[Link has heard such noises before, the sort of grinding on metal that comes from traversing through a factory of robots and treadmills. Looking to the other three, he draws his sword and stands with his back to the group.]

I'm not sure if anyone had any plans here but.. I think it's safe to say we'll be fighting most of our way through here.

[Ib glances around nervously. It looks like everyone was split up on purpose. What happened to all the others? She really hopes they're okay.]

I- I think we'd better hurry. If we just stay here we'll get caught.

Of course we'll be fighting our way through. [ suffice to say, Genesis is not in a very good mood. he had told Talitha that going to save someone in a run down building would probably turn out a trap, but did she listen? at least he managed to worm a few pieces of his gear from home from her - including the rather distinctive red Rapier. his sunburn was also slowly turning into freckles, another indignity that this realm was bestowing on him.

at least now he knew that he was able to do more than hit something with a book, though he was still annoyed that he couldn't infuse his blade with magic. ]

I think we shall need those of us that can fight in the front and in the back, those of us that heal in the center, and the rest to keep close by... Or do we have other suggestions to the order of march?

[Baralai can't panic in this situation. Without a means of defending himself other than with his wits and what he's learning along the way, he looks at the group before he nods once in finality.]

Right. I'm with the man in the red coat on this one. I'll hang back and watch for signs.

[The Scholar steps back to do just that and finds a place where he figures he's the safest. Lora flies off to act as his eyes and ears in the meantime while Baralai searches his book.]

Give me a moment while I research.

[Link steadies the sword in front of him, taking a few steps deeper into the corridor while he looks from side to side.]

I don't mind taking the front, especially if it means keeping other people from harm. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss my shield..

[He turns about for a moment, nodding to Genesis, Ib, and Baralai while keeping at the ready.] I'll shout if I see anything from this side.

[Ib is a Red Mage, so she isn't sure whether she counts as a fighter or healer. For now, she just follows behind Link. After a few seconds, she speaks up.]

There's a couple of doors in the hallway. Do you think we should check them?

[Her question was for the group in general, but was mostly directed at Genesis since he seems to be taking charge.]

Beats staying here. These things got Jessie, right? Probably safe to say that whatever got her is still in here somewhere.

[Snow steps up to the front with Link, already eyeing his options as to where to start first. As a Monk, he's not as sturdy as he's used to being, but his natural hardiness and stamina is still a force to be reckoned with. He'll take a few hits.]

We'll do it together. No shields needed.

Let the Scholar check the facts that they may have on hand first, and then we'll march.

[ it's been years since he had led a group that did not just obey whatever thought he had on his mind. his clones were simple things, easy to dictate to and it takes him a moment to get his thoughts in order. he too was a Red Mage, though he had been defaulting to Scholar out of the sheer stubbornness of being stubborn. but today he was going to spar, so he had been geared up as such. how lucky that there were two that could cast light heals in the party. ]

I wish that we had snagged a Thief; they could at least check for traps far easier than us. Scholar, when you are ready, we shall start.

[Baralai nods in response and even though he can fight, in this case investigating works better for this kind of work. He certainly agrees that having a Thief would have worked out for unlocking doors, but who's to say that all Scholars had to be honest?

He began his search through opening the doors first, or in this case, trying them to see if they were unlocked as per Ib's direction about the doors. Instead of opening them right away, he checked his book for any maps of the facility.]

We came in through some portal that was meant as a deterrent. Unfortunately, it seemed to have malfunctioned. If, for some reason that any of these doors are rigged the same as what's outside, then we might have a problem on our hands.

[Similar devices are used in Bevelle and even then they weren't used often because of the dangers it presented. The graceless landing certainly proved that and he's going to bruise. His heavy coat broke most of the fall, but it's no less jarring.]

Lora, I need you to see if you can teleport to the other side of the door to make certain we're not stepping into a trap. Once it's clear, unlock the door.

[His moogle cants her head to the side.]

But what if there's a monster, kupo?

[Baralai shrugs.]

Fly around and make sure you don't get caught.

[Her shoulders droop but she complies.]

You're a real help, kupo.

[With that, she disappears while he waits for a response.]
