Rescuing the Civilians - Zelda

Zelda watched as Link bounded in front of her attackers. It was true that he was more skilled than she was and after everything that they’ve been through she trusted him with her life. She watched for a moment in awe of her knight, her hero, as he fought with her existence unmistakably in his heart. She was happy even in the middle of battle, even as the world was posed against them because they had each other and each moment created memories that she wanted to cherish.

She glanced around them just in time to see more monsters circling behind them. She raised her blade to protect Link’s back bringing down the sword in a graceful arc. She lightly pressed her shoulder against his back as she spoke. “I am behind you. We won’t fail because we are together.” They could fight together and be there for each other.

It was just like she dreamed of supporting each other in each endeavor; so that they didn’t have to part again. She felt her fatigue fade and she wished that she could speak her mind as easily as he could in the middle of such a fight. Having him in her heart made her stronger. Sweat beaded from her forehead and her breaths became heavy with each slash of her sword.

His back kisses her own for but a moment, before the warmth of her compassion sends him charging once more into the danger of the fray. Every swish of his blade spills another wasted wound of blood, his lips cringing as he knows the value of life. The Empire had ignored it, they'd gone against what made men decent and insisted upon a slaughter. If lives needed to be sacrificed in order to slake the greed of men so drunk on power, then Link would pledge himself a million times over until his spirit was the only thing left of him.

The corner of his eye keeps a close watch on his partner, faith holding on as he knows she's more than capable of handling her side of the fight. Fresh scars sting his cheeks, the slight brush of steel giving his features the warmth of his blood as it trickles down to his chin.
