, calculating stare meant to shake anyone of weaker composure off their nerves. He did so to show his complete seriousness in how he would answer this question.]

This hunger keeps me from being the monster I know I am. I do not wish to release myself from this restraint.

The startled change in Jack's face isn't one of fear. Concern, confusion, but a desire to understand, underneath it all. D is trying to tell Jack he's a danger, warn him away. But whenever the conflict of 'safety' versus 'gaining new information' comes up in Jack's life, he always falls on the side of satisfying his curiosity.

"Monster? Again. Relative term. Open to debate."

Jack needs to have more care about how he words his question than he usually does with his words.

"Why do you fear what you'll do without a restraint?"

Fear of the unknown is up for debate as well. Yet it is still on the table...

[D pauses for a moment trying to answer yet not in the same way. He hated being exposed.]

I cannot imagine a life without the hunger. It might change me, and not for the better.

A very light laugh. "People who bother fearing the unknown don't realize just how much is out there that they don't know. The Universe is far too big to waste time on that."

"Whatever it is you were before," Jack will back off of the pressure for that particular answer, "as strange as this place is, a lot of people have found the opportunity to become something new. Whether that change is better or worse than before, impossible to say. The people here toss around the word Hero. Some have found it a goal to try to live up to. If they weren't happy with before, that is."

How about you then? [This guy wanted answers, well, so did D.

That's...an interesting question. Jack clearly ponders it carefully before starting to answer. "An ability I had from home is gone. Suddenly I knew how to shoot a bow and arrow." That has still been the most curious thing, to Jack, why did this place select Archer for him?

But what has changed? Chiaki, Johnny, Luffy, Sparks, Rikku, Terra. He can remember the looks on their faces, after his desperate attempt to save Aqures Tosf. He didn't- mean to hurt them with what he did. "There are people who care if I live or die."

Interesting... I too have lost some power, but that's fine. Though, many people tried to kill me where I come from. Don't expect that to change here. Regardless, this Hero of Light is different...

[In truth, D still didn't know how to view this world just yet.]

Why were you watching me anyway?

"I saw someone new. And fascinating. And showing off a talent that I was very curious about." No sense in hiding his agenda. "Doubted that I could stay hidden. Was also interesting to see how long I could keep it up."

Jack still hasn't backed away, and he tilts his head curiously to watch D, being quite obvious that he's trying to take in as much as he can. "You knew I was there, but it didn't seem to bother you?"

[At Jack's statement, D shrugged nothing how close the man was but not feeling claustrophobic just yet. Though he did wish he had his scarf to pull it over his mouth like he did when he tried to hide his face more. D's eyes, however, seemed to bore deep into Jack's as if he were attempting to see inside the man's soul.]

I do not perceive you as a threat.
