"Light, ice, and water!" Chiaki calls out after watching the effects of their attacks closely. "Those are his weaknesses!"

And in order to help them exploit at least one of those weaknesses, she once again plays the Pac Man Theme, providing the Heroes +50% damage on their light elemental attacks while reducing the damage they take from Chaos' dark elemental attacks by the same amount. And with her second action, she capitalizes on that bonus by sending a Holy spell Chaos' way. She's trusting they have enough healers this time around that they'll be able to bring Tear and Akane back around.

No. No. No no no no. Eyes went wide in horror as Chaos knocked the heroes off and she saw Mary among one of them. Saori gripped the sword in her hand. A fire burned in her eyes. Hell has no wrath compared to a goddess angered.

"You bastard!" The clone ceased fire and together they cast Ice Ninjutsu and Water Ninjutsu. Chaos will taste her blade now.

Aoi watched Akane take Chaos’ hit, and the fact that she looked like someone else at the time didn’t make it any less horrific. ‘Not again.’

Duster, Nanami, Kidd, and the others go hurtling over the edge of the platform and into the void. ’Not again, not again, not again.’ The ones he wanted to protect. Why them, and not him? Why was it never him that died? There wasn’t enough anger inside of him to drown out the despair.

“Lydia, you better freakin’ survive this.” She was the only one left that really mattered, that dumb, sassy, adorable, creepy kid.

In an alternative world, in a parallel time, Akane and Duster and the others were fine. There had to be a version where they won, where they could be happy. But here, in this world, his fight was over. There was no point in living once you lose the ones you care about the most, was there?

Vanishing across the battlefield to get into position beside Chaos, Aoi ‘Santa’ Kurashiki activated his Dark Knight’s Sacrifice.

Proved their worth, indeed. While Ardyn had little to stake in comparison to the others,he had an image to maintain. As the flames erupted from all sides, he could not dodge lest he too fell off the edge.

Yet by the time he'd recovered and patted himself out for the most part, more of their number had been either crushed or sent into the abyss. Yet he could not help but catch that note of despair in the young man's voice before he charged off to his doom.

"Ah, the young... Ever so quick to assume the worst despite the dust not yet having settled." The fight was far from over, after all. Not that he would do anything to assist the falling - he couldn't even if he wanted to - but instead, he would have to rely on the skills of others once more.

Smirking faintly, and despite his injuries and bit of black liquid dripping from the left corner of his mouth, Ardyn Imitates Chiaki's Holy.

In that moment, it was as if time had stopped. Feeling the numbness spreading throughout his limbs, Ace staggered on his feet as he saw Tear's lifeless body and the slaughter that soon followed. One by one, the Heroes were disappearing into the darkness....

"Come forth." Suppressing the silent cry that was forming at the back of his throat, the cadet instead focused his entire strength into the High Summoning of Shiva and Leviathan. A flash of pain darted through him as he muttered the incantation - only now the extent of his own injuries was beginning to dawn on him - but it was nothing compared to the anger flowing through his veins; if his destiny was to be consumed by the same void, so be it. There was nothing left to lose.

"No!" Oh, this is getting bad. But it looks like everyone's wised up big time! "Alright, you ugly creep. Now you're gonna get it!"

Following everyone's lead, Sonic cast both Water Ninjutsu and Ice Ninjutsu. Maybe if he can get him weak enough, he can use his Magitek Armor to really do him in.

Selphie cursed under her breath as she darted forward, searching for her friends after so many were knocked off the platform and two were dead. Part of her wanted to scream in agony as she skid to a halt next to Yuri. She looked at her friend and nodded to him and Flynn. She placed her hands on her knees as she looked at her housemates before standing back up.

"Hang on guys," Selphie shouted before making an intricate series of motions before a green light washed over the three of them as Full Cure activated. She brandished her sword as soon as she could and fired off a Blizzaga spell at Chaos.

"Everybody, don't give up!"

"Sparks!" Of all the Heroes on the Battlefield, that man was genuinely the last person Chrom expected to see thrown off of the platform due to the heavy Magitek Armor he rode in. His hand stretched out instinctively as if it were even possible to reel him back, or any of the others who were flung into the abyss.

His head swung around to glower at Chaos, his teeth grit. "You dastard...!" He thrust his bladed arm into the air, summoning all his power to cast Shock at his enemy.

He could only hope that they could be recovered at the end of the fight. Surely they were still alive. They had to be.

Desperation kicked in automatically with the death of the two women on the battlefield, and it turned Chrom's stomach to feel it. Keeping the others safe now seemed imperative. Rather than taking a second attack, he elected to keep Sentinel active combined with his Crystal Shield. They couldn't afford to lose anyone else!

Even with Chiaki's Limit Break protecting him, the raging flaming winds threw Cloud aside and sent him rolling a short distance. As he clambered back to his feet he watched in horror as Chaos made his counter assault. He barely had time to process what happened to Tear and Akane before the others went flying from the arena. He felt a chill in his blood, and flashback to the encounter the Him from the previous cycle had. If he had White Mage maybe he could do something. All he had was Cura thanks to Paladin and-

No. Fight first. Win. Hold the line and fight back. End the fight quickly and then everyone could be safe. He had no illusions this would end as genially as the fight against Arthur and his knights had but they had tested them with their strength for this exact reason.

And the others were fighting with him. The Imperial Anthem from Johnny and Levy's call to arms still held strong in his ears. He touched the Fairy Tail mark at his shoulder and then nodded, pulling the rest of his sword off of his back. Returning the gunblade to the main mass he rain forward to attack Chaos again, his footfalls matching the pace of Chiaki's song. This time he let loose with a double Shock

Jaune’s only a few steps away from Pyrrha when he’s pushed back by the force of Chao’s blast, forced to watch in horror as Pyrrha is flung off the platform, vanishing from sight. “PYRRHA!” He runs to the edge she disappeared from and looks down, hoping to see her but seeing nothingness instead. He trembles, tears starting to fall. “No… I was supposed to have more time…”

He doesn’t have time to mourn, though; not yet. Chaos is still there, and damn it if he’s not going to do all he can to take him down now, somewhat charred body or not. He runs in, sword drawn and screaming in a blind fury and attacks with an Ice Brand. He can still feel his Deflect Limitbreak charged up inside of him for when an attack comes his way.

((ooc: Deflect: Attacks dealt to Jaune are automatically parried with the damage being dealt back to the attacker. Limit one turn.))

Tsubomi was horrified how little her initial assault had done to Chaos. That horror increased as Chaos killed Akane and Tear, then cast others into the void. "No... I won't let this stand!"

With Akane and Tear's deaths, Desperation kicked in twice, making her stronger. Her strength was boosted even more with Levy's We! Are! FAIRY TAIL! ability. This was stacked on with her own In The Red ability.

Melodies of Life did barely anything, thus Tsubomi tried something new, opting for two Shock strikes, aided by the Ultima Weapon sword and the Piracy skill

Tear...! ~~And that armored guy she saw the meeting!~~ Rukia, too, was shocked at the sudden brutal assault from Chaos, but she was still a shinigami at heart. She'd trained too extensively to falter now at the crucial moment. She needed time to recover from the dual summons, which meant she had to rely on the other skills at her disposal.

Raising her white blade, the ribbon trailing in the wake of the movement, Rukia dashed forward, making use of her Flash Step to navigate the circumference of their enormous opponent. As she flew across the smooth surface of the platform, the tip of her zanpaku'tou dragged upon the ground to inscribe a bright glowing circle.

Once the line connected, she skidded to a stop on her sandals, her robes fluttering as she turned her wrist and pointed her sword at the ground. "Some no mai, First Dance," she spoke, watching Chaos from her hooded eyes just as she slashed to the side with her sword. "Tsukishiro!"

The first ability she'd unlocked with her shikai created an extending pillar of light, capable of freezing her target within. While she doubted the shattering of the ice would shatter Chaos as well, it might still be enough to cause significant damage.

With Minato and Pasaraya’s white magic and Chiaki’s limit break, as well as the various bard songs and Barkeep’s protection, Ramza was able to make it back to his feet. He watched in horror as Heroes were stacked and flung from the precipice. His allies, his friends, the people he had sworn to protect…

There was no help for them right now. They could only press on, honoring the goal that each Hero had staked their life on. Chaos would pay.

“You cannot win! We won’t give up, not while even one Hero still stands!”

Raising up Excalibur, he struck with his Final Fantasy attack, following it through with a physical attack while he had Chiaki’s spell to protect him. If ever there was a cause for him to use Arthur’s Excalibur, it was to defeat this foe standing before them.

"Crap!"

Yuri whipped his head around to see those people being tossed into the Abyss. That was not what he was expecting but because they were up against Chaos, that was something that could have happened to begin with. He couldn't save them right now and for a moment, he was disturbed by flashbacks of the time before he left the Imperial Knights.

No. There was no time to mess around. They'd be fine. They're Heroes of Light. They will protect and conquer. Even if the stupid title still left bad taste in his mouth, he'd still do it to protect his friends. Thanks to Selphie's Limit Break, he was able to recover health. With that being said, he still had a means of healing so he's going to go ahead and throw it out as well for the ones closest to him.

"There's no time for giving up! We have to keep moving! Guardian Field!!!"

Yuri shouted loudly. A sizable glyph surrounds him, Flynn, Sephiroth and Rukia who were by far the closest to him in position, granting damage to Chaos if he was anywhere near the small circle and recovering 20% of the foursome's health.

"Front line, stay focused!" Jade could't allow the sight of his allies falling to their deaths distract him. Grief would have to wait until they were victorious.

One look at Akane's corpse told him she wouldn't be in any state to fight even if he brought her back. She might not even live for very long without treatment. The best they could do right now was to finish the battle as fast as possible and then get the girl to the hospital.

Instead, Jade elected to cast Life on Tear, one of their few remaining healers. The rest she could handle herself. They had to stay aggressive, and so he took advantage of Chiaki's song to cast another Holy.

So man emotions in play. Perhaps getting attached to others did have its drawbacks, he thought to himself.

With his health restored, Ales was able to stand again. Chaos hovered too far away for a closer range attack, but that could be fixed with time. He and his puppet raced at the giant monster, the Teensie taking advantage of the speed boost granted by the Thief Job. Thank the Onion Knight.

While closing the distance, the puppet fired a Heavy Shot at Chaos.

It all happened so fast. First Akane, then Tear and finally the dashing of various faces he knew off the platform into apparent oblivion, as if they were nothing but skittles to be knocked down. It was too much to really process happening, in the midst of the battle that Sephiroth had dashed into but in those two or three seconds afterwards, reality did threaten to slam home.

They'd just lost...he didn't even have the time to take a proper headcount, much less allow it to jar his focus now. But Akane...that was a whole new level of brutality...

Between Yuri and Jade, and a few others he heard shouting as if they were in another room, Sephiroth managed to recover his resolve and spread his stance yet again and root his concentration back on the fight at hand. They have a job to finish first and taking those few moments to observe others actions had given Sephiroth a potential change of tactic to follow.

He Dashes back into melee range and opens with Mental Break, to reduce Chaos' magic defenses further; it would help those others who were throwing spells or summoning have more of an edge on their attacks. But Sephiroth didn't stop there, a few slashes later he charged an Ice Brand into his sword before it connects.

Lydia wanted to scream, shocked and horrified---Akane! Then there's no time to react as others are pulled away, including friends! Duster, Nanami, Twilight! Still barely time to react before Ira is racing forward and she can tell he won't hear her.

It's risky, but she shapeshifts to her Bat Form, trying to locate Santa---and that IDIOT! That sarcastic, grumpy, brotherly-idiot! Flit, flit, flit--thinkthinkthink...Chiaki's helpful though!

Light, and water? She could DO that. Tiny-bat form zooming closer to Chaos, and Lydia'd have to time this perfectly. Remembering everything Yuffie and Mr. Kenshin (the first time) had taught her, as she shifts back to her human-form. Kicking out as she fell, since her Spike Shoes had Water and Light-elemental crystals infused in them. Staying human just enough, as she saw balls of light head towards Chaos, before it's back to Bat-Form and flitting as fast as she can for some distance again.

Natalia had to fight down the rising ball of misery and panic at seeing Tear struck down so viciously. Keep it together, she reminded herself. She couldn't cast Life, but Jade could, and she shot a nervous look at her companion to reassure herself that's what he was doing. To her vast relief, her faith was not misplaced. It must have been difficult for him, given that he was far more accustomed to using Artes that pulverized an enemy, rather than accessing those Seventh Fonon Healing Artes he could never master.

"I'll take care of the rest!" she shouted out above the din of battle. Waiting for Tear's chest to rise and fall with breath, Natalia then immediately sent a wave of healing magic to the songstress. "Curaga!" she shouted.

That left her able to cast one more spell. Logically, it would be wisest to cast Holy as well. Emotionally, though...

Asch was still out there on the battlefield, even if she couldn't see him from her current position. And as far as she knew, he'd probably been hit hard by that first attack. She had to make sure he was okay. Picking up her bow and nocking an arrow just in case, she ran across the platform until she caught a glimpse of his familiar scarlet hair and sent a second Curaga at him too.

From the onset, Asch knew he was at a disadvantage. He'd only been around for a couple months, barely managing to obtain any particularly helpful skills at all. But this was a battle he couldn't help joining, and he wanted to do his part even if he'd barely manage to even scratch the surface. Time and again, he'd charge but wind up completely flattened. Then, by some miraculous virtue, he'd be revived by others' techniques.

So he'd continue to get up and face the enemy once again, no matter how difficult the struggle. Even if Chaos repeatedly sweeps the floor with him, Asch is going to keep trying.

This time, having been pushed well beyond his limits yet healed of previous injuries, he uses his Limit Break, Rending Saber. He'll be lucky if it does anything more than the useless nonexistent damage, but it's better than not trying at all.

With people dying and disappearing around him, Johnny can't stand by and play guitar any longer. Sorry to everyone who needed that buff, but he needs to get in to this battle with his fists, not his music. He quickly whips out a flask for some Rum Diet, to heal up a bit before jumping into the fray.

Equipped with his Dragoon's lance as opposed to the regular Pirate guns, Johnny charges forth with a mighty roar with an Amped Strike on Chaos.

There were some emotions that Lust had never truly felt before coming to this world. Watching Mikleo be effortlessly swept over the edge into the abyss awakened a pain that Lust didn't know she could feel. As a homunculus her body had been shot, stabbed, mutilated, and immolated among other things. She knew what pain was. She'd grown accustomed to it.

But this sharp ache that felt like a hole had been torn open in her chest and spliced down to her stomach was completely different. For the first time in her life, she experienced the bitter taste of loss.

The gentle boy who so stubbornly clung to his belief in her humanity was gone, and could not be retrieved.

Her eyes were wide for only a moment before she turned, and her gaze fell upon Mikleo's destroyer. Her despair became something black and ugly, bubbling up inside of her. Disdain was nothing new to her, and neither was resentment. They'd been perpetual companions of hers for many years. This was a sheer hatred, and it burned with the overwhelming desire to see this creature utterly annihilated. She would not suffer it to live, no matter what the others said, for there could never be any forgiveness from her.

Lust lifted a slim arm, motes of power gathering to her fingertips and chasing over the gleaming curves of her ebony armor. A ghostly and ethereal glow lit up the features of her face, deepening the shadows as her eyes narrowed.

Without a word, she released her Focus from before, channeling all of her might into the devastating Ultima spell. And if she could blast him twice, she would without hesitation.

He needed to die writhing in agony.

"Mary!" Reno shouted as she was thrown past him into the abyss. "Duster!"

They were gone. All of those Heroes, in an instant, gone.

"NO!" They couldn't afford to let that happen again. They couldn't afford to lose those people as it was, but they couldn't lose any more. Where was Johnny? It was hard to find him without Eagle Vision, but the dragoon's lance caught his eye. Still here. Okay.

As long as Johnny was still safe, Reno's attention returned to Chaos. This thing had to go. Reno steadied himself and concentrated, focusing a great deal of energy to cast Turk Light Redux against Chaos. It left him a little winded, but with the help of his Weapons Training, he was able to use his thunder materia to follow up with a Thundara.

It was getting hard to breathe. Time seemed to have frozen in the seconds Tear was killed and Duster disappeared, fate uncertain. Tear had thankfully been immediately tended to by her companions from home, leaving what was left of Akane to his care. It didn't look promising. But he had to try. What kind of person would he be if he didn't?

Minato casts Life on Akane--attempting more than once, if he must.

"Protect us... this is my humble request. Of what hope we have left, what blood we've each shed, may it not be in vain!" Summoning for the first time in the battle, he summons Titan.

MIKLEO! Lailah screamed, possibly giving Chrom a headache. The shock was so intense, she almost undid the Armatus she shared with Chrom, but managed to collect herself before forcing a glare at Chaos. No... I cannot give into the malevolence! Even if it didn't have the same effect here in Crystallis, Lailah couldn't let herself be overtaken by those negative feelings - if for nothing else, it was for Mikleo. He was her first Sub-Lord on her journey with Shepherd Sorey, and though inexperienced, he proved his worth time and time again. More than that, he was a friend to all, and truly believed in a world where human and seraphim could coexist. This would be for him! The fire insight of her that could not be extinguished blazed once again for her fallen comrade, pumping even more of her righteous fury through Chrom's veins. Sir Chrom, I apologize, but we cannot fall here!
