Dinner for Trolls

WHO: Rukia Kuchiki, Yuri Lowell
WHAT: Two GREAT FRIENDS share a meal and tease the crap out of each other.
WHEN: October 9th
WHERE: Aqures Ixen

If Rukia was going to be gone for a few days, then Yuri would probably like to have his stew pot safely returned. She was still uneasy about departing for military tests when it seemed like the city was starting to get plagued by restless spirits. She was a shinigami, this should have been her specialty.

But that's not what she was in this world. It was a bitter pill to swallow, especially knowing that she should be able to feel the presence of the undead. All she felt was the cool evening air, and a heap of insufferable frustration.

So why visit Yuri, who was likely to add fuel to the fire? Because he'd add fuel to a different fire, one that was far more manageable. They'd bicker and needle each other, and it would get her mind off of things for a short time. Besides, she had certain questions she wanted to ask him.

Reaching his front step, she cradled the pot under her arm and knocked with the back of her hand. "Oi, it's Rukia," she called out. Maybe they could go eat something, too.

Yuri was lazily sleeping in his room as the door was knocked from the other side. Of course, he didn't really want to get it to be honest. There was a lot of things going on and he'd rather keep everything to a peaceful minimum. Yuri rolled over and pulled the sheets over his head as Acrisius floated to him.

"You have a guest, Yuri," he replied calmly. Lately, they've been a bit more comfortable with each other and the bickering was less obvious. Yuri looked up at his moogle and shrugged.

"Get the door if it bothers you so much," he replied pulling the sheets over again. Acrisius sighed as he made his way towards the door, small moogle hands opened the door as he greeted Rukia with a bow, "Good Evening, Miss Rukia."

He replied before adding, "Yuri is inside."

As in he gives her permission to do what she wants

Yuri already heard her and he wasn't having it and down he goes back into the comfort of his sheets, ignoring her. What did the chick want anyway? He wasn't in the mood to deal with her right now, much less humor her.

He silently cursed himself for telling Acrisius to get the damn door. He's not budging but he at least responded to her when she said those words to him. If she pulled at his sheets, he would have his body tightly rolled in it. Good luck!

"Who says I'm old? You're thinking of the wrong guy."

Lucky for her, he did have stuff underneath the sheets but that was a good call on her part. He might have played a mean prank on her and things could have gotten a little shaky. Anyway, he turned to her giving a knowing look before shoving the sheets off of him.

He started laughing when he was told about the date thing. Honestly, it went a lot more smoothly than he imagined, but he was going with Yuffie, so they were already comfortable with each other's company to not cause too much trouble for the other.

"You know, whoever signed me up for it, I need a word with. I have this funny feeling that your little ray of sunshine of a furball was involved."

He waited a moment before adding, "The usual. It was Yuffie. I don't get why anyone would want to go on a date with this guy here. I mean really?"

He's a guy who did a lot of bad things probably, and didn't have a solid job. He bummed a lot and definitely not a good role model for anyone.

"Oh no, I wonder why I should be thinking that," seeing how well Chapo put herself out there. Yuri didn't doubt that she was the one behind all of this. Not that Yuri would grill her, but he would like to have a word with her for her little games to be honest. Rukia didn't seem to be the type to sign people up against their wills but she wasn't really the type to sell out her own comrades. Yuri would just have to find Chapo and dig the answer from her somehow. The thing was amazingly easy to read.

"You and your flattery. If you're trying to pick me up, Shorty, you're doing a pretty bad job at it," he replied with a brief laugh, shoving the covers off of him, "Infuriating huh? I tend to have that affect on folks. Flynn's always getting pissed off at me too, now that I think about it," he laughed aloud, though something about the way he talked about this "Flynn" person seemed a bit strange, in a sense that they might have been more important to Yuri than he realized sometimes.

"She was demanding I brushed her hair and called me a girl, several times. I am not sure that's good, but yeah I guess we had a decent time."

"Good to know you're honest Shorty," he replied with a chuckle from his lips. He was only teasing her at the most. He didn't have much romantic interest towards anyone here really. His best friend was just his friend, and his brother for life but that could be taken the wrong way when they seem way too close. It wasn't like Yuri cared though.

It was like people assuming he was a girl. He knew he wasn't a girl, but if some idiot thought that girls should be the only people with long hair, then t hey got a few things coming. Flynn. At the comment, his mood changed slightly, but he obviously being Yuri he brushed it off.

"An unbearable guy from my world. We grew up together."

He replied with a shrug.

"I guess you can call him a close friend of mine."

Seeing that Flynn and him were like night and day but they both had the same goals in mind with different approaches. Yuri props a hand on his knees as he sits up, "If the guy ever wakes up, I'll introduce you two."

"That's a good trait to have. Don't lose track of it," he replied with a brief grin from his lips at her words and then he started laughing at her next comment. He hadn't had a good laugh in a while. It took him a moment before he could speak again.

"Man you're pretty exciting aren't ya, Shorty?" he replied wiping a tear from his eye. Maybe he laughed a bit too hard, but at least he was awake now and had his full attention on her. There were reasons why he was moping but he wouldn't mention them. Of course, Flynn was on the list, but it was only a small portion of the problems he was dealing with to be honest.

"Sure thing. I am pretty sure he'd treat you a lot more delicately than I would."

He replied shrugging a little. He moves to the edge of the bed so they can go eat now.

"It's been a good couple of months, maybe five or something like that. I wasn't counting."

That was an obvious lie, but he brushed it off as the truth. Yuri had been keeping track since Flynn had fallen in the Crystal Stasis.

That was fine with him. He would answer as he saw fit but Rukia shouldn't expect too much from Yuri, seeing he was pretty chill with everything to begin with and dismissive. If he didn't want to talk about something he sort of shoved it to the side without much remorse, and that was just the type of guy he was.

"You kidding? It's nice to not have him breathe down my neck all day," he replied sarcastically, but clearly there was more to it than that. Yuri was brushing the topic aside and avoiding the subject all together. Flynn was someone he got used to dealing with and at the same time his lack of presence did affect Yuri in some way or form. They were best friends after all. They also grew up together. It was a strange feeling of missing your other half when they weren't around.

They were bros for life kind of people anyway. Though, he doubted Flynn wanted him to mope around about him. Yuri pulled his shoes on and stretched a little as he petted Acrisius on the head and stalked towards the door in silence.

"We should get going since I'm pretty sure you're hungry."

"Yeah-- I keep hearing that. What's a "Shinigami" if ya don't mind the personal question. Makes you sound rather otherworldly if you ask me.

Yuri mused as he finished with his shoes and was getting back up and starting towards the door. Acrisius followed quietly after Yuri, keeping a close distance between the two of them. Clearly, he was pretty well appreciated right now, so he felt better about his current hero.

Eventually, she'll learn more about him as the time passes. He's just not the kind of person that enjoys talking about himself unfortunately.

"Mabo Curry, the usual. I can make pretty much anything else," he shrugged though, Mabo Curry was something he ate normally and could make it as well. Though, he liked the way it's made by others as well.

"Probably wasn't the right time and place for it if anything," he replied not seemingly bothered that she didn't tell him about that. He didn't really notice it until recently, the way she spoke. It seemed as though she was something completely different from a human but his guess could have been wrong. Good thing it turned out right in the end. His gut feelings were rather useful in a sense.

"Soul Reapers huh? That sounds like a pretty nifty occupation you have there. Then again I suppose that makes a lot of sense the way you act and talk. Then there's that sword skills ya got too."

He replied with a hand to his chin in brief ponder. It was a lot more than he thought but it wasn't annoying. He at least learned something new about her. He's seeing her in a different light slowly and gradually. The strangely active shorty was a Soul Reaper of sorts with a pretty important role. It seemed like her world was full of confusing things that Yuri didn't get but he didn't find odd either.

He was used to strange things after.

"Who wants to know?" he mused giving her a side glance, "No kidding. Then again it makes more sense for folks like you who actually got something they work consistently at. I'm just a wanderer."

He replied with a brief laugh.

In more ways than one it can be formal. Not that he minded it too much. He got used to it quickly since there were people he knew that spoke in that manner. Of course, as she said it didn't change his view on her knowing that she was a noble of sorts. He only laughed a bit at her comment regarding being friends with aristocrats. Despite, being adopted to a noble family, Yuri could tell s he was pretty normal.

"Sounds about right and nah I know and aristocrat at home too. She was quite the trouble maker," he replied chuckling. Estelle definitely had her charms and was completely different from many nobles he had met. The same could be said for Rukia. Despite, Rukia saying such things to him, he didn't see her as anything more than just Rukia.

"Not a lot of folks do it. It does take time and energy to do so. What about me?" he replied with a shrug, "I just pick up things here and there."

That's as straight forwards as she was going to get in regards to that question.

She's pretty much guessed the second part right. Yuri did what he could with what he had. He and his companions were often traveling so there was only so much they could carry on their body. Sometimes, they would procure food from the forest, or a nearby town for the day. It was pretty natural to be honest. He's gotten pretty used to being that person that took care of his companions and feeding them when they needed it.

"Is it really?" he replied raising a brow at her. Honestly, he couldn't really believe that this was interesting at all. Cooking was just a hobby and he had to live on his own so he had to learn.

"Sounds about right. It's not hard to learn if you put your mind to it, I guess."

He shrugged a little, "What other talents? I wonder."

He laughed. He's not talking about his thieving ways and other things he learned along the way. That's probably left in the dark for its own good.

"There's nothing interesting about me to talk about anyway," he replied shrugging at her comment. He chuckled at her next comment, "It's not like it's going to do you any good knowing them right?"

Really, he's not tight lipped, rather he just didn't feel like it was necessary to talk about these things. He'd always been moving forward on his own and leaving things like his past behind, though of course, he learned a lot of things from his past that he wouldn't dream of forgetting. There was also the men that inspired him to be what he is today. He couldn't possibly drop that thought at all.

Rukia was right, Yuri wasn't interested in dating or any of those little things. What Raven and Rukia did on their spare time was theirs alone. He didn't need to hear the fluffy details to be honest.

"Sounds like you had a pretty nice life. It makes sense. There's nothing wrong with it."

He shrugged a little whens he continued to talk about making meals and such things like that.

"Yeah sounds about right. You seem really interested in cooking and all. Are you learning or something?" he mused giving he a raised brow as they were continuing their conversation.

"Oh yeah? What gave me away?" he replied with a smug look on his face. He wasn't going to say anything about what he did or didn't do. That was the whole reason why Flynn took most of the credit. Yuri didn't care since he did what he needed to do. He didn't need a reward for it, even if he sarcastically talked about it like he wanted some compensation.

He shrugged, "You're still living in a sense, dead or not," he replied dismissively at her comment. He didn't really see what the difference was. She was living in some form or way or did she prefer existing? That sounded way too dull. Yuri could understand where she was coming from when she said those words, "Well, you did well, I suppose. They sure didn't rub off on you."

He replied trying to at least sound sincere. She had a family. That was what's important. Yuri didn't have one and he was grateful that Flynn's dad had treated him like he was part of the family. Flynn in some ways was like a brother to him, and that's all that really mattered.

Yuri followed in first since she offered, "That sounds about right. You should enjoy the time you spend on whatever you do. You only live ones right?"

[personal profile] dammit_flynn 2015-12-26 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah I can understand what you mean, but hey you're still moving around doing things. I'm pretty sure it's one way of being alive or feeling alive if you want to go that route."

He replied with a smug look on his face. Yuri took one of the menus from Rukia as she picked them up. It was definitely unfortunate that she had died as an infant, but Yuri saw her current existence as something much more than that. She was a bold and strong woman. He appreciated that about her and it was rare to come across headstrong people these days. He was also appreciative that she wasn't shoving her ideals down his throat or telling him that he did bad things.

"Why not? I don't see anything wrong with wanting to indulge," he shrugged. Whether she was here temporarily or permanently he believed that everyone deserved a fulfilling life to some extent. Not that he hadn't taken his share of lives either. He honestly couldn't say that he appreciated A Grade assholes that didn't do anything to help their people. Those kinds of people could rot for all he cared. He watched one sink into their death after all.

Yuri ordered some basic things from the menu when he caught a waiter and gave them the menu while he waited for Rukia to make her choices. Honestly, there were so many things to experience. While this place made him uneasy and bitter, he still did what he wanted to the fullest. He never let himself be tied down by anything and sometimes it could get him into some deep shit, but Yuri was like the wind. He kept going and wherever he ended up, he didn't care.

"Heh, not a lot of folks can say that, but good to know."

[personal profile] dammit_flynn 2015-12-29 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Rukia better be careful since for those little things, Yuri will notice and she might have surprises waiting for her when they spend more time together, like him making amazing omelettes for example. Of course, Yuri won't tell her about that. It's easier for her to figure it out when it happens. He kind of likes making people baffled at times.

"Strong bonds transcend time and space. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my friends and selfishly hanging onto my beliefs. Not saying that you have to do that, but you don't got to be so stiff about it, Shorty."

He replied with a brief laugh. Once they were done ordering, he hands the waiter the menus. There are but Yuri doesn't care about them if Rukia can see by how he reacts to the situation. However, he does put it into consideration. He just won't follow it.

"Getting on?" he raised a brow before continuing, "Yeah, figured it might be useful if there are ghost types roaming around. Can't hurt to be safe. How about yourself?" he mused towards her as he took a glass of water.

He'd make her all kinds of omelets to be honest. He's pretty good at making things like that. They were easy and usually not difficult to get access to. Yuri shakes his head some, but he can understand where she's coming from with her wording. He's not really convinced that she has to hold back, but he'll respect her wishes and leave it at that.

He's not here to change people's beliefs.

"You do what you gotta do, but it's not wrong to enjoy the time you have, even if you got to put some things on hold."

Yuri added briefly with a shrug. That made sense though, that she would think that it was similar to the job that she did in her own world. It probably gave her a sense of peace. Much like Yuri's classes definitely defined him as a person.

"I don't blame ya. It's hard to adjust to something completely new."

Rukia was a smart individual. Yuri could deduct that much. He knew she wouldn't overstep her boundaries or the rules she followed. It's not necessarily a bad thing. He was only stating that she didn't have to hold herself back in such a manner. However, whatever she did was her choice.

Yuri didn't care for pushing his beliefs onto others. He knew his way of thinking was just a tad bit different and almost much darker than most people. He's not going to press for others to go with what he wants. They choose to if they want to and they don't have to watch it happen. He won't even mind if he lost friendships over it. It's just that kind of life he's always led.

"Attached to this place? You kidding me? It's restrictive and annoying. This place demands you do what it wants, and I'm not that kind of team player. I'd rather be saving my world with my own abilities to be honest. Not here pretending to play some Hero Game for the sake of my world. It's the only reason I'm really going along with this."
dammit_flynn: starryheavens (→ yeah whatever right)

[personal profile] dammit_flynn 2016-01-16 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
It was true since that's what he always believed. No one had really steer his view in any way so far. He's quite a hard egg to crack to be honest. He nodded to her words since he had already stated where he stood on that matter. It is frustrating, thus it was easier for Yuri to behave the way he always did without caring what the world thought.

He wasn't a hero and he would never admit to being one even if he played that role. Yuri was just that kind of person and he would never change.

"Only because there's a reason for me wanting to fight. On top of that, we can't leave folks here to suffer either. I'd wish they'd at least ask before choosing to be honest," he sighed at her words and shook his head, "Well that's one way to put it. I'm doing it to save the other worlds from being screwed over, including mine."

"Riight, Hero."

He replied with a basic laugh for her sly smirk. Of course he was going to get used to some of her comebacks seeing that Rukia was definitely different from what he's been used too. However, he was similar to some of his friends at home, which was why it was easy to get along with her.

Yuri waved goodbye to her when she paid the bill, not questioning it for the matter. If she wanted to pay that's on her.

With that he leaves and hopefully he'll see her around some more.
