Who was to say he wouldn't have still managed to glance over and see Gaara?

In any case, his expression turned incredibly sheepish at those stern words. Awkwardly, he glanced to the side and scratched the side of his head. Then, he offered the ninja a reassuring smile, "I'm fine...right now. I'm taking a break now, right? I promise not to do anything too reckless... If it gets to be too much, I'll let you know. Sound fair?"

To Guy's question, he started to open his mouth - the other redhead responded next, however. A very faint blush appeared at those words. It was nothing more than the awkwardness of having that kind of thing simply put out there. It gave an indication of just how much he talked about everyone from home. Which was...a lot. Then, he cleared his throat and spoke up, "This is Gaara."

Which should have told Guy quite a bit, all in one go; that he was the person Luke had met back in Saeng Seong. The ninja was the one who'd given him that throwing knife, when he'd arrived in that place completely unarmed. He'd helped him through countless nightmares...and, more importantly, was the only person to directly follow him into a new world. Towards the end, he also went on to explain that he'd been the one to ask Gaara to be his boyfriend not very long after arriving in Crystallis.

The replica had gone on for quite some time, telling Guy all of those things- it was the first time he'd ever been able to tell anyone about it, though. Guy was his best friend, too, so he felt more comfortable telling him those things than anyone else.

"...Gaara?"

Those words and that expression had given Guy more than enough information to know how to properly manage these interactions.

Sheathing his blade, he crossed the distance between the two of them and held out a gloved hand in greeting.

"Luke has likewise spoken highly of you," he said in his usual friendly tones. "Travelling between worlds like that must have been quite the adventure. It had to have been more than just luck that kept the two of you together though it all."

Because Gaara is a ninja, you silly civilian. Or noble, whatever.

"Hmph..." he grunted in response, still feeling concerned about his reckless boyfriend. It hadn't been that long since they were released from crystal status, and Luke was already throwing himself into arduous situations. He was probably trying hard to distract himself, given what they had discussed most recently. "I will hold you to that claim."

Shaking hands was a more universal form of greeting, and fortunately, Gaara was familiar with it. He had actually been wondering which gesture he should use for Guy, in light of who he was, and his level of importance to Luke. Fingers still intertwined with the other redhead, he stepped forward and offered his free hand to Guy, shaking it firmly.

"It was an unexpected challenge," he admitted in a somewhat dry tone, "but Luke has dealt with each situation admirably." A brief pause, and then, "Perhaps our hearts remained connected, throughout the travels."

He casually moved on, clearly not understanding the significance of what he just said. "How are you adjusting to this world?"

His smile was soft at the mention that Gaara would hold him to that. His hand gently tightened on the other redhead's, "I wouldn't expect anything different."

As for Guy's words, Luke could only glance to the side, finger reaching to scratch at the side of his face. The hint of color on his face darkened the more Gaara talked, though. It was after hearing the part about their hearts, however, Luke wished he wore something with a hood...so he could slowly pull it down over his face.

Though, on the same note, he wasn't surprised...which might have been obvious. Awkwardly shifting in his stance, the building over yonder seemed to be the most interesting thing in all of Crystallis. Honestly, Luke might have matured since his travels, but nothing could have prepared him to have his best friend and boyfriend meeting after that much time.

Smooth, Gaara. Though the tone was no different than someone talking about the weather, the commentary about hearts would have been enough to send a few girls swooning-- it was enough to earn an amused chuckle from Guy.

"Well enough, I suppose," he replied, glancing over at the building as well. "This is my first time out of the city...Guess we just had some bad timing for a scavenger hunt."

He grinned. "Jobs and crystals aside, it's not that different from home."

Had that happened, Gaara would draw the assumption that they fell ill, somehow. He usually spoke in earnest, and found out after the fact, that there was something he shouldn't have said. By Guy's reaction, it didn't seem like he had done wrong. And if he saw Luke blushing, well. It wasn't exactly an uncommon sight, by this point.

Though... what in the world was Luke's fascination with that building? Gaara followed their shift in gazes, frowning with confusion when he realized it looked normal. Maybe it was some kind of secret amusement shared between best friends, that he couldn't comprehend.

"The missions are a common occurrence," he informed Guy helpfully, though most likely, Luke had already told him the same. "Though, losing access to your natural abilities is a difficult adjustment."

More like a serious pain, and an unnecessary inconvenience. The Job Classes had their own unique abilities, but the need for armor, and only being able to equip certain weapons... How restricting.

Gaara nodded with understanding. "You and your comrades saved the world, correct? Essentially, that is what they desire from the foreigners, in this realm."

Luke would totally disagree that the blushing was a...common sight. Gaara didn't make him blush that often, okay (only, deep down, he would know it was...kind of true). Also, he didn't even see the ninja looking over to the building. Otherwise, he might offer a somewhat apologetic look for the confusion.

"Yeah...it really is a difficult adjustment. I was fortunate to get a Job Class that let me use something I was already familiar with, but...It was still strange to get used to. Still..." He nodded to Guy, "You're right that it's a lot like back home. I remember thinking the same thing, at one point."

There was a brief moment, after Gaara asked that last question, that Luke's hand tensed within his boyfriend's. Guy was...from a different time period, but he hadn't had a chance to explain that to the ninja. While keeping his grip firm, he attempted to play it off, "Heh...well, we were certainly...trying to, anyway..."

He really hoped Gaara would get the message...
