There were more mages to target, but Genesis was having to step out of the way of a few more warriors that were taking advantage of Sephiroth's move. He was a liability - Scholars were a weak combat class after all - but he wasn't that weak, something that a warrior found out as Genesis brought Rapier around to black a blow meant for his head. He was still out-classed. Sheer knowledge and training only took one so far in this world after all; he just did not see reason to switch over to Red Mage just for a whim.

But the moment worth of breathing room he had only gave Genesis time to snap his book closed and use it to smack the warrior across the face. And when that person yanked his sword away and tried again, he already was using another spell, this one Wind, blowing the warrior back and giving him room.

"How annoying," he muttered and casted Flare next.

As Genesis blocked an attack with his Rapier, Sephiroth ducked low in his stance and swept his legs low; taking that warrior down onto his front before butting the pommel to Masamune firmly on the back of his head. Hard enough to knock the helmet away and take the fighter out for the count. It wasn't a killing blow on it's own, but if the building went up the way they were trying to make it, there would be no escape.

Just in time to deliver a long-reaching kick out to a third warrior who came behind the one that Genesis smashed over the face with his book, then dismissed away with a strong gust of wind-magic. In another time and place Sephiroth would have chuckled heartily at that maneuver, considering his once-friends' bookworm habits, but in the midst of battle his attention was needed elsewhere.

Sephiroth followed to slash once more across the warriors path as Flare exploded again - keeping them within range of the spell.

"I should imagine so, hardly the Job one would have considered for you." He uttered as the spell earned them both a few seconds respite before the next wave charged in. Sephiroth's voice sounded noticeably croaky in that comment and was followed by a short, dry cough from beneath the helmet. Inside his armor, it had already become uncomfortable several hours beforehand but it wasn't as if they had the time to stop.

Sephiroth took two steps forwards and then executed Leap - vanishing off up and out of sight for a few seconds before landing behind the front line of enemies advancing. Masamune was swung in a smooth, full circle as he knocked that line to their fronts as well as causing the back line to recoil and have to rethink their attack pattern. The mages were just back out of sword-range-
