Sephiroth (Prior Boss-Battle)
She can tell right away that something is wrong. But what could have happened to him? What is he trying to do? When she finds her voice, it comes out hesitantly. And still ever so slightly hopeful.]
S- Sephiroth?
Sephiroth (Prior Boss-Battle)
[At first it's Zelda that draws his attention, her unmistakable voice from the group of Heroes preceding her breaking away from them. His mako-tinted green eyes are as vivid as they were before he died, looking down at the blonde and then across to Ib as she too came over.
He knows these two, something akin to instinct tells him, yet there is something in the hollow way he holds his expression that tells them that friendships now won't make a difference. They have all been mistaken, and there is only one way to fix it for them.]
It's like Yeul said, we all have to gather together, to prevent a great catastrophe. It will all become clearer, once the ceremony is completed.
Sephiroth (Prior Boss-Battle)
Tell us what is going on then? What is this ceremony?
We can help you.
[Zelda's tone is firm while still keeping its soft, sweet pitch. She is tired of the questions and she hopes that someone would be able to answer her. Her eyes look at the scene behind Sephiroth and her worry only grew.]

But he's still her friend, so she can't turn away. Zelda being there also helps bolster her courage. After a moment of hesitation, Ib steps forward again.]
Sh- she's right! You're our friend. If you just tell us what's wrong, maybe we can... help you....
[She's still desperately and naively hoping there's a good explanation for all of this and they can settle everything peacefully.]
Please?

There is something wrong, all along there has been, and you still can't see it can you?
[Sephiroth turns himself back towards facing the two girls. There was another who had meandered over in the meantime; quite an audience all of a sudden and it only made the fact he was right and proud of it even more obvious. He straightened his shoulders and stood up straighter as his pride swelled.
Surely the others should have explained all of this to them, but it's so close now. Perhaps they were worth knowing the real reason before they all died for it.]
You have all been taken for fools. As puppets in a great pantomime that you were told is real.

[Her voice is soft as she tries to push down the dread rising in her throat. That stare only fuels her words as she takes a step closer to her friend. They share a bound and it is something that can't be measured by words. She only wishes that he would believe in those who care about him.]
If we question everything, when do we stop? At least trust in us. Together we are unstoppable.
[Zelda looks down at Ib and then back up at Sephiroth with a gentle smile.]
Trust in us.

[He sounds genuine enough, if very much with a darker tone than he's generally known for, and is rather quite proud of the support that Zelda and Ib are so keenly offering him.]
And once this is done, I will shatter all of the illusions that have been spun, the lie that brought us all here, and finally everything will be as it is supposed to be.

Mid explanation, Luffy arrived after running what seemed like the worst marathon of his life. He'd been feeling worn down, torn apart, stretched from every angle as his energy felt diminished and depleted. The elixir he'd been given seemed to be helping somewhat, but the exhaustion is still there to some extent.
Seeing two familiar faces, and one rather imposing demeanor, Luffy stopped in his tracks to call out to the three so obviously wrapped up in conversation.
"Hey! Where are the other moogles?! They said back in town that we've got to stop the moogles from doing something!"
no subject
[And something is wrong here. She's not sure what exactly, but she can feel that something isn't right. Luffy's arrival is a pleasant surprise though. She hasn't been able to keep up with what's going on since she got sick, so it's good to know that he's okay.]
Luffy! You came to help too?
(so sorry for lateness!)
Sephiroth narrows eyes at the small pirate then.]
There will be no stopping what we have put in place here.
[Then sweeps his gaze about the group once more.]
This ritual will reveal all. But know, all of what you have been told so far has been a lie. Our apparent legend, the mystery behind the crystals, all of it. Has all been expertly weaved together to direct us towards the most evil of ends.

[She wants to be the voice of reason but that sinking feeling in her heart only continued to increase as time went on. Zelda doesn't know what it could mean but she wanted to believe.
She takes a deep breath and looks up with a determined stare.]
Please Sephiroth. Can you at least tell us more?
no subject
[Really, he couldn't sound more bored in having to explain it like it's the most simplest concept and Zelda is much too naive to get it. It's almost out of character for the always-polite, perfect-SOLDIER who would usually keep his opinions to himself and try not to be so judgmental.]
Biggs. Jessie. Wedge. Even they are pawns in the bigger picture. How can you not see how the crystals have stripped you all back, brought you all to heel?

[Confused, lost, and torn over what it is that he should be doing, the aspiring pirate at least knows that the most important thing right now is the safety of his friends. He knew that several of his friends were capable of handling things where they were needed, yet he hadn't seen Ramza or Ib for some time. Bumping into Ib must have been by luck, and it's a chance he won't pass up.
It doesn't take a genius to realize that the man standing before the two women has a hand in what has been happening. Their chance meeting all those weeks ago, bumping into one another, had been a fated meeting of sorts. Normally, Luffy would jump in without so much as a second guess. With the fate of the kingdom at stake, and with the prospect of those he cares for being hurt, a bit of conversation was needed.]
It's you-! What are you doing to Ib-chan and Zelda?! Are you the reason why everyone in town is going crazy?!
no subject
He hasn't hurt anyone.
[She faces Sephiroth fully though her shoulders are tense. This feels all wrong but how can she make him see that.]
I trust you but you need to trust us too. We can do this together.
[Zelda holds out her hand to him with her chin held high.]
no subject
I don't know! We came here to try to help the moogles and find a cure for everyone but.... but something weird is going on.
[She honestly has no idea. But Sephiroth seems to, so she turns back to him.]
Why would they lie to us? What's the ritual?
[Zelda isn't the only one with a sinking feeling. Ib can feel this all slipping out of their control, and fast.]
no subject
He has a chance to turn heavy-lashed eyes down at Zelda's outstretched hand, inspecting it for a moment before raising his gaze to her face with a slightly abhorrent tone to his demeanor. Then turns to Ib as again they ask more questions. His patience is wearing thin; why didn't they understand? Were they all so dense as to be problematic? Would he have to make sure they didn't interfere? Or just to stop the questions which had the answers they simply couldn't comprehend?]
The ritual will put all things to rights. As they should have been thousands of years ago. You need to trust me, stay back, and do not interfere with this.
no subject
I'm sorry. I can't do that.
[It sounds to easy. She has seen what happens when darkness takes hold. Its hard to tell the truth from fiction and no matter how much you wish for something to be false; it has to be faced. She doesn't want to run away anymore. Her chest tightens as her mind wanders on thoughts of her sleeping tomb waiting for her in her own world.]
I can't do nothing.

If he were a sage at any one thing, Luffy would gloat that he could tell when some one was genuine and of truly good intention. The women standing before him exemplified the sort of compassion and camaraderie that this city needed in order to survive, and if their position in this confusing exchange was is that of trying to stop Sephiroth? He would gladly stand beside them.
When he looks again to the silver-haired gentleman, Luffy feels the air go still. There's a coolness in the air that's unnatural, and it's a feeling he's felt numerous times before. The taste of blood, the grief and gloom of despair, the telltale signs that death was soon approaching.
Swishing a hand and motioning for her to retreat, Luffy calls to Zelda as well as Ib as his heart begins to race with worry.]
Zel-chan! Get away from him!
