[There's nobody around to stop her, so Chiaki is most decisively hugged. Thankfully she's between games, so she smiles and hugs back after a moment.]

Hey, Meredy.

[melnics]

( quickie makes his appearance too, weaving through the girls' feet as meredy loosens her grip on the other girl, but moves to grasp her hand instead. )

Did you see? There are so may games! Look, look! ( she doesn't seem to show any sings of her energy crashing any time soon, sorry friend. ) Whack-a-moomba!

[That's okay. Chiaki likes Meredy's energy. She could never match it, but it's always fun to hang out with her. That smile is infectious.]

Do you want to play one together?

[melnics]

You bet! ( she's already half-way to the attraction anyway, moving to drag chiaki if the other girl needs a boost in speed to get there.

reaching for a mallet, she thrusts it towards the other girl. ) Chiaki can probably beat the high score, no problem! Isn't that right?

[Chiaki smiles, taking the mallet and readying it.]

It's all about pattern recognition. There's an element of randomness involved, but there are only so many combinations in the order and timing of when they pop up.

( as the game clicks to life, meredy is the cheerleader that maybe chiaki never wanted. you'd think she was the one being plugged in and fed with life from the way she jumped and hooted, possibly making a spectacle of herself.

but she didn't seem to care, only growing more excited as the score climbed. ) Go, go! Ah, look at that one! Eee! Chiaki is the best! Hweel!

[Chiaki is a sight to behold, wielding that hammer with speed and accuracy. Physical challenges aren't really her forte, so she misses a few, but she is indeed racking up a rather high score.]

[melnics]

( by the time her score really takes off, meredy is totally wide-eyed. she's quieted down enough for quickie to have taken up his post on top of her head as she leans in as the time counts down, waiting with bated breath as her friend goes for those final few moments. her hands are balled into fists in anticipation, trying her best now not to distract chiaki...!

3... 2... 1! TIME'S UP )

Whew...

[Chiaki sets the hammer down, wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead. Even in Whack-a-Moomba, this girl doesn't mess around.]

1200 points. New high score.

[And the machine is vomiting tickets like nobody's business.]

( after what seemed like forever, at least to meredy, there's an eruption of excitement as the game finally ends. without warning, she pulls chiaki into into a spin, cheering in celebration. ) Baiba, baiba!! A new high score, you did it, you did it!

( not that there was ever any doubt, but the reality was so much better than just the possibility. letting go of chiaki, she's down on the ground, grabbing handfuls of tickets and tossing them into the air, laughing. )

So many prizes! Hehehe! Look at all of the tickets!

If we get enough of them, we can get a really good prize.

[Chiaki smiles, leaning down to pick up some of the tickets.]

[melnics]

( meredy continued to laugh as they spilled out, obviously giddy at the prospect. she didn't even know what sort of prizes there were, but the thought of it seemed to excite her. )

Meredy will help, too! ( with her hands and pockets overfilled, she was looking around at the games again, spotting something in the distance and pointing. ) Oooh, what is that? It looks like... Dancing, Dancing! ( because what were proper names of things? )

[Chiaki looks over where Meredy is pointing, and nods back with a smile.]

Oh yeah. That's a Para Para Paradise machine. You wave your arms in time with the notes on screen, and it looks like a dance.

[melnics]

Really? ( her eyes seemed to light up, and her arms rose high into the air again. )

Meredy wants to try! ( she's off before she's even finished the declaration, getting ready to start the game as she gets into position. ) I will contribute to the prize as well, you bet!

Okay, I'll watch you this time. Just keep the beat of the song and move your arms across the sensors when the notes fly by.

[Chiaki claps quietly behind her to help her stay on track.]

[melnics]

( when it first starts up, she doesn't quite seem to get it. with a frown she stubbornly keeps trying, chiaki's clapping keeping her focus until a short ways in the great! excellent! and wow! ratings rain down along the screen.

she's getting it now, laughing loudly, her natural movements with the melody taking over and making her look like a natural as the song blares on. )

[Chiaki knows there's a significant learning curve for newcomers to games like this, so she just keeps calmly clapping along with the beat. And once Meredy hits her groove, she just smiles and watches.]
