Event || Window of Opportunity

Characters: All Heroes of Light.
Where: Aqures Ixen - Everywhere
When: September 25th - From 12:30 to 22:30.
Summary: Heroes of Light will relive the same ten hours over and over again until they find a solution. This may be a blow to what's left of their sanity, but that's also a window of opportunity! The OOC Post is here for more information! It's not too late to sign-up, anyone can still jump right into the event! However, your vote for the total number of loops will not be taken into account any more.

Speaking of which-- Votes are in and this time displacement madness will be solved after 191 loops. Practically speaking, this means characters going through every single loop will live 2 months, 2 weeks, 3 days and 14 hours in the span of half a day. Hopefully they won't mind the food for the day, the clothes they're wearing or what they were doing when the loop started, because that's what they'll be stuck with until the end. There are some events described below, but there will be no NPC replies. Feel free to partake in these events and of course, make your own!

Warning: Too many time loops may be bad for your mental health.

The Flence Salesman
— All Day Long —
There is a salesman from Flence in the city, and he is going for every person he sees in the streets. Adults, children or elders, humans or tarutarus, it doesn't matter to him so long as he can make money! He will try to sell to the characters specialties from Flence and some crystals at absolutely awful prices, but he's open to negotiations and beyond that, he's extremely persistent. Normally, nobody would care about this, but given the salesman isn't be aware of the loop, he'll keep doing the same things over and over again... Hopefully he won't see your characters, otherwise he might just bother them for every single loop.

Moogle Demonstration for the Future of Mognet
— 12:30 => 16:00 —
For a surprise one-day long strike, the Moogles are demonstrating! There are roughly 800 Moogles together (250 according to the government, 5000 according to the striking Moogles) in the demonstration, all singing slogans and some even holding placards with "More Gil and Less Work" or "Give us Kupo Nuts" signs.

They started at 10:00 and left from the 09th District, but they will go throughout every district and explain what their protest is about. They'll finish at 16:00 and will be back to the 09th District to eat Kupo Nuts and drink Chocobo Milk together.

Biggs' Grand Return
— 14:00 => 22:30 —
After a month spent in the hospital, Biggs is finally back! He leave the Hospital at 14:00 and head straight for the Castle of Aqures Ixen. Noticeably he still has a broken and bandaged arm, but he'll pretend to be totally fine and for that matter, he will be as rude and as unfriendly as ever. He will spend most of the day in the Castle, but will go in Palitutu's Lab by 19:00 to meet with Cid. Among other things, he will side-eye everyone and will accidentally splash Cid's coffee on a Hero of Light working there (or on a Moogle, should the Hero have the good sense to avoid Biggs next loop).

Renovation of the Blitzball Stadium
— 15:30 => 20:00 —
The repairs are going steadily and today, a special dome from Trano Golsaucia is being transported and placed on the Blitzball Stadium, brand new and much more modern than what Aqures Ixen used to have! On the downside however, the airship bringing the dome and the work being done on the stadium are all very, very noisy. So noisy that everyone in a two-district radius will be bothered by it.

Under normal circumstances it would have been only for a short time and easilly bearable, but here it will happen for every single loop.

Have You Heard of the Heroes of Light?
— All Day Long —
Throughout the day, a few people are going to go and knock on every doors in the city, to talk about a most fascinating topic: the Heroes of Light! They will speak about how it is said the Heroes of Light are in Crystallis and how they managed to defeat the empire without difficulties back during the attack! Then they will go on and ask for a contribution (hear: money) to help the Heroes of Light in their cause. Of course, these people are dishonest and the money will go into their own pockets, as they don't believe in the Heroes of Light to begin with.

And of course, they'll go knock on doors during every single loop!

The Accident
— 22:29 => 22:30 —
The one minute that started it all. Who is the imbecile who committed the mistake on Palitutu's computer? Is this a Moogle or a Hero of Light, maybe Cid or Biggs? Whoever it is, after the first time, at 22:29 the program will start again on its own and will activate the loop right at 22:30, sending everything back to 12:30. The characters may try to run more programs to block the computer, cut the energy source or even bomb the building if they so wish...

But these archaic and barbaric solutions won't prevent the next loop from happening. Only hard work and scientific solutions shall prevail!

The world will be destroyed and then restart. All the souls in Crystallis, including ours will be trapped here.

[Zelda walks around D and pours herself a cup of tea. It's a sad topic but it's the future they will have to face if they fail.]

So just another day... [D trailed off thinking about his own world. Though souls if otherworldly travelers never assisted in his. Aside from the Nobles...]

Has it happened before?

[There was a sadness in Zelda's voice and her frame. She seemed to be holding something back. The reason he wanted to know was why.]

[Zelda looks up feeling a little surprised by his question.]

Well... someone from my own world is here, though she doesn't remember me. She wouldn't anyway but it seems she has forgotten everything about my world. She was a hero of light 2000 years ago and she is now what we call a doppelganger.

[She steps forward, flipping to a page about them in her notebook. There are details there about the goddess Hylia who Zelda has found living with a boy that very much resembles the hero of legend from her home.]

We had a dream where we watched them fight... it felt, very real. [She had been inside Hilya's thoughts.]

Interesting...

[D fingered the page that Zelda showed him. His eyes lit in an eerie crimson glow as he read the passage. Then he lifted those eyes to look at the blonde girl, a, what looked like a crack found along a wall, broke along his cheek. His fangs seemed an inch longer.]

Tell me more about these doppelgangers who used to be Heroes.

[Realising that his voice morphed and his emotions boiling toward the surface, D took a deep breath dipping his head down. When he looked back up at her, his face was smooth again, his eyes dark and his fangs back to normal.]

[Zelda’s surprised to see the chance though the emotion barely breaks her expression. No matter what D looks like he is someone that Zelda considers a friend and that’s how she will treat him. Her head tilts to the side curiously as she studies him.]

Are you alright?

[She doesn’t know if he’ll answer, he often avoids questions that he has no desire to answer and so she continues for the sake of the conversation.]

Doppelgangers can be found all across Crystallis. I’ve seen many people I thought I knew just as others had. As I said they are past heroes of light, their souls became trapped here and were placed into this planets cycle. They are reborn and share the features of those we know.

However, they only have the memories of their lives here.

[He had no desire to answer her question. Especially about his life. So he was relieved to hear her moving on. When she was done, he raised a curious eyebrow.]

How did you figure all this out?

[The thought of someone else out there with his face should've startled him and yet it only remind him of another hard, cold truth. In his world, there was another who shared his face... He wished that was all the creature shared with him.]

[Zelda doesn't seem to mind so much. She can understand the need to keep secrets though she hopes that D might one day open up to someone.]

Well, we had that dream and Kalki sent us a note. It turns out that she is a Doppelganger as well but she had managed to regain her memories from 2000 years ago.

[She looks over at him, her voice calm despite the topic.]

Interesting. [Though he still holds the book, his complete attention is on Zelda now.]

So her group of Heroes failed. It will happen to us if we fail... How did she learn this to pass on? Why?

[Why was more important. Did this Kaliki wish to aid or hinder the current Heroes? Did she hold a grudge?]

[Kalki definitely still holds a grudge against the current heroes of light.

Zelda sighs and then pulled up another chair. This is a little bit of a long explanation.]

When we went 27 years into the past... well Kalki didn't know us there. She hadn't regained those memories. During our stay, Aqures Tofs was destroy. It was a reaction due to us and the crystal of fire. It was there that Kalki fell down a pit at the base of the crystal. I believe she had regained her memories there and was driven mad by the calamity.

[Which is really just guess work.]

Her group of heroes knew they were failing, so they set up signs to help future heroes. To stop the cycle. We don't know everything just yet but we need to meet Avatars left from the heroes before. We were told that some might help us, some might watch and some might hinder our goal.

Kalki, Garland, they are both Avatars.

...

[A pregnant pause passed between the two of them as D digested the information. He leaned against the wall in a relaxed pose. Tucking one long leg behind the other, D propped the book against his hip.]

To know that you were failing is no small feat. To try to fix it for the next takes an equal amount of dedication.

[Would the same thing happen to them if they failed? What would happen...]

And the worlds these former Heroes came from? What of them?

[Zelda shakes her head.]

I don't know. I am Hylia's reincarnation in my world and if her soul had been trapped here then I wouldn't have been born.

[She looks up at D then, her confusion clear.]

I've heard that it might be a different world. That the world that Hylia was originally from is gone but I don't really understand that myself.

[The closer they came to Crystallis, the further away they were from their homes. It worry's Zelda more than she can say.]

I wonder what would happen to my F... [D shook his head not wanting to particularly broach that subject. It bothered him slightly. However, that only made him more determined to solve this. Though he felt as if Zelda might want to speak to him about her feelings of what's bothering her. D was far from the best to lend a shoulder but he would listen.]

Seems that there are many worlds and different dimensions. Who was this Hylia in yours?

[Zelda smiles at his question. She's rather easy going and while she doesn't often talk to others about personal things she keeps nothing hidden either.]

Hylia is the goddess of the sky. She was one of the first to fight the powers of darkness. [And she doesn't mean good or evil but pure darkness which finds it's way into everyone's hearts.] In order to save those on the planet she lifted us to the sky and created Skyloft, with a spell in place to protect the peaceful land.

So, you are a reincarnated goddess? [That seemed dangerously familiar to D, though he was not reincarnated perse.]

[Zelda nods, there are some notes in her journal that allude to it but with the files she didn't see a reason to keep it a secret. She hadn't planned to close the information about her. She'd rather people know her if they wish.]

That's right.

[Though since arriving in Crystallis she's felt a little disconnected with Hylia. The memories remain however, her powers are gone.]

How did you come to that conclusion?

[D finally took a seat next to Zelda, stretching out a bit too relieve the kinks asking his spine. He couldn't stop his own curiosity to get to know much about the other Heroes.]

[Zelda's expression turned into a wistful smile.]

I only just learned of it before I came here. I was kidnapped from Skyloft and hunted. I was saved by a woman named Impa. She told me of my linage and said that if I unlocked the memories inside of me that I would unlock Hylila's powers as well.

We went to each temple and prayed in order to awaken that part of me that was sleeping.

[It sounds simple but in the process Zelda had used her childhood friend, been hunted and been forced into some destiny grater than she could have imagined.]

I was in the process of sealing the darkness when I woke up here.

[She remembers the feeling of the crystal surrounding her, her eyes closing, all while Link looks on in dismay.]

I likewise was finishing up with a hunt when I found myself here.

[How could she open up so easily with her past? It was a skill he never acquired. Hearing her story, D also felt a strength inside her growing even now. A few more years would see her a different woman altogether. He did enjoy her warm personality and hoped no matter what happened, she would retain it.]

[Zelda smiles brightly, that is honestly the first piece of information that he's given about himself.]

It was probably just as unexpected then.

[It's easy for her to talk about herself and she's vowed to keep her smile intact through whatever hardships they run into.]

I'm afraid I don't know much about how we are selected. I won't really call myself a hero.

[D raises an eyebrow at her statement.]

What makes a Hero does not solely reflect helping others or saving the world. Heroic people are in even the most humblest of establishments. Many of them do not believe they have done anything special and some... [He goes silent for a moment as if searching for the correct word or a way around perhaps the perfect word.]

... Are little more than villans themselves.

[Zelda smiles at that.]

Well, I believe that we all have the ability to become heroes. It depends on what we choose.

[The role of the heroes in her world is very specific though.]

I've seen villains try and become heroes and I think it's admiral that they are given this chance.

[After all, she'd been stabbed by one.]

Perhaps...

[The room grew colder from his aura as if the heat was somehow sucked out. His tapered fingers stroked the cover of the book he held. Then he reached through a pouch at his hip and pulled out a file, practically bursting at the seams with parchment, placing it on top of the book.]

How is it this place has a record of my known history?

[He was irritated yet relieved he found this in that labratory but wasn't so sure if he should lock it back up there. Who knew how safe it would be there from prying eyes? Not that anyone in this world would hold particular interest in learning about who he was. Still, why keep a file then?]

[In response Zelda digs into her pocket and pulls out her crystal. Unlike D's her is dark blue, slowly turning black.]

[She places the odd little crystal down next to his file.]

These connect us to our homes. I believe Jessie used that connection to look into our worlds, our pasts and our futures. Kalki had similar files though I don't know how they got them.

[Pulling out his own red crystal, he places it on the opposite side of the file. He stares at the three objects together noting their similarities and differences. His dark eyes glow crimson for just a moment before lifting his gaze back up to Zelda.]

This raises more questions than it answers.

[Zelda's expression softens as she carefully traces the edges of her crystal. Her own crystal is fashioned in the symbol of the goddess.]

I know. I wish I had more answers.

[She takes a deep breath before looking up at D.]

I don't know about your past or who you were on your world but I'd make peace with that person so that someone here doesn't use it against you. [A hand moves over Zelda's heart as she continues.] I know... it's hard.

There is so much that I wish... [So much she's wanted to change.]

But I don't want to be beaten here.
