[Yuffie is looking for some action so when she sees Hibiki fighting with her pets she chooses to jump in and help. She doesn't really care for Hibiki's growing collection of animals but she can't stand them being hurt either. Her blade circles through the air slicing the attacker before returning to her hand as she flips down from a roof top.]

Hey! Be careful. This isn't a place for pets.

[She is sure that Hibiki can handle herself and while her words sound a little sharp she means to say: I don't want them getting hurt.

Yuffie is used to war and doesn't miss a beat as enemies move around them. She flicks her shuriken from her hand and lets it fly through the air easily catching it while keeping her eyes on her roommate.]

If you're an archer than stay further back. [She points up to a roof top which gives ample view of the surrounding area.]

They're doin' fine! They're powered up with the Beastmaster job, so I wouldn't call 'em "pets" anymore!

[And to emphasize her point, Hamuzou casts another water spell on the fires. She follows where Yuffie is pointing, though, and...

...on top of a roof?!]

Y-you can't be serious! If I'm up there, I'll be wide open, won't I? What's gonna stop everyone from seein' me!

You won't be wide open if your careful. Besides the idea is to hit things before they hit you and you don't be in the line of fire.

[Yuffie wiggles a hand in the air at Hibiki while keeping her eyes on the battle around them.]

A..alright! I'm gonna do it, because there's nothing Hibiki Ganaha can't do!

[And she's on the move to the building. Getting to the roof would be difficult, but Hibiki is light. It takes her a few seconds, but she's scaled it, and she's re-using Aim to focus on the enemies.]

Yuffie! They're tryin' to hide, but there are about three more comin' from your left!

[And while Kathy and Hamuzou can follow her...Inumi can't. So Yuffie has a dog at her side, crouching low, waiting to cast spells.]

Got it!

[Her voice rang up as she shouted before turning and throwing her blade. She doesn't need to look in order to aim and hit her targets. She trusts Hibiki to guide her and so her blade sliced through a soldier as it came spinning back to her hand. It was easy at the beginning because no one excepted Yuffie blade to come spiraling back to her.

The shurekin glints in the soft light of the fire as she runs at those approaching her. One is down but their are two left to take care of. She notes Inumi by her side and shakes her head with a smile. This is turning out to be an interesting fight.

Yuffie runs at the pair hooking her arm around the neck of one soldier and then using her momentum to kick the other to the ground. She then flips back from the one she's holding and slices across his chest sending him to the ground. The third soldier is still alive and begins to rise from the ground.]

[Her heart is beating so fast that she can feel it in her throat. It's like everything is going to explode, she thinks. How she's moving so quickly is only thanks to the Crystal, she realizes. Everything she's doing is because of the powers it gives her. That's what she tells herself.

The first thing that happens comes from Inumi. She barks loudly and then runs to the side, crouching behind an obstacle as the tell-tale signs of magic surround her. She barks a second time, releasing a Protect spell on Yuffie.

From where she's perched, Yuffie and Inumi look really impressive. Her and Kathy, they're not fighters, but here they are anyway. Yuffie will quickly learn that Hibiki can't shoot to kill, because the next two arrows hit the rising soldier in the arms that he's holding his weapon with.]

Kn-knock him out or somethin'! Hurry!

[Yuffle feels the familiar spell surround her and can’t help but smile. Hibiki doesn’t seem to be the type to get into this sort of fight; at least, not the way that Yuffie does but she is glad to know the girl has some sense. With a smirk playing across her lips she watches the soldier fall from Hibiki’s arrows. She has no interest in knocking him out and instead brings her blade across his front. The man falls dead to the ground with the others she’s taken scattered around him.

She is used to fighting and used to war. If you don’t kill them, they only come back to try and kill you later which isn’t a risk that Yuffie wants to take. She turns from the still forms and runs across the way at the next group of soldiers, kicking one in the head while her shurekin leaves her hand and circles around to slice the second. There was still three soldiers standing readying to attack the ninja princess. She fears that these waves of people are endless.]

[No.

No, this isn't what she wanted to do. She didn't want him to die. She finds herself speaking, her legs shaking...Yuffie really did that...but she fights for her country, right? That's what...people do.

She chokes back a sob, speaking words too quietly for Yuffie to hear.]

H-hey...Yuffie...

[She doesn't want people to die. For what feels like an eternity, her head feels empty. Kathy leaves her side, jumping off the roof so she can check on the soldier. Futilely, her Moogle tries to cast Cura on them, but it's too late.

She looks up, back at the action, and...]

Yuffie, I—

[And that's when a sickening sound cracks through the silence surrounding her. A gunshot. She can feel it, she can tell it hit her hair. She's being attacked. She's not just hear putting out fires. Hamuzou runs to the edge of the roof and starts casting, aiming a Watera spell at the gunner, but Hibiki's legs are frozen.

It feels a lot less like she's here to put out fires all of a sudden. She manages to fire two arrows at the soldiers attacking Yuffie, but both of them miss their mark.]

[She doesn’t notice or hear Hibiki’s cries. Her focus is on the three soldiers approaching her and the one that is slowly rising from her kick to the face. She expects Hibiki to cover her and is surprised as the arrows fly past her and clatter against the ground.

Her shuriken returns to her hand and she quickly slashes at one of the soldiers letting him fall to her feet while her foot makes contact with the one still trying to stand. She jumps back as the other two advance glancing up at the roof and then over at the soldiers to find Hibiki.

The sound of a shot being fired makes her blood run cold as she spots Hibiki sitting prone in the middle of the battle. This isn’t good. She turns ignoring the two behind her hoping to get out of their range and over to her roommate. She feels fire streak down her back as one of the soldier’s blades bit into her exposed skin. It’s what she got for wearing cloth over armor but it at least makes her quick. Her heels push her forward sending her tumbling to the ground as blood drips down her back.

She throws her shuriken at the pair hitting one as the blade rotates away and the other as it comes back. Neither are killing wounds but both soldiers are down enough that she can make her way over to Hibiki. Thanks to her moogles spell the cut along her back isn’t as deep as it could have been but she still feels it with each step as she walks towards her roommate.]

Hibiki..

Yuffie!

[That's what it takes for her to snap out of it. She's doing a horrible job of managing her beasts effectively, and that isn't helping anyone. She's done being on the roof, too, she isn't ready to be a sniper. She's telling herself she can't. She moves to the side and leaps down, landing a few feet away from Yuffie.

That's actual blood. She's...this isn't a game, what is she even supposed to say? She doesn't even look at Yuffie, she looks at Kathy and Inumi who are running to rejoin her party.]

Kathy! Cast Cura, okay? And...and...

[She feels so helpless right now. She tries to force a smile.]

It's gonna be okay! Kathy just learned the spell for curing, so...you're gonna be fine!

[Yuffie looks up at Hibiki with one hand gripping at her side. It doesn’t really help but it makes her feel better to have it there. She forces herself to smile pushing past the pain that laced up her back.]

Loser. I’m fine. It’s only a scratch. You weren’t hit were you? I heard a gunshot..

[Her voice trails off as she turns and looks behind them noting the last soldier that is rising to stand. Hibiki can see the cut down her back trailing from her shoulder down between her shoulders blades ending at her waist.

The other two soldiers are lying wounded on the ground from Yuffie’s last attack. Her back straightens despite the pain as she faces the soldier that now charged them. Her large blade is held up to protect those behind her just in case he has other targets in mind.

The soldier charges with his blade swinging down from his left side as he shouts profanities at Yuffie. She steps towards him barely dodging his blade as it slices a thin line across her cheek. Her free hand grabs at his hold and steals the sword from his grasp only to drive it down through his back and in between his ribcage piercing his heart. The body drops to the ground and Yuffie turns back towards Hibiki.]

This is a battle. If you can’t fight then leave.

[It is a harsh truth but Yuffie doesn’t want to see Hibiki get hurt or have her become a killer.]

I wasn't hit, and Hamuzou got the gunman, so...

[At least. She thinks he did. She had him cast spells at the gunman, but she doesn't have Hamuzou at her side right now. He's still on the roof. She believes in him much more than any teenage girl should ever believe in her hamster, however, and she leaves him be for the moment.

She has other things to worry about, like how the soldiers are getting back up and her hands are still too shaky. They're so close to both of them, but the arrow that Hibiki fires misses again. She has all the skills of an archer, the job is half-maxed, and she still can't hit him—

She can't watch as Yuffie finishes the battle for her, and by the time it's over she's shaking her head.]

I...I can fight, I just never knew it would be like this! It's not like fighting the monsters at all, it's...

[There's another crack that interrupts Hibiki's speech and she turns around just in time to see a gunner and two black mages step forward. Hibiki's first thought isn't about herself, it's about her hamster, and she readies another arrow.

But she's too late this time. The air around her feet starts to spin, and before she knows it she's caught in a small vortex of magic. Yuffie would recognize it as "Aero", but it catches Hibiki off guard. Not only does it lift her, but the sharp winds slice at her, bruising her, cutting her and her clothes before launching her a few feet back where she collides with the hard ground of the Colosseum. She lets out a sharp cry of pain, but she tries to quickly get back to her feet.]

HIBIKI!

[Yuffie shouts her name as the three approach them her fingers wrapping tightly around her blade as she throws it in the air towards the three gathered. It was sure to hit one of them but Yuffie plan is to distract them so that she can run over to Hibiki.

Her feet feel like bricks as she skids on her knees to grab hold of Hibiki's shoulders and help lift her from the ground.]

Hey! Your alive right?

[It hurts. Getting hit by magic hurts. It's not as bad as fire or thunder, but being launched so far...it stings, and she can't use Cura right now. Instead of responding to Yuffie as she's helped up, Hibiki yells past her. She can't fight, but she knows someone can.]

Kathy! Use your bombs!

[Her Moogle nods and then summons a box out of nowhere, one she promptly launches at the enemies. The explosion is big, adding to the distraction.]

I'm not dead, I'm... [Ugh. Being told she could die...that's still really scary, too.] ...we have to take care of them! I can't see Hamuzou, he might be wounded!

[She has a second wind, and she's already trying to step away so she can ready an arrow. No one hurts her pets!]

[Yuffie admires her determination and even hurt she can't help but smirk at the girls nerves. She steps back allowing Hibiki the room to move and faces the three in front of them. They are child's play compared to what she is used to which for the moment she is grateful for.

She brings her Shuriken from her side and swings it through the air at the first mage. Better to attack them first since she has no defense against their magic. The blade cuts into him causing the caster to fall to the ground screaming.

Yuffie runs closer and catches her blade getting ready for close combat with the other two while Hibiki readies her arrow.]

[The things she won't do when a pet is in danger...there's no limit to that. She's just grateful the crystal has given them more power so she doesn't have to worry as much.

She focuses her arrow on the gunner. As far as she can tell, he's more dangerous. Her heart is still racing, adrenaline pumping through her veins, and she hits the gun clear out of the gunner's hand before sinking a second arrow right into his chest. She avoids the heart, but there's no doubt it's going to be a nasty wound. She doesn't even stop to think about it.

The second caster is backing up, readying a second spell—it's up to Yuffie to stop him, because he's about to cast magic that'll hit the both of them.]

[Yuffie pauses at Hibiki's arrow knowing what that wound means in a fight such as this one. She kicks the man with an arrow in his chest down using him to jump into the air and swing her blade down at the last standing mage.

She flicks her blade letting the blood drip on to the stained ground. She then turns to Hibiki her expression grim.]

Should you be here?

W-what're you sayin' all of a sudden?

[Their enemies might be down for the moment, but her body is sore already just from one attack. But she's also been helping! At least, she thinks she's been helping. She knows she's been in the way, too, but her shoulders droop at that accusation.]

O-of course I should be here! I'm...supposed to be here, right?

You're not a fighter.

[Yuffie pulls the arrows from the soldiers bodies handing them back to Hibiki. Ammo is easy to run out of and she doesn't want her friend to become a sitting duck.]

There are other ways to help in a war besides fight. [Which she knew from personal experience.]

That's...that's true. But I just helped, didn't I...? It's not like I'm getting in the way all the time.

[She's stubborn. Even in the face of something like this, she doesn't want to admit that she doesn't know what she's doing. She doesn't want to watch people die, but she wants to protect her friends, too.

Why is this so hard?]

Fine. Do what you want.

[Yuffie lightly punches her shoulder as she walks by towards the raging fight.]

Just know some people worry about you.

[She turns back with a confident smile before continuing towards the Bevelle. She has seen Tifa head that way and she wanted to meet up with her old friend.]
