Summary: The long-awaited meeting with Palitutu! This post will be updated as things evolve and will lead into the main event for the second Anniversary, Revelations. According to the predictions of a certain Heroes of Light, Ultima WEAPON shall be fought during the meeting, better be prepared. Trying to avoid the meeting is a bad idea, as Palitutu mentioned she will use that very WEAPON to destroy Aqures Ixen if the Heroes feel cowardly.

[It's a good job that wielding Masamune effectively requires at least a standard six to eight feet, so that as soon as Sephiroth is ready to deliver his next attack the red glowing in the seconds before the turret's detonation gives him a second longer to jump back.

The blast radius still catches him, propelling him away from the Ultima Weapon itself, but at least the damage isn't very lethal. Not compared to Selphie who he saw land a ways away. Sephiroth is knocked to his knees for the most part and skidded along in the mud but the most damage is really to the state of his uniform.

At least being this far back for a few seconds gives him the wide-angle view that clearly indicates some ominous glowing being charged up in that core potion of the colossus before them. Alongside the physical/magical split that many of the Heroes are quick to take up in response.

The grip around his sword is tightened, and it doesn't take much to glance around for those Esdham warriors nearest his position before launching a Dash more directly for that right side and then opening with a swift flurry of chained attacks. He combines this technique with Excalibur's ending each combination but not so much as to completely exhaust his energy. Combat Mode certainly helps to draw energy out for longer but the last thing Sephiroth wants is to be flash-in-the-pan.

With any luck, those warriors should also take the cue to charge.]

[Deadpool balked as he found himself caught up in the quicksand Levy put down...]

H-Hey! Can't you see I'm chopping...

[Before that turret went off, sending him flying]

...HEEEEEERE?!

[Coming down on the ground, Deadpool couldn't help but sputter and cough.]

Haa.... not... not dead yet. Nanomachines, son. Oooookay, plan C... what's Plan C...?

[Mary grimaces as the battle goes on. While the other Heroes had done a good job of assaulting the turret, her ship hadn't gone without damage. It was still solid and could still fly, but another two hits like it had just taken and she's sure she'd have to put it down.

As she brings the ship about she observes the battlefield below. Something is changing. Not just the way the WEAPON has shifted, no, that's clear and ominous on its own, she also notes how everyone is unifying their attacks on one target or another.

She narrows her eyes as she watches, gathering the scope of it.]

Huh, is that it?

[Her ship is a small one, able to carry a fair group, but not outfitted for a big battle such as this. Still, there's enough armament on board for another pass. If only she had the heavy shot that a proper frigate could unleash.

Spinning the wheel she brings the ship around to the right side. She watches carefully, not wanting to get anyone caught in the blast. Of course, the airship moving into position is a pretty obvious signal that something is about to happen.]

Fire when clear! Make this count!

PYRRHA!

[Oh, darn it all! Ruby had been too focused on other things that she forgot Pyrrha was around! She rushed to her friend's side, throwing herself in front of her.]

Are you okay? Don't worry, I got your back!

[With that, she swapped out the energy blade for Crescent Rose. Quickly, she performed Mirage Dive using the clones to attack the right arm.]

[Selphie is still struggling to get back on her feet as she finally manages to push herself into an upright position. Every muscle in her upper body is screaming in protest as she glares hotly at the WEAPON in front of her. She's in no shape to move on her own without heavy healing but there's a power rippling inside of her.

There's a rush of adrenaline that has the perky brunette scrambling to her feet as the power that she doesn't feel very often is burbling up. Selphie's hands are shaking as she struggles to stay standing. She thrusts her hands out in front of her. She'll aim for the left arm after seeing magic attacks being aimed at it. It's her limit break, Slot.]

Take this! Thundaga!

[Selphie falls to the earth soon afterwards and tries to work on that Cura spell again.]

[ Sheena and her clone had been running to give Deadpool a hand when the concussion of the turret exploding sent both of them flying--to behind the WEAPON. Well now, that's a new view for the ninja as she lay on the ground looking up and sporting a few new abrasions and sore muscles. Not to mention a headache that was making her vision slightly blurry. Guardian couldn't protect her from things like that, but she knows how to get around that little problem. ]

Ow...

[ Both her and her clone rise painfully, and knowing one--or both--may be taking a risk--each of them slaps a Life Seal and Spirit Seal on the back of either leg, restoring some of their health and mana while taking the same amount of the WEAPON's in the process.

Such a sneaky, hidden, absorbing pair of ninja, aren't they? ]

[ ooc: I'm not sure if this is a magic or physical attack, or both, since the spell is inscribed in the seal, but she has to touch for them to work. ]

[Twilight yelped as the ship was rocked, trying to keep her balance as she did. She heard Chiaki's warnings about the two arms. However, she knew she'd probably get in someone's way.]

Everyone, I got this!

[With that, her horn glowed as she decided to use her Magical Telekinesis to hold up the Airship, enveloping it in a purple glow.]

Keep attacking; I'll hold up this ship as long as possible!

Wow!

[A fancy glowing sword. Cool. Time to try it out. He isn't injured. Yet. But he does have five jobs maxed.

He's making his way back down, once again relying on Parkour and Ceiling Walking to get him down safely. But this time he's striking the left side on his way down.]

Take that!

[Albel didn't really understand Chiaki's reasoning, but her instructions were working.]

Syrreth! Target the right arm with Assault!

[For his part, he cast Shunshin, dashing toward Sheena. He managed the last bit of the distance with a Smoke Bomb.]

You okay?

[Assured that Cloud was okay, Reno left the high-flying stunts to Sephiroth. Splitting off a Clone, he ran to Johnny's side.]

Got yer back!

[Both clones cast Thundara at the left arm.]

[K'pandolu heads towards Chiaki first, to check quickly that the other girl's all right, and then nods firmly.]

Got it.

[and then she moves away again, because the arms might not have attacked this time but maybe they will, and the fewer people caught in the blast the better. Besides- probably better to have some space when she casts Electrostatic on the left arm.]

As most of the attacks are focused on the Left Side, it is starting to show wear and might very well go inactive within one or two turns. The right side is showing signs of wear as well, though not anywhere as close as the left side as much less attacks are focused on it. And as the Heroes of Light found out about the patterns, damages are minimal this turn. However… As the Heroes try to divide damages between both sides to avoid the counterattack, the left side is more likely to go down right before the Ultima rather than earlier—Meaning there might not be enough time left to both destroy the left side and protect for the upcoming Ultima on the final turn should things keep going this way. Or will there?

For this turn, the pattern with the WEAPON remains unchanged. Meaning that no matter how obvious attacks are, it won’t attack lest the Heroes make a mistake in the pattern.


Left Side

[The left side is transferring energy to the core. The hands move together as if charging up something and sparkles appear between them. This can’t be good.
The left arm is noticeably less pretty and slower than the right arm now. As a consequence, anyone moving too close to it risks being hit by an electrical discharge.
It will use its Claw skill to counterattack anyone attacking it with physical attacks. Together with the electrical discharges, this will deal heavy damages.]

Right Side

[The right side is transferring energy to the core. The hands move together as if charging up something and sparkles appear between them. This can’t be good.
It will use its Laser skill to counterattack anyone attacking it with magical attacks, dealing medium damages.]

Core

[The core grows brighter. It seems to feed the sparkles appearing between both hands.
Ultima will be cast in two turns.]

[Saori cursed under breath as she steadied herself. Of course, why didn't she think of this sooner. She cast clone and the copy goes to work firing and reloading. After putting her Dragoon helm back on, she went over to one of the exit hatches. One Spirit Surge later, she opened the hatch.]

Maybe this'll even the odds. Close the hatch as soon as I go!

[Part of hoped that an attack from this height might add some extra damage. Or maybe one broken mess pile that was her. There was only one way to test that theory out and Jump at the right arm.]

[Pat pat pat pat. A Teensie's footsteps barely make noise on hard ground, and even on muddy terrain, Ales is silent among the din of magic and weapons. He won't attack the arms nor provide support; that will draw attention. Instead, once he approaches the unmoving Ultima WEAPON...

He pauses to admire it. Look at that thing! He was dead when it first appeared, and no one allowed him to fully explore the Diamond WEAPON once it was uncovered. This is a feat of engineering - a mix of machinery and biology. What he would do to uncover its secrets! Why must they destroy this piece of art? Why not subdue it another way?

Keeping the hood up, Ales runs behind the giant mecha and prepared to hack into the device. Primarily, he's searching for an override function (imagine if he could control the feet!), but if there's a way to shut down the arms, he will take it.]

[Given a second to catch her breath, she's in the midst of casting Flare on the left arm once again when she hears Saori's request.]

A-alright.

[Once Flare has gone off, she pulls out her Ancient laptop, summoning a Healing Program for herself and before closing the hatch as requested.]

[Oooookay, so things aren't looking good. We are about two days IRL before this thing goes off, kills us all and we don't get to load up a save and try again. Everyone's playing it safe and I'm just sitting here pondering my next move because seriously, I really wanted to hack that stupid thing's foot off. How come I couldn't attack it?!

No, wait - that's too off-topic. Focus, focus... ah, alright, plan C!

And Deadpool whistles to his clone, recalling it over to him]

Alright, you - Clone time. And I know, I know, clones are bad juju, but if we don't do something soon, we're going to really get waylaid here!

[With a heavy sigh of regret, the Deadpools Clone each other, now with four times the Deadpool. Which is more than should be legally allowed.]

Alright, A-one, a-two, and awaaaaaay we go! JUDGEMENT!

[And all four Deadpools hit the Ultima Weapon at the same time with the Magitek Knight's ultimate attack, sending them flying from the counterattack...]

...DING! Limit Break ready! We're going to hit this thing so hard, we're going to mess up the notification system!

[Alright, back to healing. Jade teleports closer to the more injured Heroes and casts Curaga on Selphie and Pyrrha.]

There, up you go. Let's keep up the pressure.

[Since Deadpool seems to be getting hit intentionally, Jade lets him be. The guy's still standing and making his bizarre proclamations, clearly he can't be that badly hurt.]

[If Sephiroth could reach down within his custom job and somehow get more of a buff to his outgoing dps or speed he would do it without any hesitation. He knows he's already pressing his Combat Mode to the limit of it's energizing capacity. He continues with the Octaslash-punctuated chains of physical attack to the right side, jumping back at intervals to take a survey of the developing situation. The left side seems to be wearing out before the right; not good enough.

ShinRa Guard is refreshed, and an Armor Break was charged into the next charged-flurry of Sephiroth's attacks on the right side. Hopefully to help bring the damage more level.]

Be careful, everyone! Don't get too close!

[Chiaki, seeing that the damage to the right side is still lagging far behind the left, decides to shift her focus for the time being. And since she can see the dangerous sparking going on, she's going to keep her distance and stick to ranged attacks. The right side takes a hail of Machine Gun fire from her mecha as she hangs back to defend the others.]

We need to wear down the right side!

[Levy dismisses the quicksand, reasoning that the WEAPON is already stationary for the time being. This time, she's going to take a bit of a chance to try to help the physical attackers.]

Solid Script: Bullet!

[The word 'BULLET' briefly appears in front of her before condensing into a solid form and flying toward the right side. It's an attack formed by magic, yes, but Solid Script conjures things with all the physical properties of the word Levy uses, so with any luck it'll count as a physical attack for purposes of not triggering the counter.]

[Johnny's hurting, but he doesn't have a way to heal himself. He knows what will happen if his health gets too low, and he'd rather not fly off the handle like that. He'd rather push himself to death than use his limit break. Not that he might have a choice in that matter. For now, he chooses to use Break on the right side. He has no idea if the petrifying effect would work on the WEAPON, but it's worth a shot.]

Ah... thank you!

[Pyrrha nods to Ruby and Jade for their help, making a full recovery between her own healing and that Curaga. And with Ruby's brief intercession to defend her, she's able to regain her composure and drop into a battle stance once again.]

Keep going, everyone! We can't let up for a moment!

[Mounting her chocobo once again, Pyrrha transforms her weapon into its rifle form. She loads up several dust cartridges, taking aim at the right side and releasing a barrage of powerful gunfire.]

[After that combo attack, Sparks is lucky to be still standing. His Magitek Armor smolders from the electrical force used against him. In what seems like a foolish move, he exits the armor, dismissing it for now.

The right side needs to be hit? Fine.]

...Never liked robots anyway.

[Sparks doesn't even draw his gunsword as he at first slowly makes his way over there through the fray. But despite all his damage, he makes his way up to a sprint. As he approaches the right side, he's even giving his best battle cry, as he begins to punch it in a feverish flurry with robot fists. It's time to Right the Outlaw Wrongs!]

[Stick to the pattern. Right. The right arm needed some work, but Reno would rather be absolutely sure that the Left was down and out before moving on. One clone targetted the arm with a Magic Burst while the other used Eagle Vision, making Johnny his Target. If anything happened to the other man, Reno would know and be able to move him out of danger. Once the battlefield settled into hues of red, blue, and one glowing gold, Reno's double began to cast Thundara once more.]

[This was definitely no time to be letting up. The more they could wear down the Weapon, the more likely they were to all survive this. Vincent's going to keep focusing on the right side with physical attacks. No time to be thrifty now, as he lets out Scattershot on his target. It'll take some downtime, so he's dodging back and trying to assess the overall state of the Weapon and what the other Heroes are doing while reloading.]
