He might have to bend down if he wanted to keep that hand on her shoulder, as Lydia pulled her hood up, and her cloak around her. A surprised noise from BP, before he was clinging to her again and trilling softly. Especially as Lydia fell to her knees, and sort of curled in on herself in a ball of misery, shoulders shaking and sobs barely heard.

"She hasn't been crying though kupo." BP huffed, face twisting in a scowl. "She's been too busy doing her best to be strong for everyone else kupo." Turning to Ira, as he and Lin at least seemed to be properly concerned. "She's been battling insomnia and nightmares kupo. Trying to be strong and not get too close to anyone, even though she wants to. Do you know she volunteered, to be bait, during the serial killings? She didn't like how everyone was fighting and felt she could contribute that way kupo." Back to his hero, and hugging her tightly. "Lyds tries so hard to be a good Hero, even when she's not sure what that means."

"To be honest, I'm not sure either." He always had an ideal, but it was one he'd never be able to live up to. He was too selfish, too drawn to the darkness. A path that had led him down the road that severed nearly every opportunity to change, to grow. Yet if he left someone changed for the better, then...

Almost at once, Ira placed a hand to his forehead, almost as though something connected that had been severed ages ago.

Staring at a computer terminal, glancing back behind his shoulder, trying to be certain that no one was reading his screen as he responded to a private message. 'I don't mind causing others pain, but only to those who hurt my friends.'

The words that appeared in response set into motion a link of chains that had been disconnected and severed behind countless new chains, links that were no more real than his wireframe body. 'Now that, I understand fully. Protect the things that matter, right?'

Yet the pain was gone as soon as it had begun. That's right. He had sought the power Ira was made with for one purpose in particular. And if that loser could do it, then...

Shaking his head once, he knelt down in front of her, placing his right hand on her shoulder and lightly squeezing it. It was a wordless offer, and one of comfort he had only given to one other person in his short life. If she needed it, he was prepared--for once--to be clung to for a while.

Yes, he completely ignored Lin's inquiry, calling his name. He was fine, after all. It was only a memory--and a good one at that for a change.

Betel-Po shot him a thumbs-up, and did his best to nudge Lydia. She didn't need much persuading, now that the floodgate was open so to speak. Still with her hood up and buried in her cloak, but Lydia moved. Leaning against Ira, burying her head against his neck and shoulder and crying silently as her shoulders shook.

It was likely to be several minutes still before the flood of emotions will ebb.

Ira gave a thumbs up in return, before gently wrapping his arms around Lydia's shaking shoulders. He was so careful, even knowing his powers were cut off, because of who it was. Lyds was one of the handful he'd allowed himself to get close to, who treated him as his own person. Of all those gathered here, she was one of those he wanted to harm the least.

He was fine with whatever period of time she took. When she seemed to calm down somewhat, he almost-whispered: "Let's see if there are any pies in one of these worlds."

Nothing was better then a good, old-fashioned pie throwing contest. Besides if his temper was anything to go by, the others likely needed a brief laugh too.

Eventually the exhaustion hit, and Lydia clung with no reservations. She didn't know about his powers--and she probably wouldn't care even if she did. Lydia had been trying so hard to be strong for others, but also to not cling to her friends. Which went against her nature in some ways, as all she wanted was friends, especially in Crystallis where she was cut off from all she'd known.

For the first time in a while, Lydia felt safe to let herself be vulnerable, eventually clinging to him more tightly, ignoring grime and armor. His comment made a hiccupy short laugh come from her, which was a good sign. "If I could be sure which one lead to the Neitherworld, I'd take us there in a heartbeat." Her voice was raw from crying, but she felt better overall. A slightly tighter hug, nuzzling his shoulder and a whispered "Thank you".

"I don't mind testing a few others, and even if we don't find it right away, a bit of mischief wouldn't be remiss." He smirked faintly, squeezing her just a tiny bit more briefly before relenting. "Any time."

"Oh now I have to take you to the Neitherworld..." Lydia murmured at the idea of mischief, the hint of smile on her face tired from the crying, but still a smile. She definitely appreciated the hug a lot.
