He might not have chosen the right words to say to Edna, but from the time that he spent with her, trying to be gentle with his words wouldn't help her any more than it would help him. In this situation, it was much easier to say it the way he did. Even if Sorey had to correct him, he was going to stick with what he said.

He feels just the same as anyone about what Edna has to do. It's a painful thought that this was the only way to save her brother. The couldn't find any way of purifying a dragon and saving it without having to result in this. He knew that Edna had to be mentally prepared for it. He never once mentioned it when they were in Crystallis.

He crosses his arms briefly as he met eyes with Sorey, keeping his silence since there isn't much to say other than to fight the Dragon that was once a Seraph at the peak of the mountain. I didn't feel any better even though he's been through it once with Edna. It's more painful knowing what was going to happen.

"There is no other way to return a dragon a its original form... unless you kill it," the way she said it, it was like she'd practised it for a long time, like something she might have said to herself over and over. But even then, the words still felt bitter as they seeped from her lips.

But Sorey, you... you had given her that last chance to believe it could be anything else, even as slim as a chance as she knew it was all along. She wanted to cry out, felt herself choking on the words what about our promise! but let them die in her throat instead.

Edna turned then, positioning herself in a way that turned her back to them both, just barely glimpsing Mikleo's way as she did. "It's okay," she said, directing it at him, "there's nothing anyone can do about it. I've always known it was true, he's nothing but a monster now."

So why... did it sound like she was still somehow trying to convince herself?

We all knew we were terrible people

When they first met, Sorey couldn't stand the thought of her being here alone on the mountain to face the tragedy by herself. She had been a stranger then - a seraphim he'd only just met. Now he knew her better, considered her a close friend and it only made the task ahead of them that much harder. Just the thought of having to resort to killing was bad enough but the devastation it would have on Edna was even worse. Edna had always confused him with the way she handled things but he heard it now.

Heard how she was trying to make herself believe in her own words, heard the bitterness and saw more in the turn of her actions then he had when they first met. Sorey often saw the backside of her umbrella when she didn't want them to see her face and sometimes it spoke louder, harsher truths than her words tended to.

All of it made him want to reconsider what they're planning to do, to keep hold of the promise he made to her and continue looking for a way to purify the malevolence that's consumed Aizen. Sorey stared at Edna's umbrella as if it contained all of the secrets he possibly needed to make things right. If there was nothing in Glenwood... maybe there was something beyond the continent. Something somewhere in the world.

Suddenly as if struck by a bolt of lightning, he looked over at Mikleo. Unable to say what was burning in his mind but willing Mikleo to know exactly what he was thinking like he always does. If there are no answers in their world - then what about Crystallis?

Mikleo was silent when he made eye contact with her briefly. He doesn't have much to offer right now as he thinks about what to say to Edna. It was better to choose his words now that she had gotten to this point. He can tell that she's not convincing herself anymore than they are in regards to Eizen.

"If we had more time, we could continue to search but it is a luxury that we don't have. I truly wish that we found some other way to save your brother."

He truly believed that. Honestly, he was like Sorey. He wanted to believe that they could at least save a Seraph that way, but the Seraphim are powerful yet fragile beings. Something like this won't easily be solved by sheer will alone. Sometimes, the decisions are rough and sometimes there's nothing else they can do.

AS Sorey looks at him for an thought on Crystallis, he thought about it for a moment. The technology was definitely advance there but there had been little that he found on Dragons or anything that could possibly lead them towards the right path with Eizen. He shakes his head briefly.

"I'm not entirely sure we can find one in Crystallis. Given the world is vastly different from ours, however I am not opposed to it if we wish to find a way to Crystallis for this matter."

Behind the safety of her umbrella, Edna could no longer hide the trembling of her hands, no matter how hard she gripped it's handle. Sorey... only you, after all this time would try to still keep hope alive... she could guess what he was thinking. The soft-hearted Shepherd... someone she had come to trust, even if she knew he'd break his promise someday.

And Mikleo... when she heard him speak, it was all she could do to choke down a cry when he said those words. Mikleo who had stayed by her bedside all night when she was taken by a fevered dream... just like a brother might.

But her real brother was...

A monster that's devoured countless humans and seraphim alike. He's so far gone he... "He doesn't even recognize me anymore." Her voice shook now, there was no holding it in anymore. "But I kept holding on... I didn't want to give up on the possibility of him turning back the way he was." Sorey... you knew it was true too, right? As painful as it might be... "I've held onto that silly desire for hundreds of years," she confessed, the sound coming from her straining even thinner as she forced herself on. "I knew the truth in my heart, but I just— couldn't abandon my brother."

There was a pause, and finally... "I know we have to kill him. As long as he's still alive, I—" was this... her conviction, at last?

When they'd first set out, he made her a promise that they would find another way. In all their travels across Glenwood they found nothing but the world is much bigger than just one continent. It was even bigger than just their world. Mikleo and Edna were proof of that having come in from another world altogether. If they had all the time in the world, Sorey would search every corner of every world to find a better way. All so that Edna could have her brother back, so she wouldn't be hurt by what they'd originally come here to do.

He wanted to say more in response to Mikleo - that if Crystallis had connected to their world then it must have done the same to others. They have access to so much knowledge right now, something that could lead them to an answer.

All of this are things he's about to say but Edna's words stop him. Sorey stared at her umbrella as it was the only thing he can really see of her. It was his way of giving her the attention she needed (not necessarily wanted) even if she can't actually see that his eyes are on her. He doesn't want to give up but ultimately, it's Edna's decision in the end.

"Whatever you want to do, Edna. We're with you." The earth seraph could get them to walk up that mountain the last bit or she could turn around and let Sorey attempt to keep his promise.

He wasn't trying to hurt her, really. He was just doing his best to help her move forward in however way she feels will be necessary. Edna was a strong individual, even at her weakest. He knew that she would never try to show any of her weaknesses in front of them. This meant a lot when Edna was shaking and and uncertain, feeling emotionally compromised.

The thought of killing one's family really didn't feel right with him. Given he and Sorey had to sacrifice their feelings in order to stop Heldalf and save Gramps. He tightened his hands at his side thinking about what had gone down with Heldalf and what had happened with Gramps. The pain they had to go through just to stop Heldalf and saving their adopted grandfather. Sorey had yet to know that and Mikleo had to bite his lips and not say anything about it.

The thought that Edna had to kill Eizen was painful. It was more painful knowing the outcome and results of it all. They could travel to other worlds, certainly but he wasn't sure that it would be safe to go through those worlds the way they were thinking. There is plenty of knowledge to obtain and more to gather. He knew that. He was positive that if they really wanted to go that route they could try. Trying was better than just killing Eizen right? Maybe they could really save him?

"Yes, just let us know what we can do to assist you Edna. You aren't alone."

His voice was even but it wasn't like he wanted to say it. He wanted to say something about Crystallis and the worlds, thinking back on it.

"It's so selfish of him!" Here these boys were, telling her that they'd stand by her, that they'd do whatever they could to help her. And the one she wanted most to say those things, so be here... Eizen...

"Leaving on a journey without me," Edna chokes, "Becoming a dragon without telling me! Didn't he even think about how lonely it would be without him?!" the earth seraph collapses to her knees, trusty umbrella shielding her dignity, even though her sobs were starting to come uncontrollably now.

"Eizen!" Edna cried, unable to stop the tears as she shook on the ground, "I... I want to see you again!" she sobbed.
