[ When the lockdown finally comes to an end, the facility looks like a much more welcoming building: sunlight makes the place a lot less dark, the lack of killer mechs makes wandering the corridor safer and Jenni being gone means there are no longer any illusion spells everywhere meant to confuse characters and make things extra creepy.

The Control Room on the last floor can be accessed as well. Biggs, Wedge, Jessie and Artemicion can all be found there. Wedge is sitting on a chair and looks quite exhausted, Biggs is still standing but was apparently wounded in battle whereas Jessie has her back turned to them and is typing on some sort of computer, crystals protecting holographic screens on which she is currently working. The computer looks very futuristic, a stark contrast with everything else around. And Artemicion, well he looks just fine.

Feel free to use this thread to explore area of the facility other groups explored, speak among group members or different groups after things were resolved, or to question the NPCs. Please reply here only if your group finished both the Exploration and Boss Battle threads. ]

[Most of the D-Team isn't fairing so well after their fight with Deweg, but they throw open the door anyway, not sure what to expect on the other side in the control room.

The marshal is one of the ones in the party who looks like he'd been hit by a truck. Spotting Jessie, Biggs and Wedge, Sparks shoots them all a cold look, and is about to say something when he notices the computers. That's the first time he's seen anything like that here - he didn't think this planet had them. He gawks at it for a moment before shaking it off.]

So here's where yer hidin'. We need to get out of this place right now, but y'all got a lot of explaining to do about this.

[A pause, and then he points to the computers.]

Like that, for example.

[ The cold look is reciprocated by Biggs. Wedge looks too tired to really care. Jessie turns around when Sparks come in and opens the door. None of them looked in a hurry to leave, most likely that the danger was now gone. ]

Thank you for your assistance. [A pause before replying to his question.] Magitek.

[ Another pause as she realizes it may not exactly answer his question. ]

Ancient technology we have excavated and revived using crystals years ago. We are not entirely sure how they work yet and we cannot use them to their full potential, but they've been very helpful for our researches.

[Yuffie walks in like nothing bad has happened. She is a little banged up and has a few cuts and scratches but it is nothing to cry over.]

Oh! Hey! You guys are okay! What was up with those three people anyway?

[Her eyes focus on Jessie a moment.]

One even made themselves look like you.

[ She turned to Yuffie. ]

I think they had new Jobs. I had heard the Empire had been was working on creating new Jobs but I didn't think they would succeed, let alone implant them within active agents.

Wait...

[Yuffie stops and stares.]

So they were like spies or something?

I believe so. They were after special crystals stored here. Another group helped as one of them came here to question me.

Do you guys have any idea what's going on out there? We walked into one room that had replicas of our heads in them. And then a room full of wax figures that looked like people from my planet. And those spies? We fought one of 'em, the eyepatch guy, and he--

[Sparks doesn't have the energy to be as irritated as he'd like. His shoulders fall as he lets out a slow breath.]

We lost someone in that fight, y'know.

Wax figures?

[ But then she paused as he mentioned someone died during the battle. ]

... We are sorry for your loss.

[ He sounds genuinely sorry. Even Biggs has stopped his cold stare. Well, a bit less cold anyway. ]

[Yuffie is trying to push the thought of Clouds death from her mind. He really had been their hero when they needed it.]

So you know nothing?

The spies were after four black crystals we kept in the facility. Very dangerous crystals, they're part of why this facility was closed. They got at least two of them, they asked me where the last two were. Another group stopped them before they could get answers out of me. I don't know if they got the remaining two.

Sorry...for our loss?

[Ashelia looks just awful. Her face is all bloody from the back of her head being rammed into the wall. She clutches her midsection with one arm, breathes shallow - possibly a broken rib? Both her lower legs are also covered in blood, though the bullet wounds have been healed.]

Corporal Strife gave his life trying to find and protect you, a young life cut down in a world not his own, for a cause not his own. You will tell us what these black crystals are, how the Empire managed to infiltrate so far into your defenses, why such dangerous crystals were simply abandoned in an old facility, who this Kalki is and what you plan to do now that the Empire has effectively declared war!

I'm sorry, I--

[ But Wedge is interrupted as Biggs starts speaking. ]

Soldiers under my commands have died before, but their death have never entitled me to give orders around and act as if I were the center world. We shall grieve, but his death does not entitle you to give us orders. [He looks at Wedge.] Very heroic behavior indeed.

[ Wedge just facepalms when Biggs is done speaking. ]

That boy was not a soldier! [Ashelia coughs, wincing at the pain in her ribs. Yelling at Biggs is clearly taking a toll on her.] Have you no shame? We saved you - civilians saved you, and more than one of them died trying to do it. You owe us answers.

[She looked at Wedge, a questioning look on her face. Most of her fire was gone already.] Wedge? I know you at least feign to possess a conscience.

[ He motioned to both Ashelia and Biggs for them to calm down, Biggs just shook his head annoyingly. Wedge then took a pause. ]

I don't know why the crystals were kept here. Guess we couldn't store them anywhere else. I don't know what they did exactly either, you'd need to ask Dr. Cid for that, and he's most likely prisoner of the empire. This being said, as the former director of this facility, it is not impossible to imagine they got from him the intel on how to infiltrate this place. He's the only person aside from Jessie who would have known how to do it.

[Midway through their conversation Henry finally manages to wander in with the rest of his party.]

Someone say prisoner? Sounds like a rescue mission! When do we start?

We don't even know where they're keeping him.

[Yuffie tilts her head to the side.]

It doesn't mean you can't try, just be sneaky.

[Part of her wants to help but she doesn't want more people to die. Cloud had been from her home world and now he's never go back.]

Let's simply say that operations in imperial territories generally end up being one-way trips. We've already lost too many people to them.

Why are we-- Okay, let's just... table that idea for a minute. This place needs to be shut down or whatever immediately. Is there an AI or intercom or something? We ain't the only team here, y'know, practically all the Heroes are runnin' around this place. They need to know about those other two spies, if'n they ain't run into 'em already.

And then after that, yer gonna tell me who Kalki is, and why we found our fake heads in a box when we showed up here.

One other group has fought one of the intruders. Wedge told me a group he met fought another one. if like you they won, with the security system deactivated this place should be safe. Moogles are going to search every room soon and we should receive reinforcement from Esdham by tonight.

As for fake heads, I have no idea what you are talking about?

Kalki you say? [A pause.] That's a name that sounds familiar. Pretty sure I heard it before.
