That's true, though not that Selen isn't used to such things. She's rather okay with being asked outrageous questions to be honest. The female waited for him to reply and of course she tried to make the best points she could offer. She didn't think the were necessarily right or wrong. It was her opinion and if he chose to take it into consideration, then she would appreciate it and if he didn't well she wouldn't care since there's no point in condemning someone she didn't know at all.

"Exactly. You're you, so be you. Don't let anything make you think otherwise. To have strong conviction is hard. You've got a huge head on your shoulders, kiddo. Keep carrying it without hesitation," she mused smirking at him.

Well, why seriously take care of monsters when you can have fun while you're doing it? She'll definitely make sure it is fun for the both of them.

"Perfect, we'll race to the end of the city. Last one to get there, well you have to cook something edible! Make sure you count your monsters too!"

Welp, Luke, she sure hopes you're ready to have fun with her! When she's ready, she dashes off in a direction they needed to go next.

NOT TSUN JUST... ...okay a little tsun...

Her words had his smile turning sheepish as he rubbed at the back of his neck, "It...is hard. Really, one of the easiest things in the world is to let your heart waver. But, it's the difficult things that are most worth doing, in the end. It's the fight that give some things their most value..."

She could very well be correct; the guy did have a good head on his shoulders. Luke had a lot of good friends, during his journey - they all taught him well.

Cooking, huh? Luke didn't have a problem with the challenge at all. If anything, he'd come to enjoy cooking as much as he enjoyed taking out monsters and...well...competing. She would get to see an entirely different side of him as he raced her. Even with his Thief class, however, he wouldn't be going overboard, since he'd already been pushing himself pretty hard earlier.

Not to say he wouldn't be giving her a run for her money...

Selen was pleased with the smile on the kids face. Now, getting people to smile earnestly is what she does best after all. She could be a bit pestering, but it's all for the concern of others. She just doesn't know when she's overstepped her boundaries.

"Yes, that's a thought to keep. If you're will and heart are stronger, you'll persevere right?" she chimed as she they were tearing down the path taking out the monsters. He sounded it to her at least.

Good, then a little competition will get the adrenaline going~ That's good, Selen wanted to see what he could do when challenged. They'll just keep at it until someone wins of course. That meant if both of them tire out or if there are no more monsters to beat up.

She's totally okay with that. If anything, she enjoys making meals herself.

xDDD maaaybe... though his biggest tsun days were with that fabulous hair

His boundaries were a little different from what they used to be, since his whole world-hopping saga began. Where he once was easily offended, he'd kind of turned... somewhat relaxed towards. His appreciation for life had altered, once he'd felt the harsh sting of death. After seeing his very life flash before his eyes... he'd changed. So, in short, she likely wouldn't be overstepping the boundaries with him too soon, to say the least...

"Exactly!" He said, after taking down another monster.

Luke would put even more internal and physical strength, alike, into his efforts; once being challenged, he took it far-too serious. No amount of traveling between worlds could take that part of him away. The redhead was going to continue slicing down each monster they came across, until there were none. It was thanks to the brief rest he'd just had that he was able to do so; not to mention, he'd become used to pushing himself back when they were following after Van...

People change of course. It's a natural course for people to move differently from where they started. Life was a precious thing, and it's quite important that everyone valued it, and it seemed like the two of them sort of understood it on that aspect.

"My such a rough house you are," she chimed, continuing to play the game as well. It was quite fun when you turn something rather serious into something interesting. Eventually, they reached the end of the monsters, and Selen swiped the air to get the monster goo off her sword. She smiled at him and waited for him to recover as well. She felt that she was a bit out of shape though.

The age certainly got to you.~

it almost makes me miss playing the brat version... lmao

Oh, and he certainly did value life. Though... some might be surprised, were they to discover just how little he hesitated before killing his enemies -- even if they were people, now. Just how little guilt surfaced on his face, afterward. It was the result of having moved between so many worlds, as well as the fact that his own life had been close to ending far too many times. He'd learned the price of survival, many times over...

Not to mention, he'd taught himself how to not think about it...

There was a lingering grin as he turned towards her, also a little out of breath. Something about the game had...actually managed to cheer him up quite a bit. It was nice, to say the least, "Heh... I could say the same about you!"

He was going to pause to stretch after mimicking her movements to rid his weapon of the substance, and then sheathing his blade, "So, how many did you get?"

Maybe she'd be surprised, or maybe she might be intrigued by his reaction. Of course, she wouldn't know since she was talking to him for the first time. You can't judge anyone from just the first impression. All that she knew was that she liked him and he was a rather charming boy, younger than her son, but just as strong and confident, if not a little silly. Survival paid a heavy price. That's just how it was and that's how it will be.

She didn't seem out of breath at all, even though her chest was heaving up and down in some way. She seemed to have had some sweat dripping down her face, but other than that not too bad.

"60 or so," she replied counting her fingers playfully, "Yourself, Luke?" she chimed turning to him as she stretched her arms a bit. That was a work out. She rather liked the burn that it gave her. It pumped the adrenaline in her.

gah same here... 8|||

[personal profile] headfons 2015-04-14 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, you most certainly couldn't. He didn't expect her to be one of those who would feel surprised, at all. Unless of course she was just... surprised by that kind of thing in general, anyway. And he was definitely silly, at times. That was another something that hadn't disappeared, in spite of his travels.

For him, there wasn't really any sweat dripping down his face; he'd been training with Gaara since day one. So, while there was some on his face, it hadn't reached that point just yet. His being a tiny bit out of breath was going to gradually diminish as he continued stretching. A soft blink as he heard her number was given.

"I think we got almost the same amount, then. I got close to around 65, but," and then he was quickly following up with, "...that's probably only because some of mine were grouped together towards the end!"

Makes sense. It's how people like her roll. Silly is good. It makes things less awkward when there are awkward situations.

Young ones are lucky aren't they? They also adjust a lot better than the older people and yes it seemed like Luke was the hard working type. She's not surprised. Selen needed to get where Luke was at the moment, but it was going to take some time since she still had a lot to handle on her skills.

"That's pretty closer~" she chuckled cheerfully. Well, he certainly was the type to take challenges seriously. She didn't mind though. It was harmless.

"It doesn't matter now does it? You seem to have beaten me by a few little buggers ~ It's fair game."

She chime cheerfully, "Now you'll just have to tell me what you like to eat so I can make it. All this fighting is making me hungry."

[personal profile] headfons 2015-04-21 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
He wouldn't necessarily think that -- Jade was one of the strongest people in his group back home and he wasn't that old (never mind what he liked to claim...). Honestly, his need to work harder had a lot to do with his current mindset. He needed something to keep him distracted -- if he remained stagnant, his thoughts would drift too much.

Of course! In all honesty, that was the first time he'd been given a fun challenge... and it had managed to lift his spirits. At least he wasn't the type to rub anything in anyone's face... or unnecessarily brag. If anything, he admired her all the more, in spite of who won what. She was still someone he wanted to learn from.

"I just got lucky!" In spite of the laugh, he was being completely serious; he didn't think that small competition was enough to really tell their skills, "Uh... I'm sure I'd be happy with whatever you made!"

He'd learned how to not be picky.

Drifting thoughts can be harmful to one's health, especially when they have a lot of heavy burdens. It's not surprising to think that way.

Selen needed to change that if it's really his first fun challenge. She always came up with silly games in order to entertain those around her. The world was already a hard place to live in, so why not make the best of it? She was pretty optimistic about everything, though it sometimes might not always work in her favour. She tried, however. Luke was a precious boy, and she looked forward to engaging with him even more in the future.

"Don't be silly, whatever the circumstances, you still won," she chuckled at him, "Oh-- but there's too many things in the world to make!"

She chimed, "You must have something you miss eating!"

[personal profile] headfons 2015-05-21 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Her optimism could be refreshing... and perhaps even help him regain what had been lost of his.

Luke returned the chuckle, though his was missing a little something -- for the most part, it just sounded tired. Not quite in the physical way, but... more or less the emotional way. His smile matched, though... grew a little at her words, before turning sheepish.

Scratching at the back of his head, he glanced to the side and appeared to be thinking, "W-well, I... uh... Do you know how to fry chicken?"

It was almost embarrassing how simple a meal it was that he'd come to miss; he'd been so focused on trying to figure out all the things Gaara liked, lately, that he'd found himself missing his old favorites. But it was also because it was something so simple, that he was willing to fess up to one of his favorite dishes.

It's a good thing to have sometimes, really, though other times not so much. It's really situation that would determine that.

"Hmm, not sure what that means, but I can pretty much do that after a few tries," she replied chuckling. It was embarrassing so she didn't mind too much. Selen was glad that he was taking her up on the offer. She didn't mind learning how to do things like 'frying chicken,' since she would eventually figure it out.

"We can try to figure it out together if you want?" she chimed, before pushing him forward, "Now enough talk, let's get moving. I'm quite hungry!"
