Event || Revelations

Characters: All the Heroes of Light and their Moogles.
Where: Order's Sanctuary, The Interdimensional Rift and their Homeworlds.
When: August 03rd - August 30th

Summary: Following the battle against Palitutu, all the Heroes of Light were transported into the Interdimensional Rift. They were told by Palitutu they would have to find her to prove they can break the cycle-- But before they could reach their destination, a malevolent entity from the Rift stripped them from their immortality...

And now, they woke up in a decaying and dying world, most specifically in a place called Order's Sanctuary. From there they are ready to jump... Into their homeworlds! Feel free to use this post for the Mingle at Order's Sanctuary and should your homeworld be the stage for the Heroes of Lights' next adventures, feel free to make a thread for it and as many sub-thread as necessary! Please refer to the OOC Post for questions and plotting.

[And then there's this jerk. Maybe Reno hasn't been a jerk yet, but Dylas is more wary of him than the others. He doesn't know this man or why he decided to follow them, but now Reno is his responsibility. He goes out there, talks to the wrong monster, and he'll end up soulless or sucked dry (in the least sexy of ways).]

Of course it's the real me. And don't talk about gods. If they hear you, they might take an interest in you.

[He snorts. He can't say this isn't him anymore, not after what he's done and how much he's enjoyed certain activities in this body.]

Do I look fake to you?

[Or is he misunderstanding the question?]

There's gods here, too?

[He hissed, pulling back from the window as if he'd already been spotted. That was not what he'd wanted to hear. He had enough of real gods meddling with people on Atia, he was rather enjoying the distinct lack of meddling gods on Crystallis (a semi-sentient Calamity and its avatars didn't exactly count the same way). He did not want to think about what kind of gods were running this place.]

And I meant... Well, did Crystallis tone you down for the sake a' the people there?

[Because KITT was originally a car, made into a man just so he could get it on with the rest of the human population. It wouldn't have surprised Reno in the least that Dylas was forcibly, magically changed just to fit in with the traditional "Heroes of Light."]

Or is it just this place, an' we're all gonna turn into... that [He waved vaguely at the window and Dylas] the longer we're here?

Yeah. They pulled me here the first time.

[So Reno has figured out that everyone turns into monsters. He's not surprised. Someone on the way here probably handed him a pamphlet or he overheard it. Dylas certainly didn't plan on mentioning it, but at least they're the only two in the room right now. He doesn't think he can avoid hiding it from Ed or Ales much longer, but at least he can address the giant deer in the room with them one by one.]

It took away my lightning. And then one night, I was...hungry. And it never stopped. You can't fight a war against another god without strong soldiers, right?

[At least it's not foggy outside. That'd make him feel even worse.]

She didn't bring you here. There are other things to worry about, because we leave at next sundown.

[He's presumably explained that he can't go out during the day. It's a handicap, but one they'll have to deal with.]

[Reno was quiet. Then he actually sat down across from Dylas.]

So that's why they brought you all in, an' how they get their power. Never thought I'd prefer Atia's demands...

[It was more muttered to himself, but Reno did sympathize. Gods screwing with humans for their own petty affairs rubbed him the wrong way. And he'd been there, too -- just not quite like this.]

[The mention of hunger was a bit of a concern, though.]

So... what exactly are you? Here, I mean.

[It wasn't accusatory -- just a quiet curiosity. And he didn't want to insinuate that this defined who Dylas was entirely.]

Who the hell is Atia?

[It doesn't matter if Reno mutters to himself. He could whisper so quietly even he wouldn't hear it, yet Dylas' ears would pick it up as a loud whisper. Ever since coming to this world, his ears have moved and been lively, tracing every sound, picking up everything.

If he could have this ability back in Crystallis, he would.]

I'm the same thing I am everywhere else. But what business is it of yours? You didn't even know who the hell I was today. Let's just focus on getting our asses out of here.

[Should have known. Reno cringed slightly.]

She was the goddess who brought me inta' the last world I was in, before Crystallis. Goddess of "Love" -- you can imagine what she wanted us around for. And not the fluffy stuff.

Didn't have much of a choice there, either.

[He leveled a hard gaze at Dylas.]

Look, I followed Ales in here. I dunno you or Ed, but you're the one lookin' like that right now, back from the dead an' sayin' he's hungry. So no offense, but I kinda wanna know just what kinda shit I just stepped in here.

If we're supposed ta' stick together, we need to know what we're dealing with.

What did she want you to do?

[He still asks. Because can Reno spot just how much of a virgin Dylas is from a mile away?

The answer should be yes. He'd be blushing furiously if his blood still moved through his veins as he finished connection the dots.]

Wha—that's disgusting! Don't talk about that!

[His tail goes from still to agitated and whipping behind him in only the span of a few seconds. His ears are flicked up and alert, then down and ashamed, then back up...]

Yeah. I'm hungry. It comes with this. [And he snarls—fangs are bared for a split second from annoyance with this conversation. He's not faking anything, he's partially animal, completely monster.] But instead of asking me questions, put on your big boy pants and keep up instead. We'll find the portal once it's safe for me to go back outside.

You asked who she was!

[And, to be fair, Dylas had also asked what Atia wanted Reno to do, before figuring the answer out himself. But Reno didn't push it. His eyes narrowed, though, at the sight of those fangs. Just like Henry... he thought.]

Oh, trust me. I been bit before by someone like you. You lose yer shit out here, I will be the first one t' end you. No offense -- just business.

I didn't want to hear about how much of a pervert you were.

[Dylas doesn't really ever think about sex (or if he does, he's very good at hiding it). His cheeks would be so red if he had moving blood, but that's just a small miracle as far as he's concerned. He likes not having to blush, even if everything else about being undead.

But he snarls at the threat.]

There are monsters here who can end you without even giving you a chance to blink. This isn't something for you to joke around about.

[He doesn't think Reno is serious about this at all, especially with an ill-placed threat like that.]

I'm not joking. If your "hunger" ever makes you a threat to this group, I'll --

[Reno made the mistake of looking hard into Dylas' eyes while trying to emphasize his point. Suddenly, his heart began to pound, his eyes dilated, his palms began to sweat... He froze, clutching the arm of the sofa and panting for breath as pure terror gripped him.]

And I'm telling you that you're not taking it seriously! The monsters here are tougher than in Crystallis!

[And just like that, his paralysis gaze is on. He has no idea how to turn it on or off at times or even what it's called, but it's no doubt active because of how pissed off he is at Reno. How could one man be so stupid to think that anyone with the Hunger could just be killed so easily?

He realizes what he's doing. Reno is stuck feeling all of his fears and anxieties all at once. Dylas should turn away, but he doesn't. He waits a few seconds longer. He's not sure why. It feels...good to give in and be that monster again, to watch someone squirm. What's only a few moments for him is likely a lot longer for Reno.

But then he reaches up and he covers his eyes, breaking the contact.]

Don't. I don't know how to turn it off, just don't look into my eyes again.

[But he sort of thinks Reno deserved it. At least now he understands what might happen if he takes on any of the monsters around here.]

[Reno gasped for breath, finally free, and clutched his chest, turning in toward the sofa as if to curl up for protection. At least Dylas had stopped before he'd pissed himself.]

...What did you just do?

[The accusation came out shaky, Reno's body still trembling.]

I looked at you.

[He runs a hand through his hair. His heart doesn't beat, which helps him hide that he's both ashamed of his actions and nervous about accidentally making eye contact again.]

If you need to kill me, I don't care. But killing any monster isn't as easy as it looks.

[And that's why Reno pissed him off, because he's so cocky to assume he'd be able to finish Dylas or any other monster off before magical bullshit starts to happen.]

...You shouldn't have followed me into this world. Go get some sleep.

So you ain't a vampire... or a werewolf. Just means I'll hafta' be more careful about it.

[Reno avoided eye contact, but he still wasn't sold on the idea he was helpless here. He was a Turk -- he had his pride.]

Sleep? [That got a short laugh.] Right. If that's possible.

I'll be fine.

It's not just about me, dammit. There are monsters here who could kill you without even stepping foot into the building.

[The demons could suck Reno's soul as he passed a window, he doesn't think they even need to make contact to do that. It's a spell they have to cast.]

It's possible. If you're so tough, a little sleep shouldn't scare you.

[But Dylas is so, so tired of this. Maybe he should just stay here. Maybe it'd be better for everyone.]

Which is why we're gonna travel at night an' you're gonna protect us, right?

[Reno's smirk was derisive. Let alone that he had chosen to come here, he had the poor habit of lashing out when he felt stressed... or threatened.]

I think you know a "little sleep" isn't what's scary. I'll take my chances an' wait 'til someone else is up.

[Someone else other than Dylas. It occurred to Reno, briefly, that he was maybe being too hard on the... whatever monster Dylas was. He'd befriended Henry, after all (though part of that was honest ignorance at the time). And, even if it wasn't manifested in wings or claws or horns... wasn't Reno also a monster, in a way?]

[He brushed the thought away. He was just on edge, that was all.]

The sooner we can figure out what we're doin' here, the better.

Is that something you're worried about? Yeah. The shit they can do usually doesn't work as well on other monsters.

[His ears flick down when Reno implies that he doesn't think leaving Dylas to be the only one awake is a good idea, interpreting it as distrust.]

I've already heard things. We'll go to the forest tomorrow.

[He doesn't care if Reno thinks he's a monster in his own way. Dylas doesn't have time for any existential dilemmas, he literally used to eat people. But the sun is coming up, so Dylas stands to his full height. He can sleep, even if Reno doesn't want to.]

I'll get you out of here. And when I do, you can leave me alone forever. sound fair?
