And now, they woke up in a decaying and dying world, most specifically in a place called Order's Sanctuary. From there they are ready to jump... Into their homeworlds! Kaji should have expected that the answer would be a 'little of column a, little of column b, but something else, too.' He's currently got Archer/Gunner equipped, with the bow as his main weapon. The ranged classes work too well together.

"Cadets," Kaji mutters, he doesn't like the sound of that. "Pick your targets, you've got it. Some of the things from Crystallis exist here, too?" Which, on one hand, means Kaji should be well-equipped, but on the other, means things could go very weird very rapidly.

[ Ace's eyes narrow, the boy feeling like he hasn’t able to get his message across. It was never an invitation to fight, merely a warning of what might come. ]

As long as we're here, I’m one of these cadets.

[ He directs his words at Kaji before turning to Sephiroth. ]

None, if we manage to keep a low profile. I don't have to explain why a group of strangers emerging from a place of such importance could raise suspicion, do I? I just want to ensure there is no misunderstanding.

[ For that very reason he decides to make a quick check of his own, belatedly noticing the change in his own attire. His Summoner robes have been replaced with a black uniform uniform - tattered and missing its mantle, but undoubtedly the same one he used to wear. He doesn't have to search for long to find a deck of cards resting in its rightful place. It all leaves the matter of his skills. Relying on the power of Jobs, he's nearly forgotten the sense of freedom he once had as a cadet, and the strength that came so naturally as a result of years of practice... is it still even there?

Before that, there's still one question left unanswered. ]

About that...-

[ The portal activates with a flash, cutting his response short. The Heroes will then find themselves standing in one end of a short corridor. Once again, there isn't any windows in the room, so the only sources of light are crimson lamps lined up along the walls. By the look of things, the corridor's sole purpose is linking the portal to another chamber - aside from a set of heavy doors situated up ahead, there doesn't seem to be any other way out.

Most importantly, the Heroes aren't completely alone in there, either. Before any of them manages to as much as make a step forward, the doors begin to open with a creaking sound. Rather than burst their way in, the person on the other side certainly takes their time... it might give the group enough time to prepare for whatever comes next.

As if that wasn't enough, the movement comes to a halt before the doors are even halfway open. The creature which then slips through should seem familiar enough to those who have held the bestiary at least once. ]

[There seems always to be fighting involved, and not least to mention Sephiroth's predilection for expecting one. At Ace's reply he backtracks over that thought process and seems to both straighten and loosen up a little more. Not that he's certain how they -wouldn't- raise a few eyebrows, those of them that aren't from this world, but it's no different than any other he's been through til this point.

As Ace checks over himself, Sephiroth does also. Brushing down the front of his combat pants as if that alone might make them cleaner, trying to ignore the straw like feeling as his high-tail of hair brushes his arm as he looks back to make sure his moogle, Spencer, hasn't wandered too far off.

Then like a flash, they are in a different place. Automatically Sephiroth's stance is spread and his hand is back hovering over the handle to Masamune, the sheath poised ready for it to be drawn yet -mindful of Ace's words before- he sternly reigns that control back in and instead draws a series of deep breaths.]

-was that-

[He asks of Ace, whom he presumes is nearby still, while flicking gleaming eyes from crimson lamp to crimson lamp all the way down the corridor and eventually the heavy door at the end.

He holds a breath as the door creaks open, hand tightening around the handle of his sword. Holding too onto that initial skill of his custom job, given as he's trying to be smarter in it's use given as he's not had much of a chance to let the cooldown run it's course. Spencer, in the meantime, has flitted up and away from Sephiroth's side, knowing well the space he'll need to attack should it come to it-]

....tonberries, here too?

[At least, if his experience is anything to go by, they are particularly fast creatures...until they get up close, anyway.]

Among other creatures, yes. [ Unexpectedly, Ace drops his guard, gesturing the others to do the same with a swift move of his hand. ] This one is an ally.

[ The Tonberry himself does very little to reassure those who might still hold a drop of doubt, making no sound of acknowledgment as he begins to trudge forward. The weapon in his tiny hands, seems to have been upgraded a notch, but the robes are coloured black instead of regular brown, resembling a student's uniform. ]

For a long time, he'd been an attendant of our commanding officer - crimson is reserved for the members of Class Zero. [ Indeed, the mantle wrapped around the creature's neck is the colour of deep red, stating his allegiance.

Lowering himself onto one knee somewhat cautiously, Ace extends his hand towards the Tonberry, but rather than respond with a greeting, the creature simply skids to a halt in front of him. Although the yellow eyes betray no hostility, there is no display of kindness expected from getting to see one of your own. It's almost as though he's expecting the boy to deliver a proof of his bold claims.

The cadet obliges with a nod, wordlessly reaching behind his neck to unclasp a thin chain hidden beneath the collar of his uniform. The reason for it is the small metal plate hanging from it, that he holds up for the Tonberry to see. ]

It's me. I don't have time to explain everything what happened, but my companions can be trusted. Please, let us progress.

[ Initially, there's no reaction, making it seem like the attempt has failed - but following a moment of confusion, the creature finally steps to the side. Unable to mask his expression of relief, Ace hurriedly hides the chain within the confines of his pocket and rises to his feet. ]

I... think I recognise the room ahead. It's Mother's study.
