Summary: Following the battle against Palitutu, all the Heroes of Light were transported into the Interdimensional Rift. They were told by Palitutu they would have to find her to prove they can break the cycle-- But before they could reach their destination, a malevolent entity from the Rift stripped them from their immortality...

And now, they woke up in a decaying and dying world, most specifically in a place called Order's Sanctuary. From there they are ready to jump... Into their homeworlds! Feel free to use this post for the Mingle at Order's Sanctuary and should your homeworld be the stage for the Heroes of Lights' next adventures, feel free to make a thread for it and as many sub-thread as necessary! Please refer to the OOC Post for questions and plotting.

SeeD Exam - Squall!

[pole_position]

[The whole setup of Balamb Garden reminds her a lot of Beacon Academy, so Pyrrha's feeling rather nostalgic. She knows there's work to be done here, though, so she doesn't linger long. The SeeD cadet exam seems like the most important thing happening, and she recognizes Squall's name from their encounter in the hospital, so she selects him as her partner. He can find her waiting outside the Garden's gates, stretching and limbering up as she gets ready for the mission.]

[Squall arrives at the gate a little while later after getting the message that he had a cadet to escort.

Despite the strangeness of being thrown back into his home world for whatever reason it was a slight comfort to handle something simple like this.

Upon arrival he sees Pyrrha and a little anxiety flips in his stomach. It was strange she was here, after running into her at the Hospital in Aqures Ixen only weeks before.]

Hi. I assume you're here for the SeeD exam...? I don't think I caught your name before.

Oh, hello again!

[Pyrrha waves when she sees Squall approaching, managing to look only slightly awkward as she gives a small bow of her head.]

Ah... that's right. It's Pyrrha Nikos.

[shear_trigger]

[Squall nods. Their first encounter was rather short, polite and somewhat awkward, so hopefully this would go smoothly...?]

Great. Let's get started, we'll head out immediately.

...What kind of jobs do you have equipped?

[He would only be providing minimal support to her during combat so knowing her skills is necessary to the test.]

[pole_position]

A Custom Job called Huntress that restores my powers from home, and Chocobo Knight.

[Her Chocobo is conspicuously missing.]

...I didn't have time to switch to anything else after the Ultima WEAPON fight.

[shear_trigger]

[Squall gives her a small nod.]

That'll be efficient enough for what we're doing. We don't have time to get you a bird though. You'll have to rely on your other skills.

[He turns, making his way for the exit without another word and expecting her to follow. He'd explain more on the road and answer any questions she had.]

That's fine. We haven't had a lot of time to train together.

[Pyrrha nods, checking her weapon once more before following along after Squall.]

Is there anything I should know about the trial?

[shear_trigger]

[They exit the Garden and start on the road towards the cavern. Luckily it wasn't too far off and the Garden wasn't leaving Balamb any time soon.]

Seeing as it's a fire based trial, you'll want to make sure you're equipped to deal with fire magic and enemies like bombs.

[For this, Squall had several blizzard spells drawn and Shiva was junctioned. That of course was for only if Pyrrha struggled.]

Once we get to the cavern, you'll have to defeat Ifrit without much help from me. Think you can handle it?

I'll do my best.

[Pyrrha's actually very confident, but she's never one to brag. Still, her bearing suggests that of a seasoned warrior.]

[shear_trigger]

[Squall gives her a small nod as an answer.

When the reach the cavern, Squall gives the command to the guards to let them in. Inside the place is exactly how one would expect. Hot and humid. Lava rivers flow heavily and the rocky paths are covered with jagged rocks. It's dark but illuminated by the surrounding lava pools and fires endlessly burning.

Just as predicted, as soon as they enter a Bomb floats over looking menacingly at them.]

It's all yours.

[pole_position]

[Pyrrha's used to fighting in all sorts of different places, so the heat doesn't particularly bother her. And when the Bomb appears, she springs immediately into action, jumping back a step and converting her weapon into its rifle form. She's familiar enough with these things from Crystallis to know that they have a nasty habit of exploding. Best to take it out from a distance. Taking aim, she fires off a few Dust-powered shots at it.]

[shear_trigger]

[Good. He’s impressed. Her weapon is interesting, somewhat like a gunblade. He nods in approval.]

Kill it before it explodes. I’m guessing you know the deal.

[To help her along Squall casts a minor blizzard spell, the ice damage taking immediate effect on the bomb. It jitters in pain from both their attacks.]

[pole_position]

Right.

[Pyrrha nods her confirmation, never taking her eyes off the target. Raising her weapon, she shifts it into its javelin form, lining up the shot and hurling it directly at center mass. And if that isn't enough to take the bomb out, it sails right back to Pyrrha like a boomerang somehow, hitting it again on the return. And all from a safe distance.]

[shear_trigger]

[The bomb makes a loud pained cackle and falls to the ground dead. Squall nods.]

Good. Let's keep going.

[They'll continue down the path carefully. Ifrit would be near soon which would be immensely more difficult than a simple Bomb.]

[pole_position]

[Pyrrha is 100% in business mode right now, nodding as she shifts her weapon into its sword form. She also takes her shield out, just in case.]

Is Ifrit's chamber ahead?

[shear_trigger]

[Squall doesn’t comment and only nods and points ahead. There up ahead is a central battle ground, already littered with damage and cracks. Ifrit stands ready and as they approach he cracks a knuckle in challenge.]

Ready?

[Squall adds some ice ammo to his gunblade, the weapon giving off some distinct clicks.]

[pole_position]

[Pyrrha doesn't have a variety of elemental dust crystals the way Weiss does in her weapon, so she'll just be relying on plain old explosive rounds. They get the job done when fighting the creatures of Grimm, after all.]

Ready.

[shear_trigger]

[Ifrit growls deeply at them and Squall takes that queue to begin. He enters first, expecting Pyrrha to stay on her toes. After all, it’s her test.

He begins with Magic Bullet, shooting three rapid shots of ice into Ifrit. He growls and swipes at them and Squall dodges away. Ifrit turns on Pyrrha and starts aiming a fire spell at her and it goes off with a loud crack.]

[pole_position]

[Pyrrha quickly brings her shield up to take the brunt of the attack as she charges through the flames, pulling her sword and taking a powerful swing at Ifrit. She's glowing red as she does so, her Aura strengthening both her speed and the strength of her strike.]

[shear_trigger]

[As her first strike lands Ifrit reels back and brings a large claw up to grab the brunt of her weapon. He growls in challenge and attempts to pull her weapon out of her hand Despite blood trickling from his palm.]

Don't let him disarm you.

[Squall casts blizzard again and Ifrit bends in pain but doesn't let go.]

[pole_position]

Got it!

[Keeping a firm grip on her weapon, Pyrrha jumps off the ground, planting a foot hard against Ifrit's chest and pushing off to vault backward. She's trying to use the momentum to both knock him back and pull her weapon free at the same time, an attempt which is augmented by her magnetic semblance.]

[shear_trigger]

[Ifrit reels back and snarls loudly at Pyrrha, letting go of the weapon and jumping back a few paces. He stares her down and then suddenly jumps at her with a clawed hand, going for her throat with immense speed.

Squall decides to see if she can handle this, though he's ready to step in if necessary.]

[pole_position]

[Pyrrha swiftly brings her shield up to block the blow, thrusting with her sword from behind it to try to score a hit.]

[shear_trigger]

[As Ifrit clashes with the shield, Pyrrha is just fast enough and her strike hits hard. The sword goes deep in Ifrit's shoulder. The guardian force howls in pain and staggers back once again and then speaks.]

Impudent humans...

[Squall moves into an attack stance, ready to go on the offensive. He casts protect on the two of them.]

Good work. We'll need to finish him off before he uses his strongest attack.

[pole_position]

[Pyrrha uses the opportunity to fall back to a defensive position, shifting her weapon into its rifle form and loading some ice elemental dust shots.]

Right. Let's pin him down.

[And without another word, she opens fire.]
