Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.
At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:
"Wake up."
Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.
Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.
The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.
If asked, the Moogles will mention that the city was recently attacked by the Heran Empire and nearly destroyed by Ultima Weapon. What's the Heran Empire? What's Ultima Weapon? Better to ask to the heroes who saw it all.
The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they fiercely battled each other past month. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.
If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.
The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With the recent attack, Aqures Ixen is under reconstruction. The city was saved for the most part, but there are ruined buildings, the Sixth District is nothing but wasteland now and the Thirteenth District has become a graveyard. Even so, there are a lot of things left to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, mostly Moogles as many of them are not working after what happened. And of course, they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!
Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them panicked, tired, busy or slacking now that their director has disappeared. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline-- Though they have to make a request 48 hours in before to do so.
Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
— 19:00 —
Characters venturing by the city's outskirts at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a cow before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.
Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Only the future will tell...

Raven ponder for a few moments before folding his arms behind his head and pivoting toward the other. He wasn't expecting to see Yuri here, and if they considered him a hero, well, no wonder they were still in trouble.
"I take it you've been here for awhile?" The kid didn't seem guarded like he usually would be if he were suddenly spirited away to some unknown land.
no subject
Yuri questioned them too, to see why hr was suddenly a "Hero," when he's aware that his actions and everything were not heroic at all. Though, he felt that this place was a bit effed up in the head. He's not going to lie about that.
"More than you know."
He replied with a smug look, "So if there's anything you can't figure out old man, just let me know."
no subject
"Is it just you, or are th' others here as well?" A reasonable question when one were to think about it. When Raven woke up, it was just him and a bunch of strangers. It wasn't until now, at the end of the day, that he finally stumbled upon someone he knew.
no subject
He replied with a brief shrug. Though, yes he did try to seem like Flynn's issue didn't affect him but hey it does somehow. Flynn was his close friend and shit hit the fan a lot here. He's still bitter about finding people in crystals but Yuri's not good at being serious so he's going to shovel up and bury his issues per usual and move on with his life.
no subject
"Don't suppose ya know somewhere more private fer us to talk about what's goin' on, do ya?" It was rare for Raven to show such a serious side, but well, when most of the gang was missing and the new commandant was stuck in crystal, you had to show a little professionalism. Raven didn't want to be another victim.
no subject
He thought for a moment, though barely, for an answer to that question, "Sure do. It's called my room, or we can go monster hunting and chat. Whichever suits your fancy, old man," he replied, though serious or not, Yuri maintained a typical tone, even if Raven was serious, Yuri was half serious.
no subject
He wasn't Flynn. Knocking out monsters while they spoke wasn't necessary. Besides, it was more comfortable to speak where walls could block prying ears.
no subject
He was leading the way mostly.
no subject
"So what do ya know so far?"
no subject
"This place takes people from other worlds, in attempts to make us these "Heroes of Light" whom are suppose to fight something called a Calamity. In short, we're suppose to be some sort of heroes carrying the flags of battle against evil."
At least, there's a start to the conversation. Yuri will continue if Raven asks for more. He just crosses his arms as he waits.
no subject
"Same ol' dirt, different world?" Except instead of stopping Alexei's ideals, they were stopping this supposed Calamity that wanted to destroy the worlds. Surely there was a reason for that, the villain couldn't be that black could they?
"Sounds like a trouble for there being this many heroes." It was a shame Yuri wasn't around for his earlier encounters. Raven was getting ringed just for blowing off his moogle about it. There were some naive saviors running amuck.
no subject
Yuri didn't find any of this anymore appealing than Raven really. He would rather do his thing when he wanted to and not be called a hero for it, really. He didn't find any of his work "heroic" and he was anything but a hero. He did what was necessary to obtain the overall better good.
Other than that, everything else could go suck it.
"Seems like it. Too many straight laced folks trying to be these 'Heroes' that this world wants, and when they learn about stuff, they got pretty messed up," not that Yuri was surprised, really. Too bad indeed. Yuri had done the same to his.
no subject
"They'll figure it out eventually." Maybe. Raven wasn't serious when he said that. It was more of a knee-jerk response to the lifestyle he once lived. Gone were those days, everything was gray now.
"So I'm guessin' you don't know much more than that?" Because if that were the case, Raven could do some digging to see what he find. He was rather resourceful when it came to gathering information, and being in a different world shouldn't affect his ability to do so all that much.
no subject
"Something like that."
He shrugged. It wasn't really any of his business. He stayed quietly underground and kept to himself. Yuri and Yuffie talked about possibly going to the castle and inspecting it but none of those plans fell through due to what happened before and the damage the world took during that time.
"Other than being shoved in the past and learning some dark secrets about the Heroes of Lights, not much. I'd rather not within in their eyesight. The world of the past was pretty screwed up if you ask me. Makes one wonder what lies for the future. Anyway, there's some sort of rebuilding project going on for the damage this place took during all of that."
no subject
"Screwed up how? If ya don't mind my askin'."
Raven felt like he should know what he was getting into if he were to help. While he won't support the cause in the same way, he would assist how he felt fit.
no subject
Not that it mattered, the past was the past, but that didn't mean the present wouldn't be taken by the past. He'd roll with what he thought was right as usual. Obviously, his dismissive tone was a hint that he wouldn't be going on detail anymore about this.
"So old man, how long ago did you get here?"
no subject
no subject
He's not repeating anything that had already been said beyond that. Of course, if that's all they had to say to each other, Yuri would just start get comfortable in his home and Raven was free to stick around if he pleased. However, it didn't seem like their conversation would end that easily, anyway.
