Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.
At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:
"Wake up."
Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.
Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.
The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.
If asked, the Moogles will mention that the city was recently attacked by the Heran Empire and nearly destroyed by Ultima Weapon. What's the Heran Empire? What's Ultima Weapon? Better to ask to the heroes who saw it all.
The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they fiercely battled each other past month. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.
If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.
The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With the recent attack, Aqures Ixen is under reconstruction. The city was saved for the most part, but there are ruined buildings, the Sixth District is nothing but wasteland now and the Thirteenth District has become a graveyard. Even so, there are a lot of things left to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, mostly Moogles as many of them are not working after what happened. And of course, they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!
Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them panicked, tired, busy or slacking now that their director has disappeared. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline-- Though they have to make a request 48 hours in before to do so.
Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
— 19:00 —
Characters venturing by the city's outskirts at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a cow before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.
Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Only the future will tell...

"I have to apologize, I don't remember you." This statement was sad and the First Class shook his head. And as ridiculous as the next question sounded to his own ears, Angeal had to ask it. "How...long was I here before I..fell asleep?" And this had him looking back at Zack in particular, but then at both forms of Genesis.
Confused and disorientated didn't even begin to cover it.

“A few months, you had been living with Sephiroth and I remember these food baskets you made everyone so that they’d stay healthy. You woke up with the first wave of heroes, with me and a few others who are still around. That was in August. It was after Christmas that you turned to crystal.”
She smiled at the memory. Angeal had been there before she had established the guild, when she was preparing food for a get together party and using her home as the bases of operations. She had enjoyed cooking with him, plus he could reach shelves that the short Hylian would have needed a stool for.
“Ah! I still have your Christmas present. When you disappeared it had stayed. I don’t know if you’d want it back.”
no subject
But then that one name caught Angeal's attention as nothing else she could've said. "Wait..you know a man named Sephiroth? And I was living with him? Is he still here?" This was the best thing that he'd heard. His mind recorded the rest of what she said about a time frame and Angeal took some steps towards her, not knowing if he should even dare to hope that a familiar face was here. It was only after he was inches away from Zelda that he realized things might..not be on such friendly terms as far as Sephiroth went.
He still had no recollection of anything that she said though about food baskets or living with Sephiroth, but here he was, still trying to remember it. And as he was standing there debating on what to do about his friend, Zelda commented about a christmas gift. So this left him in a moral quandry and gave him something else to ponder.
"If it was a gift given in friendship, and I have no memory of you, then you can give it to me later if we become friends again. So just hold onto it for now." It made sense in his mind as he still fought to remember anything of what Zelda was saying.
no subject
Her cheeks tinted a light pink feeling a little silly for bringing up the Christmas gift. Of course, his words made sense and they were very much like the Angeal that she remembered. “I will do that then.” She smiled softly. “Is there anything else I can help you with?”
no subject
But then Angeal shook his head. "No, you've helped more than enough." He couldn't rightly take advantage of her kindness, he was on his own in this.
"Thank you."
no subject
It was a weird sentiment, meeting someone for the first time again but Zelda was always determined. She knew they'd be friends because Angeal was Angeal, no matter what he remembers and she can sense his kind heart.
"Would you like me to show you out? There are a few turns to the exit."
no subject
His head shook slightly before he replied. "I'd like that chance, but I can't accept your offer unless it can be returned." It was just the honourable way of doing things, a gift for a gift really. If she needed anything, then he should be just as willing to help her if he could, and that was the way Angeal would see it done.
And he nodded at her last part. "I'm sure I could find my way, but that one I'll take you up on."
no subject
With that being settled, because Zelda was stubborn and she wasn't going to take no for an answer, she gestured towards the door.
The hallway was as you'd expect a hospital, clean and smelling of bleach. Zelda moved ahead, her short legs taking up a brisk pace so that Angeal could walk normally.
no subject
But he followed her and looked all around, mako eyes missing nothing. Angeal had no idea what to expect, and since this was a foreign place to him at least he was on guard. And heavens help the person who harmed Zelda though she couldn't know.
no subject
It only took a few minutes for them to find their way outside, as she stepped into the bright heat of the sun her hair shined slightly and her dark dress didn't seem as dreary.
"We made it."
no subject
Outside seemed pretty bright, in contrast to the darker hospital and he nodded at Zelda.
"Thank you for your help."
He had no idea which direction to go, but he was determined to make it. And the former First Class patiently waited for her to go because all of this was his problem now. She'd been more than kind to help him this far and he wasn't about to even try to take advantage of that kindness.
no subject
"There was recently a war here so things are still being rebuilt. Try and get used to things, I'm sure it's difficult. I have notes about what we know at the observatory. I need to update them but they are there if you'd like to have a look."
Zelda flashed a wide smile before walking down the hospital steps. She was going to head back to the observatory to work.
no subject
Angeal wasn't fooled, he realized that Zelda was inviting him to go with her and for some reason that made him both happy and nervous at the same time. With a nod, he replied to her.
"I appreciate that, but I should go and find out where home is. So if you need anything, let me know and I'll be there."
no subject
She turned back towards her destination and headed off.
no subject
After awhile Angeal turned and headed in his own direction, head spinning with even more thoughts and confusion.
