Intro Log || The Return of the Heroes

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of September. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light. It marks the first time since January that Heroes of Light have appeared in Aqures Ixen.
Warning: N/A

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the city was recently attacked by the Heran Empire and nearly destroyed by Ultima Weapon. What's the Heran Empire? What's Ultima Weapon? Better to ask to the heroes who saw it all.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —

Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they fiercely battled each other past month. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —

With the recent attack, Aqures Ixen is under reconstruction. The city was saved for the most part, but there are ruined buildings, the Sixth District is nothing but wasteland now and the Thirteenth District has become a graveyard. Even so, there are a lot of things left to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, mostly Moogles as many of them are not working after what happened. And of course, they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!

Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them panicked, tired, busy or slacking now that their director has disappeared. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline-- Though they have to make a request 48 hours in before to do so.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
— 19:00 —

Characters venturing by the city's outskirts at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a cow before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.

Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Only the future will tell...

Deep down in my heart is my need to protect those that I love and protect the universe from whatever may happen, but that is probably just me. As for a soul, I think such a thing exists and does shape us into who we are and what we become, so as you said yours is to disassemble and that is not a bad thing.

[She watched him quietly, she could at least explain why something they could have done before at home couldn't be possible now.]

I think it's because of the jobs. I mean I could do a few things that I was unable to when I first arrived. I think that has something to do with it.

[His moogle tried to explain the whole Job situation, but it was lost on Graham's initial panic about being brought here. He thinks on it for a moment, though.]

Yes... Maybe we do have souls after all! Wouldn't that be a happy story? Then I need to fix mine, so I can feel like myself again. But how do you fix something you can't touch? If I fix it, maybe I can really be a hero instead of a villain. Is that's what it's been all along? All this time, my soul that I didn't even know existed was broken, and that's why I've been the villain?

[He finds this idea saddening, and his shoulders droop.]

The universe only continues to move on and prove how unfair it is. Someone like me has never stood a chance! Is it too late to change my ways? Or is that why I was brought here? Do I even want to change my ways? I don't even know!

I don't think that';s hoe being a villain works. A villain is usually someone who has a goal in mind, however there goal means hurting others in order to gain whatever it is they want. It has nothing to do with the soul, be it broken or not.

[Well this person was rather odd and she was trying her best to explain things... that really didn't need explaining.]

As for changing your ways, I like to believe if people want it and try they can.

Let me tell you a sad story: I've always been the villain. Are people born one way or another? Is it nature or nurture? An entire life as a villain can't suddenly be changed because someone tried to re-label me!

What if I I try to change my ways and it's all for nothing, since I was born and bred a villain? Heroes build up and villains tear down. And there is nothing I do better than tear down!

[If there's one thing Graham can have confidence in, it's that. Without thinking, he tosses his wrench high, spinning fast. But on the way back down, he can't manage to catch it and it lands hard, sticking up out of the grass in front of him.

Graham stares blankly at it for a moment. That confidence is gone in a flash, and he falls to his knees.]

...But what if I can't?

[Bloom really had no idea what to make of this guy. She really didn't. Instead she moved to kneel down next to him. She could tell he was discouraged and she wanted to help him get back on his feet.]

Hey... there are jobs where people need dismantle things after all. But... I guess we can think of it this way. Say that wrench is a weapon. Maybe then you'll be able to use it much better. But don't say a villain is always a villain because I don't believe that to be true. People can change.

[It's okay, Bloom. Most people don't know what to make of Graham either. If you're lucky, it'll only take a few minutes for his mood to turn back around. But right now, he's feeling overwhelmed by everything, but especially by how his new Job classes have overridden his skills. It's strengthening his new identity crisis.

Graham pulls the wrench from the ground and clutches it close. Speaking of it being a weapon, now that's she's this close to it, Bloom might be able to tell what looked like they might have been rusted spots on it were actually old blood stains. This was definitely more than just a tool.]

Why would I be called upon to be a hero, but made weaker and slower? I don't get it. Heroes in stories often are average people who are called to rise up and fight. Maybe I wasn't average enough? Or maybe, since I was already a villain, I'm supposed to start over and become a hero.

[He gets to his feet now.] I want to know why I'm here and what I'm supposed to do. But we all do. It's like asking for the meaning of life! And isn't the meaning of life to find your own meaning?

Sure skills change such as speed or strength, but once you find the strength in the jobs you have then anything is possible.

[She stays kneeling for a moment before she moved to stand her herself. wiping herself down for the moment.]

Well actually why you are here is such easier question to answer than the meaning of life. We're here to stop the Calamity. I'm not sure what's going on with that right now due to what has happened, but it's something we are meant to stop.
bright_and_blue: (contemplative)

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-09-17 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
So we do have meaning here. Or, Heroes do. What a great feeling that must be! To know your purpose and fight for it. That's all humanity really wants. But I can't count myself among the Heroes. Not yet. Maybe one day I can count myself along with the rest of humanity. But not yet!

[He starts walking away from the airport grounds now, dragging his wrench along the ground behind him.]

[She sighs slightly, wondering if she should follow him or not, she wanted to say something else, but she wasn't even sure that would sink in for him. With a defeated sigh once more she turned on her heels and decided for the time being it was best to just leave him like that. Maybe someday he'll come to understand.]
