Summary: A letter from Artemicion calls the Heroes of Light for help! Little do they know that they will inadventenly become trapped in the Magitek Facility. The OOC Post for detailed explanations can be found here.

"Yep. 'M fine." Maybe slightly weirded out by the message this scene was sending, though. Was this some sort of heavy-handed sign that he was going to kill his friends or something? Talk about going to unnecessarily long lengths. Couldn't this Kalki just sent a letter or something? "Y'know, all this is awfully convenient. How we all of us in particular got teleported together into a room that just happened to have a box with our heads in it. And now this."

Sparks would think on it later. For now, they're still in the middle of this compound with no sign of the people they're looking for, and in theory, several other rooms like this to deal with. The marshal lets out a quick, steadying huff, cracks his neck, and throws open the next door.

[ The now opened door leads to a corridor-- Empty that leads to an intersection. All the windows in this corridor are closed and no lights are on; yet they can see as if there was a dim source of light somewhere. There is something off about that corridor, something that feels unreal. It may also feel as though there is someone watching them behind their back; though they will never see anyone if they turn around to look.

By the intersection, there are directions written on the wall: ]

[ The robotic noises seem to originate from the path leading to the Entrance. The path leading the second floor leads to a staircase. ]

Yuffie read the sign carefully with one hand resting on her hip. "That was item storage! There was nothing valuable there!" Her hope to find treasure was slowly dying.

She turned towards the others. "And if they brought us in here why tell us where the entrance is?"

Cloud weighed the groups options, looking in each direction while running a few maps through his memory. This place wasn't like a Mako reactor or any other ShinRa facility, but the principles should be the same. Right?

"If there's a hostage situation it depends on how many people are involved. If there were a lot of people here, they might have moved them to the second floor to gather them all together. The offices wouldn't have enough open area to keep a watch on everyone...probably." He frowned as he looks up the stairs, "But there's a decent chance that the offices may have keys or a map or something we can use to get the drop on them."

He didn't feel like he needed to bring up the entrance. The robots were after them, that was clear enough. If they went in that direction they'd probably get bogged down in a fight.

Ashelia nodded slowly as she listened to Cloud's reasoning. There's the corporal. Cloud had been able to hold his own in battle thus far, but this proved to Ashelia more than anything else that he was what he claimed to be: military trained.

"The Corporal's reasoning is sound. I, however, would like to point out the importance of securing an escape route." She gestured toward the entrance. If they were back in Ivalice, she would propose splitting up, but it had been demonstrated to her time and time again that she didn't wield the awesome power she had in her own world anymore. "Battling the robots will be difficult if we are protecting non-combatants at the same time."

Sparks thought over each side for a moment. Both made sense, but they needed to stick together and pick one.

"But the longer we go without pickin' up Wedge, Jessie 'n Biggs, the longer they got to get in more trouble. Reckon there's probably other exits, too, if we go lookin'. So, uh, I say the offices, see what we find along the way."

"So where we going then? Up, right, left, down?" She walked over closer to the group.

"Lets just pick a way to go. Were just wasting time standing here."

[holycrows]

"As someone who has been involved in a few hostage situations, anything we encounter is just there to tire us out for the inevitable trap when we find them. Better to get to the real fight faster!"

Henry walks over to look in the direction of the stairs.

"It's not as if you ever take your real target hostage anyway. That'd be stupid."

Sorry folks, but the last person in this little entourage that Sparks Nevada is going to listen to is Henry. And before Henry can even finish his statement, the marshal is making his way off down the hall, leading the party towards the offices.

"Anyway, time's a-wastin' just standin' around like that, so here we go. Offices it is."

[ The path leading to the offices is quite quiet; but as they reach the door they can hear footsteps behind it. No mechanicals noise, just the footsteps a normal human being would do.

The door is unlocked. ]

[The group quickly and quietly comes to the decision to go in, but in formation first, as instructed by Ashelia - Sparks up front, Yuffie and Henry in the middle, Ashelia and Cloud in the back. Who knows who it was in there, so better be prepared just in case. Once ready, Sparks throws the door open.]

[ When the door opens, they can see many more doors behind it, office doors. There is also someone roaming in the same; she about the same height as a child, but if anyone saw her before it quickly becomes obvious it is Jessie.

And she looks furious upon seeing them as the door opens. She wastes no time making it known. ]

What are you doing here?!

[Yuffie peeks around Sparks curiously.]

Looking for you, duh.

[She is still a little annoyed from the lack of treasure and abundance of heads.]

Nobody's asked you to come looking for me! [A pause.] The facility is in security mode, you are in great danger.

[holycrows]

"Hey! You aren't a hostage! Or dead! Thats good."

Henry thinks for a moment.

"Didnt you send your moogle to go get everyone?"

[melodiesnpcs]

What I did doesn't matter. I need to deactivate the system before one of you be killed.

[ She waves to the offices. ]

Stay in there while I go to the control room.

[red_planet_blues]

"Stay here"? What-- No. We came here to get you out. Artema-whatever the moogle sent us in after you, Biggs and Wedge, sayin' "weird people" [Have some finger quotes with that] broke in and took down all the guards. We're here, so we might as well do somethin' about all this.

[Sparks will stand in the way of the door, for now.]

The security units will not attack me. They will attack and kill you.

[ She pauses, as if trying to calm herself down before walking to the door and looking up at Sparks. She doesn't say anything. Her meaning is probably obvious enough. ]

"Let her through, Marshal." As angry as Ashelia was with the tarutaru - and she was livid - Jessie was the only one with any kind of clue as to what was going on in the facility, probably more so than Biggs and Wedge. "There seems to have been some miscommunication about the situation here at the facility, but Jessie is right; the security system must be deactivated. We have no encountered these security units ourselves, but we are just a few of the many Heroes that answered Artemicion's call for help. If Jessie turning off this system will aid in their finding and evacuating Biggs and Wedge, we should help her do so."

The queen took a step forward, one hand on her hip. "And help you I mean to do. We shall accompany you to the control room, and afterwards you will tell us all you know of this Kalki and what exactly this mumer's farce is about." She held up the wax replica of her head, its red eyes baring down on the small scientist. "I believe you owe us at least that much."

You heard her, let me through.

[ Her stare at Sparks grew more insistent and annoyed. ]

No, you will not come with me. Stop acting as if you could be any help. [ She looked at the wax replica and rose an eyebrow. ] I have no idea what this is nor have I ever heard of Lady Kalki. If I can go now, thank you.

[desertbloomed]

"Hold fast, if you would, Marshal." Ashelia tucked the wax head away and drew her sword again. Just because they couldn't hear the robots anymore, didn't mean the intruders weren't nearby.

"Mark my words closely, you wretched little creature; you will show us to the control room, you will deactivate the security system and you will give us an explanation." She tightened her grip on her sword. "Men and women dragged to this world against their will have laid their lives on the line to save you from the clutches of some powerful intruder with powers apparently completely beyond even your own ken. They could be fighting and dying as we speak, and you seek to brush us aside like so many bothersome flies?"

The queen shook her head. "You have not given us many reasons to trust you, Jessie, and yet we have, through necessity. That ends now. You will prove to us you are worthy of our trust, and you will do so by telling us all you know of your good friend the Lady Kalki once you have deactivated the security system. Are we clear?"

[melodiesnpcs]

[ Jessie looked infuriated at the way Ashe addressed her and annoyed at the Lady Kalki part. But she turned at her without hesitating. ]

You dare giving me orders?

[ She appeared to be about to do something with her hands, when a voice erupted from the one office whose door was open. They couldn't see who the voice belonged to, but that was quite clearly a man: ]

That's far enough!

[ When she heard that, Jessie suddenly jumped back away from the five Heroes, cursing under her breath, something along the lines of 'I nearly had them'. ]

Cloud had kept quiet during all of this, but he was watching it unfold. Something was wrong here. He couldn't put his finger on it. Maybe it was the fact that he was using magic now and had to take a different view of the battlefield than he did as a soldier.

He no longer could depend on force and armor to protect him. He had to watch for threats so that they didn't get to him first. His eyes caught what she was doing with her hands but he didn't have a chance to figure out what it was. With the new voice he raised his staff. This place was too narrow and they'd have to move quickly if it came to a fight.

[ A man finally walks out of the office-- He's missing an eye and stops by "Jessie," looking at the Heroes of Light one after the others, calmly. ]

Worst performance ever. I've seen better school plays.

[ Something akin to a localized smoke bomb detonates right next to "Jessie", though both she and the man seem unaffected by the smoke. A second man appears within the smoke, looking both bemused and exasperated at the situation. ]
