[One night in Gongaga - Aftermath - Open]
That's right, they're all mortal now.
He should have put distance between himself and the others as soon as any obvious hint of the timeline had become crystal clear. He should have worn the hooded cloak that had been brought back for him from the town...yet at the same time, they also should have moved from the location they'd landed in...sooner. Someone was always going to notice.]
Damn...
[Even reaching the treeline, he didn't stop. The thick black shapes in the dead of night could be trees, predators or other operatives staking out for am ambush.
Sephiroth ran until he felt that his chest might burst from the exertion, adrenaline and mako propelling him as deep into the jungle as he felt safe. Only then, when he first almost missed a step, did he dodge around the back of a thick tree and smack his back hard against it. It knocked his breath a bit from him and then he made to sit down against it, only then releasing the moogle from inside the short black cloak....
To catch his breath, to slow down the adrenaline coursing so thick it might make anyone feel sick...
Should've lost them.]
Re: [One night in Gongaga - Aftermath - Open]
Zack was sent on ahead with Lucrecia, another foolish and noble choice from the blonde, and so he gave chase after Sephiroth but running out of breath far faster. And so he was the last of the group that had remained at the Reactor to reach the treeline, panting for breath and not doing a very good job of stealth. At least luck was with him for once.]
[One night in Gongaga - Aftermath - Open]
Though Cloud might be in a particularly old issue of the uniform of the ShinRa security forces, it would cause a lot more hesitation than his very specific stream of silver hair in the moonlight. It seemed even the weather tonight was against them.]
Pssst, ku-po! [Came a quiet noise from above Cloud's head after a little while as Spencer drops just enough down from a branch -having managed to navigate his way through the canopy to find the young man- to be seen only before rising back more into the dark shadows above.]
Get down, kupo-
[Just in time as the unmistakable sound of heavy boots on rich earth, nearby, thundered through the trees.]
no subject
And that surprise was probably the biggest help they could get, as she continued using it to her advantage so the others could get away. She could hear the frustrated noises as people's aim was thrown off by the repeated use of one of her seals. Finally, after determining it was safe for her to retreat, she did so, Shunshin giving her the bonus speed she needed after Smoke Bombing her ass out of there.
Reaching the edge of the forest, she relocated to within the foliage, keeping an eye out for her comrades. She was about to join Cloud and Spencer when the Moogle's warning floated up to her. As well as the Moogle himself--where she clamped a hand over his mouth to keep him from crying out. ]

There. He could hear the clomping of heavy boots down below. The troops were too busy looking around them to notice the threat from above.
This should be fun. Jade had originally picked his Onion Knight skills for Palitutu, but they'd work well here. In a blink of an eye, Jade used Vanish to appear behind a soldier and swiftly knocked the man out. The second the others turned in alarm, he Flash-stepped behind another one to give them a good whack, and in the next instant he was up in the air and coming down on the last one with the Jumping ability of a Dragoon.
With that group taken care of, Jade paused to listen. He could hear movement and shouting in the distance, but at least they'd have a little while before the rest of the assailants caught up. Soon back up in the trees, he Jumped and Flash-stepped from branch to branch until he found the other Heroes.]
Everyone holding up?
no subject
Hunkering down in the brush, his nerves were pulled taut as he waited for some sign, either of danger or safety to show itself. That the first faces that he saw come out from the foliage were Sheena and Jade filled him with relief.
I'm doing okay. Thank you guys. They're after Sephiroth I think but there isn't anything I can do for him right now.
[He glances a bit sidelong at Jade.]
I didn't see you with us when we arrived. Were you okay?
no subject
[Spencer didn't much like suddenly having his muzzle clamped around by Sheena's hand as they all ducked into the foliage and out of sight. He wants to argue that he'd be much better up in the trees, and didn't they know he knew where Sephiroth had gone to!
But as the sound of the incoming firing squad seems to have been, interrupted just as Jade flash-appeared seemingly out of no where, the small moogle wriggled out of Sheena's grasp.
Only to stop, shock-still as he notices the discoloration of the back of one of his paws in the moonlight. Damn, where had he picked up that blood from!? If he could go any paler, he would have.]
...we need to find...ku-pooo...
[Spencer's voice is small and almost quivering with concern. He'd been tucked in the cloak as Sephiroth had ran, surely that didn't mean...]
no subject
Lucrecia finally got Zack to slow down, looking back to the others as she tried to urge him to head back towards them. After a bit of coaxing, she's successful. A part of her is almost relieved to see Jade, but there is one still unaccounted for.]
Where's Sephiroth, kupo? [Orpheus speaks up first, having been slightly squished as he stayed between her and Zack's neck in an effort to stay with his Hero as they fled.]
Where's my son?
no subject
He can't have gone far. I'll go look.
[Soon he's back up in the trees, searching for a glimpse of silver in the darkness. Had Sephiroth run ahead of them?]
no subject
He sits flush against the base of the tree, still catching his breath, but making a point not to pant so heavily; it's not really all that audible until Jade got closer.
He does seem to be wanting to will himself to vanish, though, the way that he's all huddled as small as can be (which really isn't that small) in the cloak.]
no subject
I'll go too. Zack, stay here.
[He doesn't care that he's been weakened by the trip to this world. He knows that he has to do the right thing. And the right thing right now is to look for Sephiroth. The chocobo gives a frustrated fluff of its feathers as Cloud creeps off after Jade but he stays put.]
no subject
[ Sheena's whisper is soft, barely audible to anyone--save for the Moogle it's directed to. Anything else to be said is stopped by Jade's sudden appearance, and the ninja loosens her grasp on Spencer.
Only to return again in a comforting gesture as she takes his paw in her hand. ]
Don't worry, Spencer. We'll find him, okay?
[ She squeezes his paw once more before ordering Corrine to stay with him and heading into the trees as well. Her movements are lithe and quick, and eerily silent as she moves under her own power as she follows Jade through the branches, her own eyes peeled for that tell-tale silver hair.
And her ears peeled for any trouble. ]
no subject
So it's the moogles, Zack and Lucrecia left behind as the small three-man party seemed to vanish into the shadows of the nighttime jungle again. At least none of them would be alone though, and it actually makes Spencer beam a little, Sephiroth's friends doing what friends will.
He really wasn't alone.
It's silent, in the area which Sephiroth still huddles against the back of a tree. Knees drawn up to his chest within the short black cloak they'd gotten him; if not for the glint of silver fallen out from in the darkness it's likely they'd not have found him this side of daybreak. That said, it means that those soldiers can't find him either...]
/tags this because why the fuck not
He almost calls out before remembering himself, crouching low and creeping closer before calling out with a whisper.]
Seph....Sir...are you okay?
why the fuck not, indeed >.<
Sephiroth doesn't so much jump out of his skin but it's clear that the blond hero had been so careful with his approach that he'd missed what usually would be razor-sharp in terms of those boosted instincts that came along with the mako-infusion. He saw Cloud, around the edge of the large hood he'd still got drawn up over his head, but it's a moment later than it should have been.]
-Cloud?
[The grunt of a noise almost sounds as if it's not sure he's really acknowledged the right person. Perhaps he's imagining it; not a good sign.
There is a sharp, dark flash of red running down Sephiroth's cheek as he turns his head to look to the other hero; a near-missed head-shot where the bullet had ripped an angry gouge as he'd dodged just in time.]
no subject
All right, easy now. [He kneels down by Sephiroth's side, glancing up at Cloud and anyone else there.] Try to block us from view, would you? We don't want the light from my magic attracting attention.
[Healing spells have lost much of their potency since they first entered the Rift. Nevertheless, he'll do his best to tend to Sephiroth's wounds while they still have a moment of respite. On the bright side, the light emitted by Curaga is much weaker as well -- that at least decreases the risk of their position being given away.]
no subject
How bad is he? [ Sheena asks in a barely-there whisper, even as she signals to Cloud to help her do as Jade's requested. She opens her own cloak to act as a shield against prying eyes, even as she keeps her ears open for other noises.
She's been piecing together things from what she's seen and heard about Sephiroth, and while it's not exactly good, she's still going to protect her friend. ]
I didn't see or hear anything along the way here. Should we go get the others?
no subject
-quiet.
[He whispers sharply as Jade's cure magic is cast; a welcome cooling to that side of his face, and the various bruises he's taken on the way from pulling himself through the trees in the dark. As Sephiroth ushers silence there is a great rustling-
-only to then, long seconds later, manifest as a low gust of wind disturbing the silence of the leaves and shrubs at ground level. A breath exhaled and he then pushes up against the tree to get himself standing again]
-we need to leave. Now.
[Yes, he is still bleeding from one side of his head, but that can be dealt with better when they are clear of this place.]
no subject
'Maybe he's going to turn finally.'
'NO! No stop that! It's not that simple and you know it!'
He's about to comment when Sephiroth stands and calls for silence. Maybe it was just his imagination?
He doesn't argue the following point, simply nodding and sticking close to Sephiroth as he moves. Weakened as he was he still feels the need to try to protect everyone else.]
