Unknown. The Crystal is generating more energy than usual and it keeps increasing at an alarming rate. This is the same thing that happened 27 years ago when Aqures Tosf was destroyed.

Aqures Tosf...that's a different Crystal, I'm guessing?

[He shakes his head.]

You have any idea how we're supposed to deal with this? [Why, he mentally berates himself, why didn't he research these Crystals in-depth during the past month?]

Aqures Tosf was the city where the Crystal of Fire was originally kept. It was destroyed because of this very Crystal, not a different one. We know little on the accident, only that experiments most likely triggered the explosion.

[ A pause. ]

I am trying something with the Moogles, but I make no promise.

[umslay]

[An incredulous look.] And you moved it to another city?

Does this mean that someone was tampering with the Crystal here as well?

If left untouched, the Crystal is not dangerous. Our only other option was to leave it where it was and allow the Empire to get it.

[She nods] Most likely. What I do not understand is how they are doing it. It took tens of years for the first scientists to manage anything and they are all dead today.

[umslay]

[A disgruntled sigh.]

Any plans to evacuate the city?

[ She pauses. ]

We are trying to get Airships ready. However, as Shoopuf Airline was down, it will take hours before the Airships be ready to take to the sky. I am afraid it might be too late then, and on foot or Chocobo going far enough to avoid the explosion isn't an option.

[Really? Really? Ales rests his forehead on his palm for a moment.]

So what are we supposed to do now? [Please don't tell him that they're relying on the Heroes to somehow find a way to fix this.]

You, nothing for now. [Another pause.] Moogles can manipulate crystals in ways we cannot. They have never interacted with one of the great crystals, but given the situation it is worth a try. I'm trying to coordinate them to see if we can stop the Crystal of Fire. If something comes up on your end, please keep us informed.

That...makes sense. [It kind of explains how he'd need Mimi if he ever wanted to switch to one of the other Jobs.]
