Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.
At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:
"Wake up."
Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.
Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.
The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.
If asked, the Moogles will mention that the city was recently attacked by the Heran Empire and nearly destroyed by Ultima Weapon. What's the Heran Empire? What's Ultima Weapon? Better to ask to the heroes who saw it all.
The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they fiercely battled each other past month. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.
If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.
The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With the recent attack, Aqures Ixen is under reconstruction. The city was saved for the most part, but there are ruined buildings, the Sixth District is nothing but wasteland now and the Thirteenth District has become a graveyard. Even so, there are a lot of things left to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, mostly Moogles as many of them are not working after what happened. And of course, they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!
Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them panicked, tired, busy or slacking now that their director has disappeared. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline-- Though they have to make a request 48 hours in before to do so.
Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
— 19:00 —
Characters venturing by the city's outskirts at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a cow before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.
Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Only the future will tell...

The City ~ x2 angsty teens
"You're rude."
The new hero looks perfectly calm, casually leaning her weight more to one leg than another. Though the ninja's height gave the girl an attack advantage, the recent arrival stands like she owns the turf.
"It's true though, I don't have any friends. Friends are for weak people who can't stand on their own."
Someone like me, doesn't deserve them.
"What kind of ridiculous cosplay is that?" Her lips turn up in a mocking smirk, more teeth than smile. "Do you use those hammers like ninja stars?"
The City ~ x2 angsty teens XD
The princess stays relaxed, after everything that she's been through it's hard to become phased. Her legs slowly kick the air as she sits as if lazily taking a break from her work.
Yuffie wasn't overly phased by her comment about her clothes. Everyone looked a little strange and she wore what was comfortable which was boots, shorts, a tank top and her headband that displayed to the world that she was of Wutai. "That's not a serious question right? You know how to use a hammer right?" She looked at the girl as if she was both stupid and ridiculous.
Who didn't know how to use a hammer?
no subject
"You're not very bright are you? Of course I know, and it has nothing to do with wearing a headband. Or dangling off a rooftop and asking stupid questions."
There's a moment of pondering, then a nod.
"I get it. Since you're a simpleton they can't trust you with a real weapon. It makes sense, yanking random people in they're sure to get a few duds. Well."
Her tone turns pandering, whether she was mocking Yuffie or truly believed her assessment - it's impossible to tell from the casual way it had been spoken. "You have fun with that hammer, hero."
no subject
"I don't need to rely on weapons to fight." Her eyes narrowed, her voice threatening as she watched the hero. Yuffie had no problems with fighting, of course she knew that she would be stronger than a new hero, so it was a little mean of her.
"Do you even know your limitations here?" Yuffie doubted it since she wasn't listening to her moogle.
LOL LV. 1 hero. Feel free to wallop her if you want. She could use a lesson
At the threatening tone, she starts taking aggressive steps forwards to antagonize the ninja into backing down. It had been her intention to bring the the girl down from the rooftop.
From that first question, she'd made an enemy.
"Oh? That sure of yourself."
That irritating moogle and the green haired girl had warned her she'd be weaker than her home world. A veteran fighter, Kyoko was cocky, it wasn't just going to go away overnight. What better way to test her limitations than on a hero, they were all bleeding hearts like Sayaka right? She wouldn't really get hurt.
Mami had always warned her she was too reckless. "I'd rather see where yours are first." Once she's close enough, the red clad girl grabs for the collar of Yuffie's top to try to lift her by the scruff.
Yuffie is the sort to give lessons the hard way.
She shifted her weight moving down and around the girl. Her feet didn't make a sound as they carefully sidestepped, her blade coming up and slicing across Kyoko's shoulder. Drops of red drip from the cold metal as Yuffie looked over to asses the damage she caused. Yuffie had measured the distance between them spacing them a few yards apart with her guard up.
Her gaze showed that she was serious and that she'd take Kyoko's life without a second thought if it meant that the girl would not be so recklace in the future. Even with lack of death Yuffie wanted her to take it seriously. This wasn't a game.
"If you aren't careful you will die. Is that what you want?"
:D bring it
No. Kyoko was just slower. She should have easily been able to keep up with the girl. Only, what was that speech about not needing weapons to fight? Ignoring the gash on the shoulder, the response to the warning is to whip her spear free. Feet spreading into a ready position, the long weapon pointing towards its prey. A comfortable grin rests on her face, no trace of fear. She had this. A shoulder wound was nothing, someone meaning real harm would have plunged it into her gut. This girl was soft.
"You're one sneaky little bitch. You afraid to die? Too bad, you can't back out now."
Ready deal her first blow, the magical girl subconsciously reaches for her magic -- even though it's been shut off to her since her arrival. To her surprise, there is an answer as her Dark Knight skill Soul Eater strikes out against the ninja as a massive dark energy attack, flashing out like a shock wave in all directions. The strength of the attack comes at the cost of her own life, however. She hunches forwards slightly after its release with a surprised grunt of pain following.
What the hell, kind of twisted magic was this shit?!
Rawr
Yuffie dug her dagger forward slicing through Kyoko’s side while whispering in her ear. “I’ve died again and again. I already know what it feels like.” When her work was done she teleported again, appearing back across from her target with a serious expression spread across her lips.
“It’s living that’s hard.” The wound she dealt was deep but it was up to Kyoko if she wanted to keep fighting. Yuffie had no qualms about continuing their match.

As Yuffie's mocking words slither past, her spear recoils in retaliation -- whipping around, Kyoko lunges at where the girl should be only to slice air. Locking a stare at the girl clear across now, even though she can practically still feel the tickle from the girl's whispers against her ear.
Blood continues flowering over her shoulder and side to match her hair and eyes, the faintest trace of sweat now dampens her brow, but the stubborn girl gives no trace of backing down.
Her brows furrow down slightly. "What kind of magic are you using? I've seen that before. If you're trying to be intimidating, you shouldn't say crazy stupid shit." Dying and coming back to life, as if that happened. "If you don't like living so much, quit whining and leave the world for the rest of us."
Dashing forward, the dragoon takes to the sky with a sudden burst of speed, descending as she slashes the spear overhead in an ark. Not even so much as breathing as she watches her stealthy opponent, intent on breaking through any illusions and re redirecting her strike should she need to.
no subject
"Alright. I'll spell it out for you. Since I assume you don't want me to show you." Yuffie can if Kyoko wants. "You are a hero of light. You won't die here unless killed by something special."
Yuffie rushed forward, her movements fast and hard to see. Her blade slashed Kyoko across the thigh before she took a defensive stance a few yards away. "Your crystal has to be destroyed." Her eyes narrow slight. "Also, I want to live because I have something besides myself to protect."
And because of that Kyoko can't win.
no subject
"What a load of crap." First she says she's died over and over, now suddenly she can't die. This bitch should just keep her mouth shut, her bluffing sucks but her magic is lethal. There's a whirlwind whip of her spear at Yuffie's lunge, while the ninja shreds her thigh Kyoko very nearly slit's the ninja's throat - just a hair closer and the game would be over. Seems the magical girl is getting good at anticipating her opponent's moves. It didn't hit this time -- but maybe the next one. She may be a new hero, but the girl has always danced with a spear and will always be lethal with one.
Her teeth are grit and brows knit slightly, she's clearly hurting but it doesn't seem to be slowing her down. In fact, Kyoko's getting pissed off from being toyed with. Worse, she's feeling backed into a corner. She can't...won't be weak again. That's how you get eaten. She had to kill Yuffie to prove to herself she could survive.
"You don't even fight, you're a fucking coward. You don't cross blades, you sneak around like a little bitch. If you really fought me, I'd destroy you."
There's a savage look to the girl now, as she's unable to extend her weapon into the chain that normally protects her from close range attacks she starts thrusting her spear outwards repeatedly in quick motions to try to prevent Yuffie from dipping in, the longer weapon giving her the advantage. As she does so she advances towards the girl, then she takes a running dive at the Ninja, as though seeking to run the Gaian through.
"You're weak. Whatever you're protecting, is doomed!"
She unleashes Soul Eater at the moment their fighting so far has shown the girl would normally have flickered out of the sight hoping to shock the girl for the briefest moment in place, bracing herself against the pain she knows will come from the magic attack even as Kyoko's spearhead seeks Yuffie's gut.
no subject
She's done playing.
A quick flick of her wrist she throws 4 blades into Kyoko each one aimed for a different limb. It's a quick motion that comes from years of practice with her ninja skills.
Yuffie didn't say anything as she stood up on the roof. She looked down at Kyoko with a dark gaze. She had nothing to say to her and what was annoying was that Yuffie saw so much of herself in the new hero. There was so much of herself she hated in the young girl.
no subject
There's a clamor as the spear falls to the ground as she watches it helplessly, unable to move her arms properly. Her legs buckle in response to the twin blades that found purchase. Stubborn, she tries to stay up -- but only manages to cause herself more injury in the stumble to the ground.
That's it...she's really going to just die like some rookie alone in an alley. It's not like...she really deserves anything better. Shaking, she lifts her head up at Yuffie with a look of defiance, expecting a finishing blow. Beaten and bloody and on her knees, she finally looks like the 14 to 16 year old she is instead of the ruthless girl she tries to pull off. Kyoko braces herself, clearly expecting a finishing blow, her breaths come quick and pained, the vision of the ninja on the rooftop going in and out of focus.
Maybe, Sayaka will find out and be careful. At least then it wouldn't be for nothing.
no subject
"I'm not gonna kill you. Geeze."
Her tone was light but also a little worried. Kyoko was bleeding a lot. Yuffie carefully and quickly carried her to the hospital, knowing that they would stop the bleeding and get her back up on her feet in a few days.
no subject
"Wh..."
She could not understand why the girl was not killing her, but her eyes were barley open. With the soul eater attacks having drained more than half her life force, the young fighter is in much worse shape than even the daggers alone wrought having unintentionally injured herself in the battle. Between the blood loss and life drain, she loses consciousness long before reaching the hospital.
