Re: MOUNT GAGAZET: SEYMOUR FLUX
Besides, what little he'd learned of Spira had piqued his interest... though it seemed they were about to leave society behind, not study it up close. That was too bad.
"So, we're going hiking?" Jade's smile was bright as usual. The freezing wind didn't seem to bother him at all. Having grown up in a cold region had its advantages. "I almost feel at home already."
Re: MOUNT GAGAZET: SEYMOUR FLUX
Or the fact that, Zanarkand was just around the corner. Was she just going to end up failing to stop Yuna? How could they just stumble to the end like this? The Pilgrimage was supposed to, give her more time!
Stubbornly blinking spiral eyes clear, she scans the proud Ronsos below hopefully. Shoulders falling, Rikku turns back. When she thinks Yuna won't notice, she tries shooting Sephiroth and Jade a strangely pleading look. Breath fogging, she remains silent.

As she dredged on, thousands of thoughts in her head and refusing to give any of them a voice. While they continued, several grave markers began to litter the path, some swords still in good shape, others rusted by time gone by.
And Yuna... stopped to offer a prayer to them all.
no subject
Though- the grave markers were not exactly the encouraging sign she would have hoped for. She stood back, uncertain, glancing at the others to see why they thought.
no subject
He wasn't sure if Jade caught it too, but as Yuna and K'pandolu turned their attention towards the veritable hike they had ahead of them, Sephiroth slowed his pace some so that if Rikku needed to say something quietly, there could be the opportunity. She's clearly got more of an idea what might wait for them up the mountain than he did.
Swords as grave markers, there was an uncomfortable thought. Unsettling how many warriors might have gotten this far, only to fail.
no subject
"What's wrong?" he asked in a low voice.
no subject
"Yuna...don't let her reach Zanarkand. Delay us, make us turn back for some reason. Anything."
Her cousin's footsteps crunched lightly in the snow up ahead. Slow progress, that always felt far too fast. "Summoners, they're sacrifices. She'll die! Please. Help me save her."
no subject
A flick of a glance across to Jade, questioning in case the other man had any inkling about this, before Sephiroth turned his sharp attention back to Rikku; trying to pinpoint some tell, anything, in her body language about what brought this concern on. Moreover, why bring it up now, when they were apparently reaching the end of their journey.
"- not sure that I understand..."
no subject
"If Yuna reaches Zanarkand the way things are now, she fights Sin and dies for sure. She thinks it's the only way. It's not!" It looked like, the girl believed this at least. No need to tell them, Tidus and her - had not found it yet. The Al Bhed desperately hoped the two not being Spiran would work in her favor.
Releasing a muffled, frustrated sound, Rikku clenches a fist. The motion slow to not draw attention. "It's not like, I think you could ever stop her. Even if she wound up at the starting point of the Pilgrimage, Yuna would just start all over again. This stupid portal business totally messed up the plan to save her! You can buy me time to fix this, or I'll do it on my own. Either way you choose, your best bet of surviving this mountain - is helping me protect her."
Not bothering to wait for an answer, she turns heel to jog ahead and catch up to the summoner, letting the cold mountain air sting her face clear.
no subject
Yet an older Yuna had certainly existed. Not only that, but she had left her duty as a summoner behind, as far as he could tell. Wouldn't that mean she would survive this Sin, whatever that was?
Unfortunately, Jade's knowledge of the events had rather huge holes. Yuna was important to Spira, enough so to attract the attention of powerful men, but that was about all he could say for sure. He glanced at Sephiroth and gave a small shrug. They's have to play it by the ear.
no subject
Tucking it away in one of her sleeves, she looked back at the group, and nodded, continuing up the pathway towards a rather steep cliff.
"We must... almost be at the peak," she looked on, as the wind began to kick up.
no subject
"Would we be able to see Zanarkand from there?" she asked, for curiosity's sake.
no subject
Jade's shrug was met with a returned shrug, as Sephiroth turned back to where Rikku had jogged ahead. He couldn't see Yuna ahead, and given what had just been said it concerned him instantly but once he'd caught up to the small inlet along the wall of the mountain. Releasing the breath he'd been holding in a mist of vapor as he shrugged his arms out -better to keep them moving in the cold- and paused to listen to the conversation between K'pandolu and Yuna.
no subject
"But," she looked back, putting on her best brave face again, "there's only one way to find out, right?" and on she trudged, having committed the small, forgotten camp, to memory.
no subject
Hopefully, they would pay attention now after planting that warning. There would still be camps ahead to sneak away from and plot if they decided to help. She had to try.
Her boots were unusually loud as she moved in stride with Yuna, "Are you sure you don't..."
Hearing they were near the summit had felt like a curse.
"...want to wait for the others, or go find them?"
Saying it to Yuna, felt terrible, for far too many reasons. As much as Rikku wanted the excuse for them to delay -- it also seemed genuinely reckless to continue without their strength.
no subject
She tilted her head towards Rikku, ear twitching in thought. "Maybe if we found some shelter to wait in?" she suggested. "If we were to wait, of course."
no subject
Sephiroth was just coming into earshot as K'pandolu mentioned that it might be a good idea to find some shelter. He made a point not to connect eye-contact with Rikku at all and so instead looked from the miqo'te to Yuna.
"It's better to travel shorter distances and conserve energy where we can, in this climate, rather than pushing too far and wearing ourselves out."
no subject
If Rikku wanted them to buy time, that was easy enough to arrange. Yuna was unlikely to want to push the group too much.
"How about it, Yuna? Time for a break?"
no subject
"All right," Yuna caved, but looked up towards the north, "we'll make camp there, on the high ground. If... that's all right with everyone," there was a nod, an attempt at a smile, and then she lead the way.
It was only a short climb from where they'd been, but it would at least provide adequate shelter... probably. Unless you fell off the broadside of the cliff. A natural jut out of the rocks provided respite from the wind, as Yuna drifted down to her knees to rest.
no subject
Until the older girl spoke, but then. The others chimed in, stealing this time. Every moment more valuable than all the Gil in Spira.
Thank you.
"Sounds good!" Suddenly sounding cheerful, there's the slightest of pauses after Yuna presses forwards. Then the brightly clad girl is bounding up the icy slope to flop down beside her cousin.
no subject
Then again, she'd mostly lived in more temperature zones.
no subject
It almost feels as though they need to get a fire going, grab a quick bite to eat...but the how escapes him. He's not sure anyone might be a black mage, either.
"It is-" He agrees with K'pandolu, finally sitting down but not before pulling all of his hair forward so he's not going to sit on it. "-destiny doesn't ever make it easy."
Sorry I'm late!
He crouched down and held out his hands palms up. A flaming sphere was conjured in the air and stayed suspended above his hands. Firaga was probably pushing it a bit, but at least they didn't lack heat.
"Warm up while you can, everyone," he said cheerfully. "Did anyone bring snacks?"
