Intro Log || The Return of the Heroes

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of September. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light. It marks the first time since January that Heroes of Light have appeared in Aqures Ixen.
Warning: N/A

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the city was recently attacked by the Heran Empire and nearly destroyed by Ultima Weapon. What's the Heran Empire? What's Ultima Weapon? Better to ask to the heroes who saw it all.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —

Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they fiercely battled each other past month. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —

With the recent attack, Aqures Ixen is under reconstruction. The city was saved for the most part, but there are ruined buildings, the Sixth District is nothing but wasteland now and the Thirteenth District has become a graveyard. Even so, there are a lot of things left to do in the city for newcomers. A few groups of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, mostly Moogles as many of them are not working after what happened. And of course, they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!

Characters are also free to visit the city-- Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with Moogles, most of them panicked, tired, busy or slacking now that their director has disappeared. They can also visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline-- Though they have to make a request 48 hours in before to do so.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
— 19:00 —

Characters venturing by the city's outskirts at this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a cow before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. If your character do see it, hopefully there will be someone with them. Otherwise, nobody will believe their story.

Was it an UFO or just a hallucination? Only the future will tell...

[Oh, good. At least there was someone to back up Johnny's claims, and this guy didn't think he was just making stuff up. He feels for him, especially after the remark about another new world.]

"Another", huh. So you've done this little song and dance before? Me too, but they weren't nice enough to call us heroes in the last place I was. But he's right. [Johnny nods a head towards the moogle.]

It's totally insane, but he's right. Heroes, powers, a world to save, the whole goddamn nine yards. Welcome to Crystallis.

"So... this isn't Atia?" Reno knew the answer in his head, it was obvious now, but he just needed to say it to make it real. As much as he didn't want it to be.

"No, kupo." The moogle shook its furry head vigorously.

Reno's shoulders slumped, his heart sank. This was not good. Death on Atia was one thing, paying the toll to the death god to be resurrected with hopefully little lost, then returning to what he'd been trying to do -- find Kyo. But another new world? He might never see Kyo again. And he still retained all his memories so he felt every loss.

"... Shit." What else could he say?

Johnny would be able to relate to that better than Reno would know. But for now, he still feels a little bad for any newbie, since everyone is pulled here without asking. It wasn't fair, but there wasn't anything to be done about it.

"It sucks, man, I know as well as or better than anyone. Trust me. But the only thing I can do is answer questions. Or do my best to, anyway. This place ain't great, but I've lived in worse places. Things are just kinda crazy here."

Reno stood silent, lips pursed as he thought. The moogle nervously adjusted its glasses again.

Finally he looked at Johnny again. "You said better 'n anyone? You've been to another world before this one?"

If nothing else, it was kind of nice finding someone else who had been relocated twice.

"This'd be the third planet I've lived on. And the last place I lived was actually way more complicated than this one, which says somethin'."

Johnny look around them, as if considering the scenery. Aqures Ixen was in rough shape, but it was still better than Exsilium by leagues.

"But I can't go back to that one, or my home. So while the idea of bein' some kinda Hero of Light is total bullshit, I kind of have an interest in savin' this one from being destroyed. I mean, other than the wars and the slow approach of the apocalypse, it's a pretty decent place. Even without electricity."
shinra_dog: (grimace)

[personal profile] shinra_dog 2015-09-26 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"No electricity?" Reno's lip curled in distaste and he pouted. Of course that was the one thing he focused on. But even on Atia there was electricity.

"Fuck..." he sighed. "Third world myself, an' every one's a step down."

The moogle crossed his arms, looking offended. Its expression only got worse when Reno asked, "There's no weird sex stuff t' bein' a Hero of Light, is there?"

That was pretty much last on the list of questions Johnny was expecting. He can't help but chuckle just a little, confused by how absurd that sounded.

"Buddy, if there is, no one's asked me to join the club. Do I even wanna know why that's on the list of yer first questions?"
shinra_dog: (kink)

[personal profile] shinra_dog 2015-09-27 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course not, kupo!" Reno's moogle was sputtering indignantly. The Turk himself just chuckled and shook his head. Habitually, his hand rose to his throat before he willed it down.

No collar. This wasn't Atia. No more choking. He was relieved, but the action may have drawn Johnny's attention to the bruising around Reno's neck and the gauze bandage taped to one side.

"It's, ah... a long story," he said, deciding not to get into the details with a stranger.

Johnny wouldn't expect him to. He gives Reno an apologetic look. Considering his questions and the way he was acting and looked, it was clear that whatever world this guy came here from, it was probably pretty bad.

"Look. This world's got a ton of problems. We just got done with a war. There's a good chance that the whole world might even be ending if we can't find a way to stop it. But in the grand scheme of things? I like this world. I like this city. And I like the people here, both Heroes and normal citizens. So I think it's worth fightin' for, even if I ain't some kinda typical hero type. That's just my two cents, though." He shrugs, like maybe it meant nothing.
shinra_dog: (dreaming)

[personal profile] shinra_dog 2015-10-01 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Reno crossed his arms and looked down while he thought. This guy had a point, sort of. Surely some people liked this world. And without sex collars, it seemed pretty decent.

He missed his friends dearly. And he still needed to find Kyo. He had his own agenda to be sure. But... while he was stuck here... he supposed he could still be a hero along the way. Once he found Kyo, they could be heroes together. Maybe make a life here. Maybe once things settled down (war? really?), this would all just be one more blip on the way to getting home.

The moogle hovering at Reno's shoulder pushed his glasses up again nervously and opened his mouth to speak again when Reno nodded.

"Then I guess I'm a hero," the Turk sighed, then cringed. "Gods, it feels weird saying that."

That gets a sympathetic grin out of Johnny.

"I feel the same way, man. It's just a name, though."

He finally offered a hand for a handshake.

"Johnny. Welcome to the club."

Probably not as weird as I feel, Reno thought to himself, shaking Johnny's hand firmly. If the crystal overlooked a little thing called mass murder, it had some strange standards for heroes. But he was here.

"Reno," he introduced himself. "And thanks for the welcome, I guess. If nothin' else, it's nice t' know someone else who's been dragged from world to world."
