Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.
At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:
"Wake up."
Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.
Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.
The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.
If asked, the Moogles will mention that the city was recently attacked by the Heran Empire and nearly destroyed by Ultima Weapon. What's the Heran Empire? What's Ultima Weapon? Better to ask to the heroes who saw it all.
The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they fiercely battled each other past month. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.
If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.
The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With the recent attack, Aqures Ixen is under reconstruction. The city was saved for the most part, but there are ruined buildings, the Sixth District is nothing but wasteland now and the Thirteenth District has become a graveyard. Even so, there are a lot of things left to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, mostly Moogles as many of them are not working after what happened. And of course, they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!
Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them panicked, tired, busy or slacking now that their director has disappeared. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline-- Though they have to make a request 48 hours in before to do so.
Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
— 19:00 —
Characters venturing by the city's outskirts at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a cow before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.
Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Only the future will tell...

Aqures Ixen
"You're hardly the listening type, Yuri. Kupo."
He bluntly muses towards Yuri as he waved a hand, "Hey now, don't ruin my greeting," he replied pushing his moogle out of the way and then continuing to speak.
"Look, kid. I hate to bust your bubble, but chances are you're going to have a hard time finding all of those people. This place doesn't really bring people together from the same place, and if it does, it isn't for long."
He replied. Better burst his bubble before it goes anywhere right?
no subject
His teeth clenched together harshly. It wasn't the guy in front of him he was angry at, after all... and a part of him felt a little bad for unloading on him like that. It was just as quickly 'rationalized,' however, as he shouldn't have opened his damn mouth. Because what could he possibly know?!
Akane's furry face was tensed. She quickly moved forward and bowed her head for just a moment, "I'm really sorry about him, kupo. Please try to overlook him... I'm sure he must have hit his head at some point. He might not fully realize what he's saying...Either that, or he's just that much of an idiot. In which case, I really hope you can forgive him."
Growling lowly under his breath, Yuichiro's expression made it clear he was getting more annoyed with his moogle by the second. Moving forward, he gave her a very firm glare, "Who's the idiot?! You're the one saying stupid things, here!"
Ugh, she really knew how to get under his skin. Not only was she calling him an idiot, she was apologizing for him. As though his words meant entirely nothing! When it came to his family, though... he fully believed in them. With a quiet sound of frustration, he was back to talking to the other young man. His words are less anger, and more of a genuine...warning, of sorts, "I meant it, okay? I don't want anyone talking like they know what my family's capable of - especially some stranger."
no subject
Clearly, that wasn't the case.
"Yuri, stop talking to him like that, you'll give him the wrong impr--- YUR----"
Yuri seriously just grabbed his moogle and plants him behind with his hand clasped over his mouth. He might be a bit abusive to his own moogle, sorry. Yu really needed to be aware of people here that are veterans, of at least a month. It's not like Yuri didn't lose anyone himself. Flynn was hanging around in the damn Crystal for crying out loud and Raven suddenly popped. Yuri's not a fan of this world at all, obviously.
"Hey, you didn't do anything wrong. There's no need to apologize. The squirt can yell and cry all he wants, but it's not getting him any closer to people he's looking for. This is coming from experience, and it's not like they won't show up, you just don't know when or how. Worse case scenario they end up in those Crystals."
Yuri replied eyeing the area further away where the Crystals were. He lets out an exasperated sigh, "You're not getting the point here are you? No one's saying they're not capable. It's the world that you got to be worried about."
Okay, so he's being a little nice maybe.
no subject
He wasn't the type who wanted a butt pat or to be lied to. That was far from the truth! What he did want, however... was to not be stopped from believing in his teammates...his friends... his family. So it wasn't that he wanted a lie, but he didn't want anyone talking like they knew them or what they were capable of.
Yuichiro was two seconds from thumping his own moogle in the forehead, or something; still, he frowned hard at seeing Yuri's treatment towards his own, "Hey, there's no need to treat them like that!"
Oh, and a squirt, was he? He was just going to outright glare at that! He wasn't... THAT short, damn it!!! That guy was just stupidly tall, or something. Hmph. And it was right there on the tip of his tongue to say all that... until the jerk said something a little less asshole-ish...
Frowning, he briefly lowered his gaze. With gritted teeth, he said without thinking much about it, "Or maybe... Or maybe it's this world that needs to worry about us! Heh... Look, I get that you don't know me. Honestly, I don't care if you ever do! But, know this. I'm not the type to sit back and quietly accept something just because everyone around me does. So, you can save your lecture or advice, or whatever..."
He shoved his hands into his pockets after giving a dismissive wave to Akane, who was clearly about to lecture him for what he was saying, "I was brought here for a reason - but like hell I'm gonna let this place decide what that reason is! I'm in charge of my own damn future, got it?!"
no subject
At least, he wasn't preaching about saving the world and being a straight laced good guy. He was really getting ticked off at hearing a lot of those so-called "Heroes of Light," try to fight for the better good, when the world fully screwed them over by robbing them of their friends and family. Then they went as far as stripping their powers and abilities and gave them new ones. The hell Yuri was going to sit around and let that happen.
Yuri chuckles, "Yeah and you're treating yours much better," He shrugged, and Acrisius was gasping for air when he finally let go. The moogle huffed at Yuri as he flew out of his reach. Sometimes, he didn't get why his hero was such a douche. However, Yuri did do what he needed to do when he was needed. Acrisius knew that Yuri wasn't a bad person, but he really needed to stop with the anti-hero/antagonistic speeches, because it made him look bad. Acrisius didn't want his Hero to look bad, but Yuri had better things to worry about than his reputation. He didn't really care about to be honest.
"That's funny. Then you'd be extremely naive to think that this world gives a crap about us. If they did, they wouldn't strip us of our powers, and the people we care about," Yuri replied almost bitterly as he threw his hands behind his neck.
"Yeah well, that makes the two of us, kid."
This is where Yuri kindly throws his arms around Yu, "So what exactly are you planning on doing to get this started?"
AKA, Yuri already liked his responses, and well maybe Yu got some respect points. Yuri wasn't the type to sit around either and do nothing while others struggled. He was going to take action for himself and control his own life. He was like Yu. He wasn't going to let a place control his future, "Tell ya what. If you're that worried about the folks you care about, how you give me a list of names and descriptions and maybe I'll keep an eye out for them?"
no subject
A smirk was given, "No, I'd be stupid to think something like that. I know this place doesn't care about us. If it did, it wouldn't have dragged us all here against our will. I know it took us away without considering anything we were in the middle of," he said with a nearly bitter tone of his own, before shaking his head, "I already come from a world that doesn't care about the people... so I didn't exactly expect to suddenly be in one that did."
...?!
Suddenly, he was giving a startled blink as he found his space being invaded. Not that it was anything that had never happened, before. Hell, Yoichi was super quick to cling onto him and hug him... or tackle him and cause him to get knocked unconscious. After frowning at the stranger, he looked to the ground with the shrug of one shoulder, "Well, for starters, I'm gonna focus on learning how to use these new powers. I've gotta get stronger if I'm gonna do anything! So, looks like I'll be training."
And finding a job that pays, since there will be things he needs to buy... but minor details.
His expression will soften just the slightest as he quickly looked back at the other person. He was actually willing to help him? For a moment, he considered that he might just be messing with him - one second, he'd been a total jerk... the next he was offering to look for people he didn't even know? The hell was even up with this guy. For a second, he frowned a little... but then he decided it was better to take that chance, since it could up his chances of finding his family. They were more important than a little suspicion... and there really wasn't much of anything he wasn't willing to do when it came to them.
"Uh... okay! Heh... thanks!" He even gave a small grin and nod, since he was trying to hope for the best (since it would likely be the only way he remained sane...)...
no subject
"Good, sounds like you're getting the gist of it."
He replied with a nod of his head, "Sounds like my world, except the only folks that care about each other were those were less fortunate," however, the nobility always left a bad taste in his mouth and it it was the case here as well. He couldn't stand those people for long, unless they were somehow redeemable like Estelle for one. She may have been a flawed individual who had strong idealistic views, but Estelle was someone who did what she could to help those around her. Yuri respected that.
Yuri didn't really get the point of personal space. He just kind of of went with the flow. Of course, his strong arm was still draped over the shorter boy as he waited for a good answer from him. Needless to say, he may have found a better liking towards the kid after hearing what he had to say, "Ya ever needing sparring partner-- I'm more than qualified," he grinned. It would also help Yuri hone his own skills as well, since he usually just ad lib a lot of his moves. Yuri was a bit confusing but he meant well to most people. He gauged them to a certain extent and he moved forward from there. Yu was no different really.
He was gauging him the whole time they spoke and so far, Yu seemed to pass most of his tests-- if he could trying to provoke someone into a fight testing.
"No problem, so what's your name kid? Or you'd rather I call you squirt or something?"
no subject
He fell quiet for a moment during the talk of their own worlds. In his case, it wasn't easy to just toss out a quick explanation. There were a ton of details that needed to go right along with it. His explanation would be spoken in a dry tone, "My world is filled with blood suckers - vampires - who don't give a shit about humans. They kill kids without hesitating. We're in the middle of a war against them."
It was something he could tell a stranger, since it wasn't really anything personal. Would he be going into just exactly why he felt so uncomfortable in his own skin? No, not really. Being stuck as a damn blood sucker was bad enough without trying to talk about a past he still hadn't truly let go of... or fully moved on from. The offer to spar was a great distraction, at least. His eyes very obviously lit up a little.
"Wait - really? You'd spar with me?" His shoulders would be lifting just a little in that clear look of hope as he grinned a bit, in return, "Okay, great! I'd like that, actually!"
Ugh, but then it was ruined with the mention of 'squirt' as a nickname. Man, that guy was going to be... getting on his nerves, a lot, wasn't he? Sigh. Puffing up a little in annoyance, he firmly responded with, "The name's Yuichiro Hyakuya... Not Squirt."
no subject
He shrugged in a sarcastic manner as Yu said those words to him. Either way, it worked out. Acrisius wasn't trying to tear out his moogle fur and Yuri calmed the pissed of teenager down. He was surprisingly easier to reason with than Yuri had anticipated, but the kid was full of thorns everywhere. Yuri was one of those too, so he'd be able to notice some things.
Yuri didn't really comment for a moment as he listened to what Yu had to say about his world. A place full of blood sucking vampires huh? Well that certainly sounded bright and dandy. It sounded just as bad as all the Aer infected monsters and beasts. Man, those were not good memories. He could probably relate with the Kingdom, but Yuri chose to not say anymore about his world than necessary. He wasn't secretive but there were a lot of things he did that weren't deemed, well correct.
"So you're saying kids about your age are drafted into the military to fight off blood sucking monsters that are attempting to destroy humanity probably?" he raised a brow. It would be a silly story if Yuri hadn't heard a lot of weird shit here in this world. However, he did know a few strange things, thus he wasn't really being too sarcastic with that remark, "You must have had it rough huh?"
Then again, Yuri was in the military at some point too. Not that it ended well for him. Yu was free to vent to him what he wanted. Yuri would probably just let him vent all he wanted. After all, compared to Yuri, Yu was just a kid.
"Sure thing. I don't have anything else better to do with my time," he replied with a grin still plastered on his face, "Send a letter or find me around the city. It shouldn't be too hard, right?" he replied with a laugh for his expression. Poor Yu, he's going to be getting a lot of those from Yuri.
"Yuichiro huh? That's a long name to remember? How about Yu?" not that he would really call him Yu, "Or Shorty works too."
Now he's really pulling Yuichiro's leg.
