Event || Window of Opportunity

Characters: All Heroes of Light.
Where: Aqures Ixen - Everywhere
When: September 25th - From 12:30 to 22:30.
Summary: Heroes of Light will relive the same ten hours over and over again until they find a solution. This may be a blow to what's left of their sanity, but that's also a window of opportunity! The OOC Post is here for more information! It's not too late to sign-up, anyone can still jump right into the event! However, your vote for the total number of loops will not be taken into account any more.

Speaking of which-- Votes are in and this time displacement madness will be solved after 191 loops. Practically speaking, this means characters going through every single loop will live 2 months, 2 weeks, 3 days and 14 hours in the span of half a day. Hopefully they won't mind the food for the day, the clothes they're wearing or what they were doing when the loop started, because that's what they'll be stuck with until the end. There are some events described below, but there will be no NPC replies. Feel free to partake in these events and of course, make your own!

Warning: Too many time loops may be bad for your mental health.

The Flence Salesman
— All Day Long —
There is a salesman from Flence in the city, and he is going for every person he sees in the streets. Adults, children or elders, humans or tarutarus, it doesn't matter to him so long as he can make money! He will try to sell to the characters specialties from Flence and some crystals at absolutely awful prices, but he's open to negotiations and beyond that, he's extremely persistent. Normally, nobody would care about this, but given the salesman isn't be aware of the loop, he'll keep doing the same things over and over again... Hopefully he won't see your characters, otherwise he might just bother them for every single loop.

Moogle Demonstration for the Future of Mognet
— 12:30 => 16:00 —
For a surprise one-day long strike, the Moogles are demonstrating! There are roughly 800 Moogles together (250 according to the government, 5000 according to the striking Moogles) in the demonstration, all singing slogans and some even holding placards with "More Gil and Less Work" or "Give us Kupo Nuts" signs.

They started at 10:00 and left from the 09th District, but they will go throughout every district and explain what their protest is about. They'll finish at 16:00 and will be back to the 09th District to eat Kupo Nuts and drink Chocobo Milk together.

Biggs' Grand Return
— 14:00 => 22:30 —
After a month spent in the hospital, Biggs is finally back! He leave the Hospital at 14:00 and head straight for the Castle of Aqures Ixen. Noticeably he still has a broken and bandaged arm, but he'll pretend to be totally fine and for that matter, he will be as rude and as unfriendly as ever. He will spend most of the day in the Castle, but will go in Palitutu's Lab by 19:00 to meet with Cid. Among other things, he will side-eye everyone and will accidentally splash Cid's coffee on a Hero of Light working there (or on a Moogle, should the Hero have the good sense to avoid Biggs next loop).

Renovation of the Blitzball Stadium
— 15:30 => 20:00 —
The repairs are going steadily and today, a special dome from Trano Golsaucia is being transported and placed on the Blitzball Stadium, brand new and much more modern than what Aqures Ixen used to have! On the downside however, the airship bringing the dome and the work being done on the stadium are all very, very noisy. So noisy that everyone in a two-district radius will be bothered by it.

Under normal circumstances it would have been only for a short time and easilly bearable, but here it will happen for every single loop.

Have You Heard of the Heroes of Light?
— All Day Long —
Throughout the day, a few people are going to go and knock on every doors in the city, to talk about a most fascinating topic: the Heroes of Light! They will speak about how it is said the Heroes of Light are in Crystallis and how they managed to defeat the empire without difficulties back during the attack! Then they will go on and ask for a contribution (hear: money) to help the Heroes of Light in their cause. Of course, these people are dishonest and the money will go into their own pockets, as they don't believe in the Heroes of Light to begin with.

And of course, they'll go knock on doors during every single loop!

The Accident
— 22:29 => 22:30 —
The one minute that started it all. Who is the imbecile who committed the mistake on Palitutu's computer? Is this a Moogle or a Hero of Light, maybe Cid or Biggs? Whoever it is, after the first time, at 22:29 the program will start again on its own and will activate the loop right at 22:30, sending everything back to 12:30. The characters may try to run more programs to block the computer, cut the energy source or even bomb the building if they so wish...

But these archaic and barbaric solutions won't prevent the next loop from happening. Only hard work and scientific solutions shall prevail!

[Wandering around early one ~~day~~ loop, Manami comes across Yuffie at the training yard. Something about how smoothly she moves makes him pause to watch her carefully. It kind of reminds him of his senpai, who can ride even a clanky old bike and make it completely silent and smooth.

As he stands there, he tries to imitate her slow movements, but it seems hard to replicate such deliberate movements without a lot of practice! He laughs softly to himself. Well, if he really wanted to he'd have the time to learn. But maybe it'd just be fun to spar with Yuffie-san too!]

Hi, Yuffie-san~!

[He calls out with little regard for any potential meditative state.]

[Yuffie almost falls over when her concentration is shattered. She glances over at the familiar face her lips cracking into an annoyed smile. She doesn't like being interrupted and her day has sucked but it's always good to see Manami.]

Hiya. I don't... do you usually come here?

[She's used to seeing the same few people at the training yard and unless she's in teaching mode she's usually left alone.]

[Haha- nice reaction. (And she didn't yell at him for interrupting her!)

He shakes his head.]

Nope, not really. But I have a lot of time on my hands now, if you know what I mean.

[Either she does or she doesn't know about the time loop- even then it doesn't matter too much either way right now.]

[She really has no idea what he means. She'll blink a few times before placing her palms on her hips.]

What's that suppose to mean? Tired biking already?

[Welp, that clears that up.
He laughs, coming closer.]

Never! I never get tired of biking! [It's just really boring only being able to get ten hours out, and his physical condition gets reset every time. sigh.]

But how about sparring with me? It'll be fun~

[Yuffie grins, stretching her arms over head.]

Think you can keep up?

[It isn't like biking and she is a talented fighter. Not that she doubts Manami but she's never seen him fight for real.]

Heh heh~ I'll do my best, Yuffie-san!

[When he opens his eyes from that smiling laugh, his eyes focus on her intensely.]

Don't hold back.

[They can't be hurt permanently because of the time loop. He supposes he could try to explain it to her, but maybe she won't hold back anyway. He hopes she doesn't- he won't be.

He grips his spear and stands, at ease but ready.]

[Yuffie isn't one for holding back, even if she knows she out levels and out skills someone. Luckily Manami would be close to her level so she won't feel bad for giving it her all.

Her practice blade flicks into her wrist, a dulled down dagger that she's been using to perfect her throwing skills. Her begins by watching his stance, the steady rise and fall of his chest with each breath and the tension in each muscle as he faces her. With a smirk she dashes forward, her feet whispering over the ground as she blinks behind him, her blade rising to slice through his side.]

Got cha!

[Yuffie might be just a little to cocky.]

[Manami, in turn, blinks out.]

Oh-to-to--

[From about 70 feet away, he turns back to Yuffie while investigating his side.]

You're fast! You really did get me! Would have been worse if I hadn't used vanish.

[He likes it. A fast, experienced opponent. The dragoon's advantage is in distance though. It'll be hard to keep her from getting so close.

He uses spirit surge. He's pretty sure this will be over one way or the other in five minutes, and to fight full-out means to use every ability like this! That done, he carefully watches for her next move, to decide how he should attack next. He has several possibilities in mind...]

I didn't think you liked training.

[Yuffie's grin widens, she's glad to see that he isn't a push over though her cocky attitude will probably make her lose this fight even though she's a seasoned warrior.

The dull blade flips in her palm. With time mage and pirate equipped she isn't about to do much about her speed. She'd need to be faster to close the distance though she is going to use all of her skills to their fullest. She blinks again and is willing to chase Manami with the skill until her blade is able to land it's hit.]

Training is boring!

[And suddenly, she is here again. He jumps- straight up, using his skill. It seems like the increase in speed from spirit surge will give a nice edge~
Using copies and disguise while lingering at the height of his jump, he transforms himself into ten copies of a spear-wielding Tia. Which one of the ten moogles descending on her will she focus on? Hopefully not the one looking to land just behind to her right, aiming to strike her shoulder.]

[Yuffie's used to this tactic. She doesn't focus on any of them, instead she rolls out of their way, seeing that they are all aiming for her current position. She feels pressure glaze along her shoulder but she more or less manages to be missed by the brunt of the blow.]

Well that is true.

[She skids to a stop, letting her heels dig into the ground before she casts stop on the surrounding area. While time is frozen she brings her blade through each and every clown until finding Manami's figure.

She stands behind him, blowing into his ear as she releases the spell.]

Got you again.

[She's having way to much fun.]

[Manami pitches forward, taking a few steps and making a surprised noise at the breath in his ear.]

Wh- What was that?

[That was really strange- and all the copies are gone.]

Haa- Yuffie-san is even faster than I thought...

[And then he attacks broadly with Crescent Moon.
Or, at least that's what it looks like.
Using Illusion doesn't have to be fancy or big. Making her perceive him as being somewhere he's not is another way to use it. Having control of all the senses is useful too, as he can move without being heard or seen.

He wastes no time in raising his spear, intending to strike the pole against her right arm to numb it.]

[She's using just a little bit to much magic though and she won't be able to keep it up for long.

Yuffie jumps back trying to dodge the illusion, she manages to pick up a slight sound of Manami moving but she isn't fast enough to react to it.]

Crap!

[The pole hits her arm and she feels it numb the limb while she tries to move her fingers.]

That's cheap.

[Ohh~ it looked like she might have caught him. She's sharp! But not sharp enough for now.

He lets go of the Illusion and whirls the spear around to go for the other arm without comment.

It's not cheap- it's using all his skills to best his opponent. (If not, he might argue that 'stop' magic is cheap.)]

[Yuffie sees the second attack and even with her right arm aching she manages to roll away. Her feet fall forward and for a moment it looks like she's stumbling more than rolling away.

When she stops, she's facing Manami, softly panting as she thinks about her next angel of attack. Now that she's not being cocky she realizes that she's at a disadvantage. Not saying that Yuffie's going to give up.

The ninja sprints forward, blinking and then appearing to Manami's right, her weapon which is now in her left hand, aiming for Manami's knee cap. She's going to keep her center of balance low, ready to roll away and out of his striking rang if need be.]

[Ahh, that ability is hard to deal with!
Her left-handed strike lands, throwing his counter attack off as his knee instinctively folds under the pain. His strike goes wide, and she rolled away easily as if she was expecting it anyway.

Looking over at her he laughs lightly. The pain in his knee, the growing light-headiness of using so much magic, the challenge of fighting her-]

I really feel alive...!
Dragon breath-

[A stream of fire immediately courses towards Yuffie, aiming to sear the whole area around her.]

[Yuffie isn't stupid, she knows she can't dodge that breath. She turns away shielding her eyes and face from the attack while letting it sear her limbs and back. When the fire is gone Yuffie sits on the ground looking up at Manami with a pout.]

Magic is cheating.

[Not that her time magic, wasn't magic.]

Shit when did you get awesome. That really isn't fair.

[Yuffie jumps back to her feet and then runs at Manami, she is not okay with him winning.]

[He just grins at that. It could be argued that the dragon breath was a skill, not magic. But then, both of them have used magic this fight, so there's no point in splitting hairs.

He is extremely pleased at the compliment- enough so that his smile is more genuine for a moment. That is, before she jumps to her feet and charges at him.

Eyes wide, his expression is feverishly excited as he extends his spear before him and calls out,]

Chaos thrust!

[If she can't evade that, it's going to hurt a lot~]

[Yuffie isn’t trying to evade anything anymore. She lets his blade dig into her side, the pain and heat from the attack flaring through her. It’s nothing compared to pains of the past and she’s able to keep moving, her small blade sinking into his side.

She isn’t going to pull it out, instead she’s going to rest her head on his shoulder and stand very still.]

OW! Manami that hurts!!

[She peeks sideways up at him, her lips forming a smile while also grimacing.]

[The thing is, Manami isn't one to think too deeply about consequences. He knew the time loop absolved him of them, but he missed something.]

[Yuffie's body impacting his spear sends a shudder through him. In every sparring match before everyone always... evaded... so well...

When she stabs him despite her own injury he laughs quietly at the sensation. What it feels like to be stabbed- to feel alive-
The euphoria of that moment is dulled by the weight of Yuffie's head on his shoulder, by her pained smile.

His eyes grow wider with some yet-unregistered emotion even as he returns the smile.]

Of course. You didn't evade it at all...

[But she's hurt. She's really hurt, and he's holding the spear that hurt her.]

Y-Yuffie-san. I- I have a potion here. You know, Tia won't let me take one step out of the house without at least three on me now. [Why is his voice wavering like that? As he talks, he holds the spear in his left hand as his right goes to the pouch on his waist. Perhaps it's best to not move too much now.] Three- three is a bit much, isn't it? [Why is it so hard to grasp the vial?] So seeing as I can't possibly drink three on my own, you ought to at least have one, all right? M-maybe two. [Finally, he's able to work one vial out of the pouch and brings his hand back around in front of him.] Your face looks a little scary when you smile like that, you know?

[Yuffie laughs which reminds her that laughing hurts. Her hand slowly moves over to the side which is stained by the blood that’s slowly spilling from the open wound. Her fingers press against the slick warm opening gently assessing the damage. After a moment she pushes her palm against her side, applying pressure while also sending waves of pain through her small form. Manami will notice the weight on his shoulder slowly getting heavier.

She doesn’t look as concerned about it as he does. She’s use to fighting, she’s used to getting hurt and while it does hurt, she’ll get better so she can’t really complain.]

Don’t make me laugh it hurts.

[Even so she’s smiling, her hair falling around her face as if to frame the expression that shouldn’t be there. The rest of her hair is gathered in a ponytail that trails down the center of her back. She’s happy that he has positions on him because she most certainly does not.]

Potion sounds good but I think you might have to help me.

[She’s not about to move her palm away from the wound in her side. She is already starting to get dizy and potions do nothing for blood loss.]

Is this your first time stabbing someone?

[She doesn’t peg him as the killing type.]

[With his hands full, he uses his teeth to unstop the vial of potion and shrugs his shoulder a bit to get Yuffie to move her head so he can put it to her lips.]

Drink this.

[First time stabbing someone...?]

Someone... You know, I think it is. I've killed lots of monsters here, and sparred lots of times, but like this... [He swallows, his throat suddenly dry. Once Yuffie is done with that potion, he should drink one too.]

[Yuffie groans when he moves his shoulder, clearly displeased with the gesture. Her head is starting to swim which is making it hard to focus on anything other than the burning pain at her side. Even so, her head rolls slightly, her dark eyes looking up at Manami while her lips continued to rest in that eerie half smile. Sweat dotted her forehead as he held up the bottle.]

Well monsters don’t often talk back at you.

[She winces when she inhales, she should really drink that instead of talking.]

Guess you’ve never killed someone, huh? [He should really get on that.

Yuffie tries to lift the potion with her free hand; however the bottle slips through her fingers before she can even lift it from Manami’s hold. Blood loss really sucks and it’s slowly sapping her strength as the sticky dark liquid slips between her fingers. Instead Yuffie rests her hand on his wrist bringing the bottle to her lips. Her eyes glance over at him expectantly as if to tell him to tilt the bottle up so she could drink.]

[He obediently tips the vial slowly, carefully watching her drink.]

Heh- what are you saying? Of course I've never killed anyone. I'm a normal high school student.

[He feels a little relieved once Yuffie finishes the potion.]

You should probably lie down. Haa, I feel like I should lie down too.

[The weight of his spear in his left hand and of her head on his shoulder seem to be pressing him to the ground. Which is a strange contradiction to how light his head feels. Oh, yah. And he'd been stabbed too. Lying down would probably be good.]
