Zelda gave Chiaki a nod dropping her staff next to her. She could pick it up later, for now she wanted to focus on those coming at them. It was more monsters than soldiers but Zelda cut down anyone who got close to those running. She brought her other hand to the sword swinging and shifting through the stances that she had learned so long ago at the knight academy. She had never had this sort of strength behind her swings though and she found it easy to slice through those moving towards her.

There was a brief break in the wave of monsters and soldiers making Zelda look back at the shifting crowd. It looked as if almost everyone was out besides a few stragglers running through the city. Zelda stepped back hoping to cover them.

"We need to check these homes, make sure everyone is out." She looked over at the moogle who could probably fly through the homes quicker than Chiaki and Zelda could move. "Is it alright if I ask you to do this? If you find people call to us. We can help you move them to safety."

[Mogomi is all too happy to help, giving a small twirl as she hefts the small staff Chiaki bought for her to use with her spells. Not that she needs it, but Chiaki insisted. It looks like a magical girl wand, complete with little cute wings at the top.]

You can count on me!

Be careful, Mogomi.

[Chiaki gives her moogle a proud little smile, nodding to Zelda before turning back to the crowd. Mogomi, for her part, wastes no time in darting into the nearest house.]

Zelda only hoped that they could get everyone out in time. The fire casts a eerie haze over the city and she couldn't help but feel unsettled by the strange shroud. Her fingers grip her sword tightly as she moved through the city houses. A few people went running pass her towards safety from some unknown enemy that she was determined to find.

A shrill scream caught Zelda's ear and she took off towards it. She didn't know if it was the little moogle or a family within but she rushed to try to help those shouting for help.

[Once Zelda is inside the house where the scream came from, she'll find a woman trapped underneath a collapsed ceiling beam. Mogomi is tugging at her arm, trying in vain to get her out.]

Miss Zelda! Please, help...!

She had some extra strength due to her new skills as a paladin, she only hoped that it was enough.

Zelda sheathed her sword and then lashed her staff to her side while running towards the beam. Her thin fingers gripped the bottom of the beam as she began to push it upwards. Nothing appeared to happen for awhile but after a few labored breaths the beam began to budge. "Pull her out!"

She could see the rest of the house slowly falling apart as she frantically worked.

One, two, three, kupo!

[Gathering her strength, Mogomi tugs on the woman's arm, freeing her from the beam and doing her best to help her stand.]

Follow the others outside, kupo! Hurry!

"Run Quickly." She made sure that the woman was clear before dropping the beam to the floor. Sweat dripped from her brow as she moved from the unstable building. Her breath was heavy and with each step she felt her fatigue grow. Zelda moved through the building making sure that no one was there before exiting through the front door.

"Is she clear?"

Zelda looked to the floating moogle to make sure that the woman was safely guided away before turning back towards the chaos of the city.

"Th... thank you!"

The woman is off like a shot as soon as she's clear, stopping only for that brief apology before running out into the crowd and joining the others.

"She's gone. Are you okay, kupo? Chiaki can heal you if you're feeling tired."

Zelda gave the woman a confident smile and a nod. She needed to show strength in front of those she sought to protect to instill confidence in the civilians around her. She turned back towards the fight with an intent stare before glancing over at the little moogle. Her expression softened. "I should be fine. Thank you. She should focus on healing those who get hurt in their escape."

After she spoke she turned looking for Chiaki within the chaos of the war. She hoped that even if they were separated that she would be alright.

Chiaki hasn't wandered far from where they first separated - she wants to make sure she can direct traffic efficiently and also heal everyone who needs it as they run by. It looks like she's starting to wear down a bit, though - even a white mage's magic can't last forever.

Zelda walked up next to the tired hero with a wide smile. She held out a potion and ether for the girl hoping she would accept the colorful bottles.

"Here. Keep up your strength. I'm going to continue moving. Will you be alright here by yourself?"

"Thanks."

Chiaki gladly accepts the offerings, keeping the potion in reserve for the moment but drinking the ether to replenish her magic.

"I'm fine. I can hold out for a while longer."

Zelda gave the girl a quick nod before walking off to keep the creatures she could spot at by long enough for everyone to escape.
