SAME OL SAME OL
He walked over, during the pause, holding out a hand to shake it. It was a habit he'd picked up, while in Saeng Seong. So far, it hadn't been poorly received, "It's nice to meet you, Selen."
Her compliment, though, had him blinking. A hint of sheepishness appeared as he shook his grinned, "Heh...thanks! Though, it's looking like I've got nothing on you! I'm going to assume this isn't the first world you've used a sword."
XD ah I SHEEEEE fffff <3
The former General, shook his hand firmly as he offered it to her. She had quite the grip if he noticed.
"Good to meet an energetic boy like yourself, Luke. We need more of those around," she chuckled a bit. She not that new to this place, so knowing people like him seemed rare to her. She was the type to praise what she saw was good. That's the nature of Selen.
"Yes, well we can't really compare our swordsmanship. You're still quite young, and of course. I was General in my world and I've been doing this since I could remember. It's a different atmosphere from a traveling swordsman. You're not that bad. You could use a few tips but you're pretty tough, but you are still young, so you can catch up in no time!"
Just like how Darres was a phenomenal swordsman.
She replied shrugging. Of course if Luke knew her age...
lawl ilu you silly <3
"Heh, I... guess liking to fight monsters isn't something that ever left me."
Oh, that's impressive. She was in the military, then? That would definitely explain it. She...didn't seem that old, though. Something about those words reminded him a bit of Jade, now that he thought about it. Those two would probably get along...
"Tips, huh? Think you could give me a few?" Well, it never hurts to ask.
hahahaahaaha love you too :D
"Monsters are quite easy to take care of if you detach from the fact that they're living beings. It's the same for when you have to protect yourself against other human beings, but that's a bit harder since you have to actually not be afraid to do it," she chimed. Selen slaughtered many people in her time. It's not surprising she wold say that.
Military is a good word for it. She was a former Knight General. She ran the knights like nobody's business. No, but she was, and he would be surprised if he knew. Yes, he was right on that too. If she were ever to meet his Jade person, she would fit right in.
"Well, you're a bit rough around the edges with movement. Agility is one of the keys in swift killing. It takes less time and you don't exhaust yourself. Plus, if you move fast enough, you don't have to slash the monsters with all your strength."
Selen's such a cutie;;;
Nodding to the words, he didn't seem too fazed by the first part, "Yeah... I don't have any problem killing those," he started with a soft and wry smile; people were a different story, "...Yeah. I used to struggle with hurting other people. It took a while to be able to fight them without fear."
Currently, he was able to take the lives of other people, without much hesitation; it required the situation to be dire. Selen definitely sounded a lot like a certain few he knew, from back home... He would not be surprised at her fitting right in with any of them, especially Jade.
"Agility... I've been working on that, actually. I just...can't really seem to get the hang of it. My friend, Guy's, better with that sort of thing, back home. Though, I do think my current Job Class might be helping some... I guess I just need to stop thinking like I did, back on Auldrant." He let out a soft chuckle.
The best cutie. You better love her XDDD
"Yep, they're pretty straight forward because it's survival. We have to hunt for our food too," she replied nodding her head, and then shifting herself to watch for approaching monsters. In which, there weren't. Maybe they read the aura around this area and booked it. Either way, the chat was nice to have.
"Yes, it's not an easy task. Once you kill once, it's hard to really be fazed by it, but that in itself is survival. You gotta live for what you want, and sometimes it means carving out what's in your way," she replied nodding to his comments. She looked off for a moment before continuing. Hesitation is natural. Selen wouldn't judge anyone that felt that it was wrong to kill other human beings, because it is. Yet, survival is always the key. You have to fight to survive. Selen knew that. Sometimes, it's hard to hold back. She would fit like a glove!
"Well, comparing yourself to others isn't going to help you improve. You just have to believe you can do it. I'm not saying you're not capable. You're plenty capable, but we have to make sure you get rid of the hiccups along the way," she chuckled, "I'm not sure how your mind works where your came from, kiddo, but you should always have confidence in yourself. Don't hold yourself back."
I dooooo
But some might understand how scary that would be for a seven-year-old, right? Especially one who'd been locked away in a manor, his entire life. Selen's next words had him blinking, before letting out a soft chuckle. She definitely was smart... that was for sure. Letting a smile linger, he nodded once more, "You're right... If I always try learning under someone's shadow, I'll be no better than their puppet..."
Suddenly, there was a bit of tension in his voice. That brought up way more emotions than he'd intended. After a short pause to clear his throat, he spoke back up, "I just...want to get stronger, honestly. Strong enough to protect these people... especially those I care most about, in this world. As well as...whatever other worlds I wind up on. Even if I have new abilities, I intend to strengthen them as much as I possibly can."
hhhhahahaaha XD awww you cutie Luke :x
It's quite understandable honestly, on any level. Most people never grew up in an environment in which they had to do things like that. Selen didn't have luxury. The carnage followed her wherever she went. Selen was much older, so it was natural, but Luke was a smart boy. She could tell from the conversation she was having with him at the moment.
"Yep. You just gotta beat yourself, rather than your friend. I'm sure you'll be able to surpass many people. You're young and kicking, unlike us older folks, where we'll probably lose our kick soon," she chimed with a big encouraging tone.
Selen's expression softened at the change of his tone, much more serious than she anticipated.
"You can't protect everyone, but the idea that you want to protect those around you is very noble. I know a boy just like you-- except he's a bit more of a pushover. If that's how you honestly think, then allow yourself to get stronger. I'm quite sure you'll be able to take the world on if you keep that mindset. Don't let go of those you are close to~"
"I think you're a very strong child. I'm not quite sure what it is, but something tells me you're talking from experience, and most kids your age don't even understand something like this," she replied ruffling his hair as a form of comfort, "So I'm quite sure you're halfway there. Let this old general help you if you need it," she added, smiling again. He offer was honest. She might not have known him for that long-- which was only a couple of minutes or so... since they started fighting, but Selen easily took to those who had strong conviction.
he definitely can be~ /huffs at him
Very slowly, his smile grew into a faint grin, "Of course... I'd never let go of them, if I...can help it."
There was just a hint of strain in that very last part, because he knew all too well how Crystallis worked. There would be moments when it wasn't within his means to keep them close. There would be moments when he would be the one to slip out of their grasp. It was a cold, hard fact... a painful one... and he knew there was no changing harsh reality. Which could very well be where she got the impression he might be a boy with many troubled thoughts...
...because he was. Though, the hair ruffling snapped him from some. A blink was given as he momentarily gave her a softened look of surprise. That wasn't something people did to him... but it felt kind of like something a family member would do. So, while it was odd, it was odd in a nice sort of way...
"Experience, huh...? Heh... maybe," he offered in a quiet voice (which was all he'd say, for now), "I don't mind the help, though... and I'll do the same for you, whenever you need it."
/pets him more.XD he is the cutest :x
"Good to hear."
She replied nodding her head at his words. She could hear it, but she didn't comment on it. She hadn't been here long enough to feel those feelings, and even then, she was not as affected. In more ways than one, she was quite a cold person. At least, that's how Selen saw it. She had seen things here and there, but allowed nothing to sway her. Sometimes, she felt she might have lacked a bit of humanity. Reality was a hard thing to grasp. That's quite understandable.
Selen didn't stop for a while, though. It seemed like he needed something like that. A hair ruffle made more sense other than hugging him. They were strangers after all. She chuckled at his softened surprised look. He can think like that since she had more or less taken a liking to him.
"Experience is always... a bit rough around the edges, but you have it to back you up at least," she replied, her tone was a soft and gentle, "but that is what it is, and hehehe, if you're not opposed to it, I will hope to rely on your expertise, Luke." she chimed, "After all, I do have questions about many things here still."
She hadn't been around long enough to know as much as some people, "Now, looks like we chatted up a storm. We should head to the next location and see if any of the civilians are left behind," she replied honestly and paused before adding, "Want to race there?"
he would tsun at that :V
While he was listening to her words, quietly, his expression seemed to brighten a little. She made a good point - having experience to back him up, made his words more valid. A quiet chuckle escaped, briefly, and then he was nodding, "You're right... I've told some people that I wouldn't trade the things I've been through, since they're the reason I am who I am, today. Someone I wouldn't trade for anything, because I'd rather be me...than anyone else."
There was a soft blink as he gave a quick nod and stepped forward. They had spent a while talking, so it might be best to get a move on. The last question, however, had him appearing...confused. Race there? That was...a first, though it wasn't something he'd never done before. More recently, it had always been a serious thing, though... but...
"Okay!" Uh...there was a lot more excitement in his tone, than he'd meant to let slip, "Let's go!" And, as soon as she was ready to, he'd take off.
XD ahahaha okay tsun face cutie XD
"Exactly. You're you, so be you. Don't let anything make you think otherwise. To have strong conviction is hard. You've got a huge head on your shoulders, kiddo. Keep carrying it without hesitation," she mused smirking at him.
Well, why seriously take care of monsters when you can have fun while you're doing it? She'll definitely make sure it is fun for the both of them.
"Perfect, we'll race to the end of the city. Last one to get there, well you have to cook something edible! Make sure you count your monsters too!"
Welp, Luke, she sure hopes you're ready to have fun with her! When she's ready, she dashes off in a direction they needed to go next.
NOT TSUN JUST... ...okay a little tsun...
She could very well be correct; the guy did have a good head on his shoulders. Luke had a lot of good friends, during his journey - they all taught him well.
Cooking, huh? Luke didn't have a problem with the challenge at all. If anything, he'd come to enjoy cooking as much as he enjoyed taking out monsters and...well...competing. She would get to see an entirely different side of him as he raced her. Even with his Thief class, however, he wouldn't be going overboard, since he'd already been pushing himself pretty hard earlier.
Not to say he wouldn't be giving her a run for her money...
A little?XDD you mean a lot~ :D
"Yes, that's a thought to keep. If you're will and heart are stronger, you'll persevere right?" she chimed as she they were tearing down the path taking out the monsters. He sounded it to her at least.
Good, then a little competition will get the adrenaline going~ That's good, Selen wanted to see what he could do when challenged. They'll just keep at it until someone wins of course. That meant if both of them tire out or if there are no more monsters to beat up.
She's totally okay with that. If anything, she enjoys making meals herself.
xDDD maaaybe... though his biggest tsun days were with that fabulous hair
"Exactly!" He said, after taking down another monster.
Luke would put even more internal and physical strength, alike, into his efforts; once being challenged, he took it far-too serious. No amount of traveling between worlds could take that part of him away. The redhead was going to continue slicing down each monster they came across, until there were none. It was thanks to the brief rest he'd just had that he was able to do so; not to mention, he'd become used to pushing himself back when they were following after Van...
XDD yesss true true it's tone down quite a bit! :D but yesss
"My such a rough house you are," she chimed, continuing to play the game as well. It was quite fun when you turn something rather serious into something interesting. Eventually, they reached the end of the monsters, and Selen swiped the air to get the monster goo off her sword. She smiled at him and waited for him to recover as well. She felt that she was a bit out of shape though.
The age certainly got to you.~
it almost makes me miss playing the brat version... lmao
Not to mention, he'd taught himself how to not think about it...
There was a lingering grin as he turned towards her, also a little out of breath. Something about the game had...actually managed to cheer him up quite a bit. It was nice, to say the least, "Heh... I could say the same about you!"
He was going to pause to stretch after mimicking her movements to rid his weapon of the substance, and then sheathing his blade, "So, how many did you get?"
I miss it from time to time and then remember that he would drive me nuts XD;
She didn't seem out of breath at all, even though her chest was heaving up and down in some way. She seemed to have had some sweat dripping down her face, but other than that not too bad.
"60 or so," she replied counting her fingers playfully, "Yourself, Luke?" she chimed turning to him as she stretched her arms a bit. That was a work out. She rather liked the burn that it gave her. It pumped the adrenaline in her.
gah same here... 8|||
For him, there wasn't really any sweat dripping down his face; he'd been training with Gaara since day one. So, while there was some on his face, it hadn't reached that point just yet. His being a tiny bit out of breath was going to gradually diminish as he continued stretching. A soft blink as he heard her number was given.
"I think we got almost the same amount, then. I got close to around 65, but," and then he was quickly following up with, "...that's probably only because some of mine were grouped together towards the end!"
hahaahahah yeah indeed hurgh
Young ones are lucky aren't they? They also adjust a lot better than the older people and yes it seemed like Luke was the hard working type. She's not surprised. Selen needed to get where Luke was at the moment, but it was going to take some time since she still had a lot to handle on her skills.
"That's pretty closer~" she chuckled cheerfully. Well, he certainly was the type to take challenges seriously. She didn't mind though. It was harmless.
"It doesn't matter now does it? You seem to have beaten me by a few little buggers ~ It's fair game."
She chime cheerfully, "Now you'll just have to tell me what you like to eat so I can make it. All this fighting is making me hungry."

Of course! In all honesty, that was the first time he'd been given a fun challenge... and it had managed to lift his spirits. At least he wasn't the type to rub anything in anyone's face... or unnecessarily brag. If anything, he admired her all the more, in spite of who won what. She was still someone he wanted to learn from.
"I just got lucky!" In spite of the laugh, he was being completely serious; he didn't think that small competition was enough to really tell their skills, "Uh... I'm sure I'd be happy with whatever you made!"
He'd learned how to not be picky.

Selen needed to change that if it's really his first fun challenge. She always came up with silly games in order to entertain those around her. The world was already a hard place to live in, so why not make the best of it? She was pretty optimistic about everything, though it sometimes might not always work in her favour. She tried, however. Luke was a precious boy, and she looked forward to engaging with him even more in the future.
"Don't be silly, whatever the circumstances, you still won," she chuckled at him, "Oh-- but there's too many things in the world to make!"
She chimed, "You must have something you miss eating!"

Luke returned the chuckle, though his was missing a little something -- for the most part, it just sounded tired. Not quite in the physical way, but... more or less the emotional way. His smile matched, though... grew a little at her words, before turning sheepish.
Scratching at the back of his head, he glanced to the side and appeared to be thinking, "W-well, I... uh... Do you know how to fry chicken?"
It was almost embarrassing how simple a meal it was that he'd come to miss; he'd been so focused on trying to figure out all the things Gaara liked, lately, that he'd found himself missing his old favorites. But it was also because it was something so simple, that he was willing to fess up to one of his favorite dishes.

"Hmm, not sure what that means, but I can pretty much do that after a few tries," she replied chuckling. It was embarrassing so she didn't mind too much. Selen was glad that he was taking her up on the offer. She didn't mind learning how to do things like 'frying chicken,' since she would eventually figure it out.
"We can try to figure it out together if you want?" she chimed, before pushing him forward, "Now enough talk, let's get moving. I'm quite hungry!"
