Event || Revelations

Characters: All the Heroes of Light and their Moogles.
Where: Order's Sanctuary, The Interdimensional Rift and their Homeworlds.
When: August 03rd - August 30th

Summary: Following the battle against Palitutu, all the Heroes of Light were transported into the Interdimensional Rift. They were told by Palitutu they would have to find her to prove they can break the cycle-- But before they could reach their destination, a malevolent entity from the Rift stripped them from their immortality...

And now, they woke up in a decaying and dying world, most specifically in a place called Order's Sanctuary. From there they are ready to jump... Into their homeworlds! Feel free to use this post for the Mingle at Order's Sanctuary and should your homeworld be the stage for the Heroes of Lights' next adventures, feel free to make a thread for it and as many sub-thread as necessary! Please refer to the OOC Post for questions and plotting.

Amazing! [Ramza is wide eyed, still in awe of the workings of the strange time magic that allows them to spend a year in Crystallis in no more than a few candlemarks.]

He has missed you greatly, madame. You have never been far from his thoughts.

[Barkeep has always been a kind ~~Bar Dad~~ roommate, and Ramza wants to make sure his lady knows that he loves her truly and is a man of utmost honor and loyalty.]

[Harriet's eyes widen with the news, unsure whether to believe that he was gone for a year. Ramza's presence does make it more believable, and he addresses the young man.]

He's been livin' with you for a year? Why couldn't he come back? Don't tell me he got himself involved in your troubles, didn't he? [She glares at her husband.] What did I say about usin' the Force Galactic to alter history?

[Mordecai sighs.] Harriet, it ain't of my own choosin'. And I wasn't on Earth or Ramzas universe. We were all taken to this one planet called Crystallis which has its own problems, and those problems took away my Force Galactic, and now one of the causes of those problems is runnin' around the multiverse, causin' who knows how much trouble!

[Ramza nods in agreement.] Crystallis is fraught with troubles, and many with great power in their home worlds lose them when they arrive. I assure you that Uncle Mordecai has helped prevent much woe that would have elsewise been.

[Harriet raises her brows at "Uncle Mordecai." She mouths that name to her husband in surprised amusement, then returns to Ramza grinning.]

Really? And what did he do?

[Ramza does not notice the exchange between husband and wife.]

He led an expedition into the sewers that uncovered a secret laboratory, and he runs the Space Saloon that offers respite for the Heroes of Light, and he has learned white magic to aid in fights and keep anyone from falling in battle. I assure you that he has not needed...galactical forces to be of great benefit to our number.

L-look, it's one o' those magical fantasy lands. Magic's real there. It's like what you'd see in video games, only real.

[Crystallis is a tabletop game, he thought to himself when he woke up in Trano Golsaucia over a year ago.]

But yeah. I've been busy the past year. Or minutes in your perspective. Kinda adds more to my resume, don't it?

[Harriet closes her eyes. If this universe weren't as strange as it already was, she would have a difficult time believing such a place could exists. She's heard of stranger.]

Sounds like you've been busy. You almost done with all that questin' business? I want my husband back home sooner than later.

[It is a sad thing, to see a husband and wife being pulled away by one another for the sake of a war. Having witnessed such things in his homeworld does not make it any less terrible.]

Conscription into the Heroes of Light is not...voluntary. The conflict must soon come to some end, whether the one we want or no, but I think we must be there until it finishes.

[At least, that's the idea Ramza has gotten. Perhaps Barkeep will stay here and not return to Crystallis, though.]

[Harriet's smile falters, though the lack of disappointment in her eyes indicate that she doesn't believe her Mordecai has no voice on the matter.]

My husband's not just a business man, young man, he's also the mayor. Mordecai's a busy guy! All this world savin' is gonna stress him out so hard, he won't be able to sign anythin'!

Now Harriet--[She's getting angry, and Ramza's not the target she's looking for.]

Listen. You go get me whoever's taken you away, and we're gonna have to figure out some sort of compromise. We can send 'em guns, debuggin' consoles, anythin' with advanced tech as a replacement. Sound good?

[Well, Ramza is certainly seeing the Empress in Harriet now.]

I suppose...if the power of the Crystal brought us here...there must be some connection back to Crystallis. Perhaps we could get a message through?

[It's hopelessly optimistic, but that is Ramza's modus operandi. If there is a way to help Barkeep stay here with his wife, if that bargain can be made, he is willing to try.]

[The Barkeep shrugs.] I can try sendin' a telepathic message to the crystal. Gonna be harder since it's in another universe, but there's no sense in not tryin'.

[The proper precautions must be in place before he can use his mind powers. First, to shut out all distractions, he squeezes his eyes shut and covers his ears. Then, to down out all other thoughts, he hums quietly so that it echoes loudly in his head.

Let me stay with my wife, let me stay with my wife...

Harriet holds out a hand, ready to scold her husband for using his powers inside the power, but decides otherwise. The fabric of space had already been tampered with, and Mordecai is only fixing it.]

[Well, if they are trying anyways, Ramza may as well do his part. He sets aside his cup and plate and slides off the chair to kneel on the floor. Barkeep does as his faith dictates, and Ramza will do the same.

He prays for Barkeep to be returned to his wife and his home and made to wander no more. He is not sure that anyone listens, but it seems more useful than sitting and leaving the burden solely on Barkeep.]

[One day, Barkeep will have to sit down with Ramza and clarify that no, praying does not involved looking like an bratty kid that won't listen to his parents. Praying is supposed to look respectful in all religions, but that conversation will be later.

A minute passes, and despite their hearts going all out to be heard to, nothing happens. No crystalline light bestowing its blessing on them. Mordecai is most likely not exempt from Hero duty.]

That...definitely did not work.

~~Will that conversation be later, though, Barkeep? Because it WORKED.~~ [Ramza speaks without looking up.]

Acts of faith are called so because the results are not immediately apparent. Do not despair just yet.

[Ramza is not sure how it usually works for Barkeep, but Ramza has never know a prayer answered but with time and effort.]

Yeah, yeah, I get that, I know religion. [He sighs and waves his hand around.]

But you'd think you'd get that voice talkin' in your head.

What voice?

[Realizing that this would take hours of explanation, Harriet drops the topic.]

Actually, since we got a guest here, why don't you spend the night here? You must be exhausted from runnin' aroun' for months. Here, Ramza, was it? [She stands up and brushes her hands on the front of her pants.] I got a spare bedroom in the back where you can stay. It's about time we used it again.

[Ramza is also confused about the voices Barkeep apparently hears, but if the lady is letting it drop, he won't pursue it. Maybe prayers work differently here.]

Thank you. Rest would be nice. You have my gratitude. [This is Barkeep's home, so he is certain the accommodations will be sufficient.]

[Explaining that a mysterious voice from the void between world spoke to them as they woke up would involve describing the metaphysics of another universe. They don't have time for that when Mordecai and Harriet could be holding hands and being all romantic.

He remains seated while Harriet leaves to prepare the room. The furniture will need a bit of dusting and pajamas will have to be provided, and it's best that Ramza can go to sleep as soon as he can.

Mordecai sighs.] I ain't gonna hear the end of it once we're alone. She don't show it around guests, but she worries about me all the time.

[Ramza nods sagely.] Of course she worries. Everyone worries about the ones they love.

[Sorry, Barkeep. You'll get no sympathy from your roommate on this. That worry is a good thing, and not unmerited.]

[Oh, he sees who Ramza's favorite parent is.]

Just like I worry 'bout her. But she's the sort o' worrywart who won't stop vocalizin' their worrywartin' all day long, and I intend for her not to do so.

[There are better things reunited spouses can do. Like sleep. And drink tea together. Or go on second honeymoons.]

Does your sister do the same to you?

Yes, Alma worries for me whenever I am away doing something foolish.

[He gives Barkeep an eyebrow raise. Of course she does.]

The only cure for it is to stay by her side so she knows you are well. You should go to her.

I will, don't you worry.

[He can't believe he has to remind a young man that he still loves his wife. He wouldn't abandon Harriet, not even pretend to stab her doppelganger in a play. Mordecai pats Ramza's shoulder.]

And right Alma should worry 'bout you, goin' around and fightin'.

[He uses Ramza as leverage to push himself up and rolls his shoulders.]

Ain't no reason to stay up longer. You got a job in the mornin'. [And he has to apologize for being away for so long to his wife before bringing up the odd mentor relationship he has with Ramza. Poor guy is a political outcast, and why leave him in his universe when there are other ones he can live in?

...He swears he wasn't thinking of adopting those two.]
