Re: ??????????????
And as the voices filter through the noises of battle she recognizes where they are as well. She can't be sure, but she feels in her heart that this is England. Possibly even London.
As Jack speaks she turns to him, and the connection between this world and his garb quickly becomes apparent to her. Something to ask him about later, surely. Regardless, she sees no reason not to follow his orders now and gets in line with the others moving along. She pulls up her hood as she goes, with the faint hope that if there are any Assassins in this world they may recognize one of their own.]
Re: ??????????????
He's not leaving those wounded behind, though. Some of those soldiers are younger than he is, practically kids. What kind of asshole leaves scared, hurt kids like that? Santa ignores the line and sprints over to the truck to help the medics get the injured soldiers out of the truck.
Between his silver hair and his time mage jacket, he probably stands out more than the Heroes want, but who gives a crap about that?]

He makes his way over to Jack, so he can speak as lowly as he can over all of the noise.]
You seem far too used to this. Are we in your world...?
no subject
... Listen to him, he seems to know what he is talking about.
[ With that said she discreetly headed toward the line; tilting her hat down. ]

But should they follow to the air-raid shelter, the line will take them into the school, which had been re-purposed as a Hospital. The natives are all heading for the school’s basement, which is what they’re using as shelter apparently. On their way there, they might see former classrooms that have been refitted to host the wounded and sick— All doors are open since no one has time to close them in the emergency. Some of the smaller classrooms have also been re-purposed as offices for the doctors working there, with basic nameplates on the doors: ]
Dr A. Ratya
Dr E. Brown
Dr F. Hound
Dr V. Sumati
Dr G. House
Dr D. Duck
[ Still, even though there is no bombing nor any planes in sight, it might be best to head for the shelter. Right? ]

A pause. "Uh. And if you see a kid wandering around on his own wearing a gas mask? Run. Just. Trust me on that one." He knows that sounds cruel, but there is a very unsettled tone to his voice.
Jack pauses at the office doors. What could this mean? On the plus side, none of them read "Dr. Constantine" or "John Smith" which would be the giveaway that they are in Jack's world. He speaks up again, raises his voice, since he's less likely to be questioned than the others. "Clear out these rooms! Air raid means everybody!" Putting on the act as if annoyed at doctors and scientists for thinking their work is more important than their safety.

Her eyes follow his, noting the nameplates. There's something about the names that do feel a bit off. Some familiar, and others just give her a feeling. She follows Jack's lead, moving down the hall and slightly leaning into each room, ostensibly to knock on the doors and make sure they're clear, but also to take a quick peek inside for anything overtly suspicious. There HAS to be a reason they're here after all.]
Come on now. Time to get movin'.

It was time to put his training at Esdham to good use. As soon as the siren had started, the silver-haired man in the 1st-class black uniform -albeit with a cracked silver pauldron- went immediately forward to the trucks, following not so far behind Santa. The very least he could do is lend his enhanced strength to help get someone to safety.
He'd be slower, on account of the young lad with the strapped up leg that he was helping to haul down the corridor but as long as they didn't fall too far behind the crowd. Sephiroth's strength and agility is ample enough for the task, only he didn't want to cause further injury. Who knows where Spencer went, though?
Still, there is time to eye those nameplates as they head on the way to the basement. Occasionally having to stop to re-balance in the event that someone barged passed them.]

Did we get all the wounded guys? [And here's hoping the Crystal's translating powers hold up, because the language he speaks natively is Japanese.]
no subject
"E. Brown"? "G. House"? "D. Duck"?
I have a feeling that there's something decidedly screwy here. And it's not me.
no subject
[He answers Santa as they both continue to help their wounded charges down the corridor. Sephiroth readjusts his balance as the wounded boy -even though they are much older than when he was when first put to war- shifts his weight upon realizing that the long silver haired man is a lot stronger than he looks. Custom job for the win, yet it's clear that this is not an all-win situation.]
-we don't know if there'll be time for a second trip.
[At least the auto-translate of the Crystal still works. But whether or not the soldiers they are helping, or the civilians around them, can understand Santa might be another thing though...]
no subject
But she knows they're in danger the longer they stay, even if she's not quite sure from what. Those sirens can't mean anything good.]
Ja-Captain Harkness...how long do we have?
no subject
"The amount of time we have before we get noticed by those same military people is a lot less though. I can try to sell this and keep you all from getting arrested, as long as most of you aren't walking around with visible weapons. Either hide what you've got or hand it over to me, Sephiroth, or Kurashiki," Jack nods towards Santa. "Anybody asks, you two are civilian contractors, refer them to me."
Jack glances at Parasraya, and amends his statement. "Except you, keep your weapon, you should be fine." Civilian, they might not even see her as odd. Ed might pass for a doctor, Kidd as another civilian.
Jack frowns a little again at Sephiroth. His manner will pass, but... "Can you do something about that hair? No way I can pass you off as military for this world like that."
"So far as I see it, my job is to keep attention off of you and keep you from getting arrested long enough for you to do what you need."
no subject
It seemed that Jack had been quick to take point, but the thought did occur with regards to how exactly he'd be handling others' weapons being suddenly passed to him. Kinda had his hands full already.
The same could be said for 'doing something' about his hair. Where the -rather dirty, currently- long silver mane was still tied up high it was out of his face, yet indeed the length of said tail had undoubtedly already drawn a few eyebrows as they'd progressed from the truck outside and into the school. Thankfully, Sephiroth's passenger who still managed to cling across the back of his shoulders didn't seem to be in much of a state to comprehend what Jack had just been addressing.
The look that Sephiroth delivered to the Captain, while pausing to quickly glance down between himself and the wounded man essentially hanging against his side, told both of irritation but also the fact there were for sure larger things to be concerned with than his hair, of all things. He didn't want to consider exactly what Jack might be thinking...
None of this was comfortable by any means but then now really wasn't the time to be-
"How about we just get the job done...-sir?" He forced himself to add that title on the end, having cottoned on to the plan as he'd come closer to the group.
no subject
"If-- If we just lay low in the crowds, no one will even notice us and we should be fine. Just do what we're told and we won't gain any extra attention in this chaos."
He looks to Jack. "If anyone asks, you're just an officer trying to get us to where we need to go. Right? It's just going to be hard knowing what we need to do here if all we can do is huddle in the basement and hope we don't get bombed out of existence."
no subject
"Unless this world decides to be generous and drop the clue into our laps, that is. Wait, weren't some of the shelters used actually subway stations? We could try to use the tunnels to get around."
Luckily for Saori, blending into a crowd was part of the Assassin job. She had her hood off for the moment though, just to be safe since surely a hooded figure could possibly draw attention.

Besides this soldier, they would find the shelter filled with people—Lots of medical personnel, soldiers and even some children. Many of these people looked worried and scared, but as many looked as though this was an usual occurrence for them, just a bad moment to go through. Amongst the cacophony of voices, they could hear a little boy crying, while most others tried to keep silent.
“I-I don’t want to die…”
A feminine voice replied to him—Who strangely enough would sound familiar to many of the Heroes of Light.
“No one here will die.”
“But… This is so sca-scar-…”
“Last week, you told me you wish you had died with your parents. What brought this change?”
“I-I don’t know… I still… I-I…”
“I’m proud of you. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been. You’re very brave.”
The little boy’s voice went silent after that, though he could still be heard whining and crying a bit.

It's up to the other Heroes to find out what doesn't belong here. It's up to Jack to make the rest of the world think that they do belong here. He approaches the perimeter guard, glances at his rank insignia, pauses for the lower-ranking soldier to salute first.
"Captain Jack Harkness, Royal Air Force, American volunteer with the 133, but I got separated from my unit. I'm trying to make my way back to the blockade, what's the situation here? Who is your commanding officer?"
no subject
It's decidedly a new experience, finding himself on this side of the conflict and taking in the unsettling scenery he's only ever seen in passing. Embracing the unknown requires a certain sort of bravery, so it doesn't surprise him to see so many civilians giving in to the tension of the moment. While one might grow accepting of the situation, nobody chooses to live in a war-torn world.
The woman's voice retracts the cadet from his thoughts, causing him to shift and crane up his neck in an attempt to find its source. Gentle and reassuring, it reminds him of the tone his mother used when he and his siblings were little, and not any less frightened than the child who is now spilling his tears. His attention is drawn to the pair, and he's unable to tear his gaze away even as the boy regains his composure. Is it...?

The wounded soldiers are being taken care of by the medical staff, and Santa isn't supposed to go back up and look for anyone else, so he wanders closer to the crying kid. He doesn't give a shit about the lady talking to him. Adults are always willing to rattle off platitudes without actually helping. But the kid...he knows what it's like. He wants to help him out, but he doesn't have any money or anything that isn't super weird or anachronistic to give him...
"Hey. Kid. I bet a lotta kids here have lost somebody. So, like, you're not alone. You wanna know how you get through this? You gotta take care of each other."
Shit, he sounds as cheesy as the lady who was talkin' to him before. But the kid'll do better if he gets other kids watchin' his back, and if he finds someone to protect and make him braver. It's better than waiting on some adult to swoop in and save him.

Beyond caring for Jack’s situation though, it is evident the soldier got his attention elsewhere.
“Who are these?”
The soldier’s eyes are fixed on Sephiroth and Deadpool in particular as he asks this question. Is he supposed to believe they are Americans? Sephiroth might just have particular hair and he’s ready to accept that, but the other one… Disguised like this he could be anyone—Like a German spy. Or something. Imagination runs wild pretty quickly in these kind of situations. In the meantime the little boy looked up as Santa addressed him. The woman was still holding his hand, but he looked down, apparently pondering on what Santa had just told him.
“B-But I-I…”
The kid didn’t seem to know what to reply to Santa’s words and the woman who was holding the kid’s hand turned her stare to Santa, both with a smile and a raised eyebrow. She was quick to turn her attention back to the kid however.
“Come, I’ll take you where the others are.”
With that said, she led the crying boy to the room where most other children were staying.

"Seph there, civilian contractor, but he's helping me keep an eye on him, since I've got nobody else."
Jack looks around the room. "Most everybody else was civilians we picked up on the way."
He pitches his voice a little lower for the soldier, "The younger guy with the bleached hair, Kurashiki. He's a high-value asset, communications translator. I really need to get him back to safety, too. Anybody know if this area connects to the Underground, or are we here for the duration?"

This Colonel Jackson fixed as an important detail, something they might have to see to themselves if they were to get her cooperation, that is if that's what they wanted. She opted to follow her own instinct first and trailed the woman as subtly as she could, huddling against herself and playing the role of a shellshocked civilian. She wanted to hope there was no wrongdoing here, or that she wasn't trying to flee them in this moment, but hope wasn't enough. Catching Saori's eye she gave her fellow Assassin a nod and drifted into the crowd. She'd catch up with Jack when she was sure of who it was they were seeing here.
(ooc: I guarantee you that the people in the library in the real world would be worse than the Heroes when it came to fleeing during a crisis, especially when their precious computer time is on the line)

A moment later, Sephiroth focused on the injured soldier that he was helping into the shelter -if there was the room to slip by between the guard and Jack, that is- and paused then to locate the area which had been set aside for those that needed medical attention. Santa had already made sure that his charge was in good hands, it was time for him to do the same. He helped lower the man to the place they made for him; making sure the damaged leg wasn't bashed unnecessarily before stepping back so that he wouldn't get in the way. Taking a long moment to survey how the shelter had been arranged, and the types of people who were down here with them.
He caught only a glance at the owner of the familiar voice, though, as she walked away with the small boy towards an area which had been set aside as a children's area. Quickly, but discreetly Sephiroth flicked his eyes around, locating others -such as Kidd, Saori, who were already steps ahead. Though-
-they didn't need for this to turn into an assassination. That woman was as a part of this time as were all the other civilians around. If only he could somehow make that known, without uttering a word.

"Oh, c'mon, you guys can't seriously still be mad over that, are ya?" he said in annoyance. "Jeez, I'm sorry. There, you happy?"
He crosses his arms and sulks.
"Stupid Dr. Who wanna-be, thinks he's Captain America..."
