[Top level: Arrival]
[It's Spencer, flitting up from the ground and after Sephiroth, as he's noticed others others seem to be coming through as well. The latter stops and turns back, most of the system shock receding as he takes the time to take a careful look to survey their surroundings and observe, in particular, Cloud and Vincent.]
This is Gaia-
[He manages to explain to Rukia, before Vincent quickly presents something that they should all take a moment to consider. Gongaga...that was Zack's hometown but-
-the last he recalled, no matter how far he might try to cast his mind back, not that he'd been on a need-to-know at the time but as far as he had been aware the reactor had been in perfect working order. Suddenly Vincent's statement about when they are, more than where they are, became that much more important.]
-do you know what happened here, Vincent?
[A tiny drop of blood threatens to drop from one of Sephiroth's nostrils. A common side effect of any type of physical over-stimulation. It's tapped away a moment later though by the bend of his gloved finger.]
[Top level: Arrival]
You'll have to forgive my ignorance. What is Gongaga?
[There's a strange pressure in the air, she realizes. It's hard to pinpoint what that is, since her custom job doesn't allow her to fully recognize spiritual reiatsu and powers, but there's a definite tickling at her sixth sense.]
You are all, perhaps, better equipped to identify our trial in order to locate the next portal. But I will lend my assistance where it is needed.
[Her gaze flicks to Sephiroth before moving on...then sharply returns. He's bleeding? She chooses not to say anything in case he needs to be discreet, but she's fixing him with a hard look, a silent inquiry as to whether or not he's all right.]
[Top level: Arrival]
[She answers quickly, though surprised at the devastation they arrive to. Judging by the rust, it had been destroyed some time ago, and yet she found herself in a rather horrified awe.]
It... almost looks as though someone-
[She doesn't get to finish the thought, however, a sudden wave of pain sending Lucrecia to her knees. Ah, she'd almost forgotten this sensation; of vision distorting and the world almost becoming white-hot before sensing the earth beneath her again. Perhaps she should have expected it, upon realizing which planet it was. Yet what sort of expectation could ever prepare anyone for the proverbial rug pull?]
Nngh... Not again.
Re: [Top level: Arrival]
No, he hadn't been able to prevent this or save her at all, had he? If they were returned to the state they were pulled from, upon setting foot on Gaia once more, then of course her suffering would return too. Perhaps it was even more cruel, as she was actively aware and mobile instead of encased in her crystalline tomb.]
Gongaga was once the site of a stable Mako reactor. It's remained a small foothill town since I can recall.
[Moving as he speaks, most of his attention on Lucrecia as he crouches down by her. Ophelia has moved to gently holding on to the woman's arm, trying to offer some comfort. Vincent looks up to meet Sephiroth's and Cloud's eyes.]
Judging from your reactions, its state is new to you. In the time I was pulled from however, we had been here and it was as you see. Our visit was only brief though.
[Quiet for a moment, trying to place events. Avalanche had been here, but it had been a second trip apparently for Cloud and Tifa and Barret, when Vincent had been part of the group. They hadn't lingered, only stopped to resupply and the townsfolk had given them enough strange looks that he hadn't pried.]
[Top level: Arrival]
Lucrecia's coming forward and then just collapsing to her knees mid-thought tears Sephiroth's attention from Rukia just as much as it did for Vincent. He has to stop himself from also reacting by instantly being there - where exactly had that certain pull to his actions come from, anyway? Wasn't her suffering here his fault, though? Such an odd thought.
Spencer seemed to have cottoned on as well and, always keen to help anything Ophelia puts their effort to, flutters down near to Lucrecia's knee, his head tilted up and to one side curiously.
In meantime, Sephiroth thinks though the events as he had read of them. Regrettably there hadn't been much in the way of details of the trek that his future self essentially pulls Cloud and his group along by.]
I'm presuming you mean, during Reunion...
Re: [Top level: Arrival]
Ironic that they would end up here and now like this.
The vertigo and fatigue pass, but Cloud can still feel the emptiness where the power he gained is now missing. He looks around the wreckage, eyes narrowing as he takes it in. Last he recalled this reactor was fine. And there was no telling how long it had been like this but...]
Gongaga. Zack is from here. His parents...do you think-
'KWEH!'
[His words are cut off by the angry sounds of a chocobo pushing its way past a fallen bit of piping. Cloud hadn't realized his chocobo had followed along, but perhaps it knew something they didn't. He backtracks a bit to help free up his bird's passage, giving it a pat as it comes through. ChocoZack moves to join the other's at Lucrecia's side, lowering himself down in case she needs to mount up.
Cloud continues to look about, making his way up the path through the ruins. He can see the forest beyond, and the rooftops of the nearby town.] We're...we're not far from Nibelheim. [He looks off in the distance towards his hometown, but then after a moment's thought turns away.] We probably shouldn't go there, should we.
Re: [Top level: Arrival]
[Rukia says this with a nod toward the woman she hasn't met and doesn't know. Whatever this place is doing, it doesn't seem to be good for her, nor for Sephiroth either. Is he undergoing the same effects? Does he just hide it better?]
Perhaps we should look around the wreckage. Is there any danger here we should take into account? If not, it may be best if we split up to cover more ground.
[OOC: Don't feel like you have to wait for me if I run slow. Rukia's the tagalong, she can be skipped!]
Re: [Top level: Arrival]
[He sneezed and rubbed his nose, the smell of Mako in the air feeling strange after three years without it.]
This is Gongaga, alright. An' regardless a' when, specifically, it's definitely at least three years after your death. [He gestured at Sephiroth.] The first one. So if there was ever any doubt we'd have t' hide yer ass...
[He left Lucrecia alone for now. She seemed to have the attention she needed with Vincent. He pocketed his hands and took a few more steps forward, assessing the scene.]
I wouldn't hang around here for too long. There's the off-chance some materia formed, but overall, the place is sorta toxic.
[He glanced at Cloud.]
... Last I heard, Zack's parents were alive -- at least, in my time. If you really wanted to, I wouldn't mind taking a look.
[Top level: Arrival]
A very good point. Even if it were only three years after his first death...he knows enough about his own story to piece two-and-two together. Worse, for all they knew it could be much later...]
So how do you suppose we go about this? [He open-shrugs, gesturing to his attire more than anything. Clad still in the base black uniform of a 1st class SOLDIER -albeit with his silver pauldrons, one cracked- with his hair tied up out of the way. Despite the slight appearance differentiation, he's still very much Sephiroth, and he's about as identifiable as anyone could be.]
Gongaga is backwater enough, so I guess that depends on how informed the general populace was made in my...wake?
[There is a question for a Turk, if there was ever one. But how else could they proceed? Not that hiding out for a few days in the ruins of a mako reactor would necessarily harm him, but-]
Re: [Top level: Arrival]
[A half-lie, but she wasn't going to explain to them the consequences of her sins. Yet she doesn't really wave Vincent off either. Instead she glances at him, nodding once. Hopefully he will understand and help her up.]
He's right. While we shouldn't linger here, it would be more prudent to.. send a few out for disguises.
[Mainly for
her sonSephiroth, but the longer she stayed here, the more likely her own symptoms would worsen.]Re: [Top level: Arrival]
Stay still Zack, thank you.
[Expedient from there, as well as easier, to simply move to pick Lucrecia up himself. Helping her settle on the chocobo, Ophelia fluttering up nearby, hands wringing in her scarf in worry. Then Vincent let the rest of the group have his attention.]
Unless the portal closes behind us, we'll have to come back periodically to check here. Nibelheim is not a good location, but it isn't so far that some of us can't go there and get supplies and clothes.
[A look at Reno there, shared between them. Then crimson eyes slid to Rukia.]
If you come with us you'll likely have questions. Some we won't want to answer--but you're a stranger here Miss Rukia. You're probably best suited to help us obtain what we need.
[OOC: Hope it's okay to do that with Zack, Tazrael. Seemed implied in your post that the chocobo wouldn't mind.]
Re: [Top level: Arrival]
[Rukia works her head from side to side as if she's getting the kinks out of her neck. But she's smiling a touch too confidently.]
It depends on the average spiritual level of the citizens here as well. If they don't have any sort of supernatural gifts, they might not be able to see me. It may work in our favor, it may not.
[She definitely has no qualms about just taking what they need and not leaving payment. Necessity means they can't afford to be polite law-abiding citizens.]
Regardless.
[She nods at Lucrecia.]
It may be in our best interest to make haste. Some of you don't appear to be adapting well to this world.
[And she'll totally start walking forward toward the ruined mako reactor, because she's a tiny bossy lady completely accustomed to taking the lead if no one else does.]
Re: [Top level: Arrival]
Humans lost their ability to commune with the Planet generations ago. The Planet, as it's referred to in this context is essentially the collective consciousness of all life energy as it passes between life and death, a constant recycling process.
I'm unsure where, exactly, a shinigami would really fit into the mechanics of the life cycle, here.
[He might well sound more matter-of-fact, almost coldly logical in the way he speaks of it. Almost scientific.
He looks again to Lucrecia, successfully masking the itching concern for the time being. Before eventually resting his attention on his moogle as he -too- does his best to help the others in helping her. Pondering.]
Might it not make more sense to scope out more locally, in the town nearby, than splitting up and hiking it to Nibelheim for supplies?
[Never mind the fact it's quite high up on the list of places Sephiroth decidedly does not want to go; especially considering what Reno had said about potentially when they were. No matter how there is a curiosity, that sits there in itself, with regards to exactly those documents he's yet to read for himself.]
Re: [Top level: Arrival]
It seems I wouldn't be noticed, then. Tch...I haven't had this custom job long enough to access my gigai.
[Then again, it could wind up being high comedy if she waltzes into a store to pick up some supplies when she actually can be seen.]
I agree. If there is a town close by, we should investigate it thoroughly before moving on in search of the next portal.
[She turns to face Gongaga, folding her arms with a surprisingly pleased look on her face.]
I'm curious to see the native inhabitants of this world!
[And off she goes, apparently enjoying herself on this little excursion.]
no subject
[Good thing he wouldn't be going alone.]
Rukia, you're with me. Get ready to be hated. Vincent, I want you ta' give us some distance an' watch our flanks, just in case things go south.
Sephiroth an' Cloud stay here, keep an eye on Lucrecia. None a' you can be seen, alright?
We won't be too long, we'll just head inta' Gongaga for now. No reason t' go all the way to Nibelheim split up like this.
no subject
Right...I'll do my best.
'Kweh!'
[At least they have Zack with them. He could count on his bird to help pick up the slack. And he still has his training with his weapons, even if much of the power he's gained to put behind them is gone.]
Come back when you figure out when we are, okay?
no subject
[Rukia blinks at that, puzzled, but she doesn't seem all that concerned about being hated. This is all contingent on whether or not she's even seen anyway. She nods firmly once.]
Yes. Understood.
[She steps forward to stand at Reno's side, a proud defender
half his sizewho looks to be taking her duty seriously. As Reno said, she doesn't think they'll be gone all that long. She inclines her head to the others before looking to Reno, turning to follow his lead.]no subject
She'd be alright--and better still once they figured out where the portal out of Gaia was. Until then...well... Vincent would have to trust that she was stronger than she had been before. Crystallis had changed her, much as it changed him as well.
Turning to nod his head at the others.]
I have your back and will cover you. Get basic supplies if you can besides clothing. Molotovs...should be in one of the shops. Potions and Ethers.
[Because explosives were always useful right? Considering the seriousness of the mission, he trusted Reno's judgement. ]
no subject
Though since one of the Turks in the group suggested it, she would take his word on the matter. At least the worst of the pain was beginning to subside. She flashed a brief smile to Vincent, hoping he'd get the hint that he wouldn't have to worry about her for a while.]
It's... fading for now.
[She looks between Cloud and Sephiroth, gaze lingering on the latter a bit longer before she settles on petting Zack's neck.]
...Sorry.
[It's... rather embarrassing, to show this weakness in front of everyone that until this moment, Vincent only knew about. If only she were stronger, like she had thought she was. Perhaps all those months had been taken for granted after all.]
no subject
The small mercy, perhaps, that they were in the middle of 'no where' comparing to other locations they could have ended up. Migdar, or Junon, would have presented a much easier way to tell when but the risk would have been greater. Hence why Sephiroth doesn't utter a peep in being told to stay put even though he wants very much to do his part.
A quick glance from Reno, to Cloud and finally Lucrecia as it seems they're all to be left here for now. He's refusing to let it bother him, despite the obvious fact that she's not going to have an easy time of this stay on Gaia, being right in his face.]
It's not your fault- ['It's mine', says a little voice inside, but unspoken.] -at all.
no subject
[She almost says 'no one else's', but something stops her from doing so. No, she... hadn't been entirely sure about the experiment, had she? She'd dwell on it later.]
This isn't-- the best time to discuss this.
[The longer they linger, the more likely they are to be noticed. Even in this remote area. It was best that the others went into town and so they can all get moving.]
