Event || Revelations

Characters: All the Heroes of Light and their Moogles.
Where: Order's Sanctuary, The Interdimensional Rift and their Homeworlds.
When: August 03rd - August 30th

Summary: Following the battle against Palitutu, all the Heroes of Light were transported into the Interdimensional Rift. They were told by Palitutu they would have to find her to prove they can break the cycle-- But before they could reach their destination, a malevolent entity from the Rift stripped them from their immortality...

And now, they woke up in a decaying and dying world, most specifically in a place called Order's Sanctuary. From there they are ready to jump... Into their homeworlds! Feel free to use this post for the Mingle at Order's Sanctuary and should your homeworld be the stage for the Heroes of Lights' next adventures, feel free to make a thread for it and as many sub-thread as necessary! Please refer to the OOC Post for questions and plotting.

[Dear, stupid Aoi. Duster's armor isn't much, but it's warm. He reaches out for his boyfriend and pulls hims in for a hug.]

It kind of looks like the Santa Village...

[The cheerfulness does match, but they can't be related, right?]

Wonder why...

[Aoi wraps his arms around Duster and leeches away his bodyheat. Hey, Duster initiated the hug, so he basically offered.]

It's gotta be based off of the same idea. Part of a collective knowledge that people unconsciously tap into.

[He unwinds one arm from Duster long enough to make a sweeping gesture around them before latching back on. It's so fucking cold.]

Kids believe in this place. They think that if they write a letter and send it here, their wishes will come true on Christmas. So many people thinkin' about the same place, it gives it power.

[He's not sure if the chicken or the egg came first, but either way. It's part of the Morphogenetic Field, so it makes sense to him that it would be around in multiple iterations of the universe.]

[Giving away his body heat is the first step. Next step is to get out of the cold. If this village is just as friendly as it appears, surely they will be let inside...

But a more important question pops up:] ...You know about this place?

[What even is Christmas?]

Yeah, dude. You said it. It's Christmas Village, or Santa Village, or whatever they wanna call it. You know Christmas. Starlight Festival. Whatever.

[Duster's gotta know about that, right? He's been in Crystallis long enough. Aoi steers them toward what he's hoping is a bakery. It'll be warm.]

[He's heard of Santa. He's heard of the Starlight Festival. He was not around at the right time to properly ask about Christmas.]

Christmas and the Starlight Festival are the same thing?

[It smells like bread, so it has to be a bakery. Might as well stock up on food there. He loosens his grip on Aoi and quickens his pace.]

[Aoi gives him his best 'you're lucky you're cute' look.]

Yeah, basically. Santa flies around and brings presents to all the good lititle boys and girls on Christmas eve, and it's all lovey-dovey and cheerful and shit.

[The elves in the bakery gasp at this scandalous language, in Christmastown , for shame. Someone's on the naughty list now.]

'Cept it's not actually supposed to be real. Parents buy their kids stuff and say it's from Santa Claus to get their kids to be good...and if a kid ain't got parents, somebody else has gotta work their ass off to give 'em something so they don't think they've been terrible.

Oh. So it's more of a legend. [He glances at the elves, worried that Aoi's mouth will lead to them getting kicked out. With a little push, he leads him to a table in the corner.]

From what I'm guessing...Christmas exists in lots of worlds, but not mine.

[Duster doesn't take a seat, instead resting his hand on Aoi's bare shoulder.]

They might take work as payment. It's how we did it in Tazmily. [Ideal villages should work the same way, right?]

Im my world, it is. But that's prob'ly because it exists other places and people unconsciously tap into the knowledge of it from alternate worlds. It's...it's kinda dumb. But whatever.

[There's a hot cocoa dispenser to the side of one of the display shelves, with marshmallows and peppermint stirring sticks, and there's more cookies than anyone could ever hope to eat.]

Payment? Nah, we're operating on Christmas spirit here. [He takes a cup, murmuring a 'Merry Christmas' to the elves as he fills it up. He figures after 24 years of no Santa Claus taking care of him, they owe him a drink. It'll probably be fine.]

...Okay.

[It makes sense? It exists in some worlds and not others because of reasons, most likely because the people of Tazmily removed all memories of Christmas and the mythology behind it.

The elves reply with a 'Merry Christmas' of their own, letting this customer not dressed for the weather take his drink. Duster isn't too sure about the free food just yet, so he walks up to the counter.]

Sorry, but we don't have any money. Is it alright if I help out in the back to make up for it? [A pause.] Do you have a tailor here? My friend needs a new jacket, too.

[The little elves look up at Duster with confusion. Money? That's the stuff that kids nowadays sometimes ask for for Christmas, but Santa Claus just snorts and gives them trumpets and toy trains instead. That's not how the system works.]

So...you're lookin' for a job?

But you don't got a hat. Can't be one of Santa's elves without a hat.

We don't need tall folk comin' in takin' our jobs. You need a jacket, we make the jackets 'round here.

[Aoi smirks as the elves work themselves up more and more. It's apparent they take a lot of pride in their work, and they're probably used to giving it away. They don't fear thieves; they fear competition.]

Your guy's prob'ly not used to makin' anything big enough for me, I bet. And I'm picky about styles. Prob'ly better if I do it myself.

[He winks at Duster.] And don't even bother givin' this guy any cookies. He's notoriously picky with sweets. Nothin' but the best, or he won't even look at it.

[Fortunately for all parties, hearing that this town doesn't use money brings a smile to Duster's face. It's just how Tazmily was in the old days: villagers giving away their extra supplies out of the goodness of their own heart.]

No, nothing like that. We're travelers. All we need is something to eat and a coat.

[The elves give each other a look. Christmas Town rarely gets any visitors other than penguins and snowmen, but the residents treat them just fine. Would humans be the same?]

Cookies and hot chocolate are yours to take!

You'll have to write a notice to the clothes shop if you want a jacket. Normally we only give them out on Christmas, but...

I'll see what I can do. [He leans over the glass display and points to thick slice of apple pie.] One of those, please?

[The elves bounce up and down as they plate the pie and hand it over.]

See, our treats are the best!

Even the Big Guy loves 'em, so of course these guys want 'em.

[Santa just smiles into his hot cocoa mug. Some people are just so easy to convince.]

C'mon, we don't wanna carry around plates and cups in the snow. Might as well eat here.

[There are some little round tables and chairs by the side window, and it gives them a good view of the picturesque village. They see children ride by on a giant wooden polar bear, and further away, elves ice skating on a frozen pond. It's...nice. A bit wholesome for Aoi's taste, but nice enough for an evening with the boyfriend.]

Maybe after we suit up, we could...you know, explore a little. If you wanna.

[Duster absentmindedly puts the plates on the table as he learns that snow can be fun. It's cold and unfamiliar, usually existing to force Duster to wear warmer clothing, but Christmas Town makes it not seem so bad.

He lifts the mug of hot chocolate and sips.]

I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a break.

[Aoi knows a thing or two about snow. It could be fun.]

[Aoi is focused more on the warmth of the cocoa than the consuming of it. He wraps both hands around the mug and lifts the cup close to his lips so he can breath in the steam. There's nothing like being warm. He relaxes into his chair with a pleased sigh.]

You ever ice skated before? Or built a snowman? Or sledded? Sometimes it's not totally lame. Might as well entertain ourselves a little, make it worth our while before we move on to somewhere terrible.

[The leather gloves Duster is wearing insulated his fingers from the warm mug, but the heat that still gets through comforts him. Chocolate, while not rare in Crystallis, was a luxury before arriving here, and he savors each taste.

His eyes wander from the window and travel to Aoi's face. His nose is still red from the time he was in the cold...it makes him look cute.]

No. Kumatora and Lucas went up Snow Mountain before, but there wasn't enough time for them to take me there. [They spoke to snowmen, sat in the hot springs, and sledded down the mountain in a refrigerator, but Duster was being tied up to a pole and beaten while that was happening.]

Ok. We'll suit up and do somethin' fun.

[Snowball fight would be amusing, but Aoi shudders just thinking about the cold snow getting into his clothes and shoes. Snowman building would probably get old quick. Maybe skating. He'd probably have to hold Duster's hand while he learned. Or sledding, with Duster's arms wrapped tight around his waist to hold on as they flew across the snow... And he's willing to bet that if they just wander a bit, they'll find themselves some mistletoe.]

Ahem. Anythin' in particular you wanna try?

[Duster picks at his slice of pie.]

I'm good with anything. [Maybe not the snowball fight, seeing that Aoi is already cold. He cuts a large chunk of food and pops it into his mouth.] Honestly, I don't know a thing about Christmas, so you'll have to show me around.

[Aoi grins.] You've got the best Christmas guide, man. Don't even worry.

[The first step in their adventure is finishing their cocoa and snacks at the bakery. Once Aoi's leeched as much warmth as he can from his cup, he gets around to drinking it. It's good, nice and rich. The little elves at the bakery know their shit.]

Ok, you good to go? We gotta see if these squirts got anything in our size?

[Duster's a fast eater, even when he wants to savor the hot cocoa and pie. The plate his pushed back, and he wipes the crumbs off his mouth with two fingers.]

I'll run out and look for a tailor first. Stay here. [He pushes his chair away from the table, leaving his spear and bag behind.] Get something for use to eat in the meantime.

[And he's off! Time to find an elf that can make a coat for his boyfriend. Maybe he can get him one in periwinkle so they can match.]

You sure? I can go with you.

[He's no helpless damsel, and he's used to doing all the legwork. So it's weird, having someone else wanting to take care of him. But it's...kinda nice.]

'kay. I'll take care of things here. Don't get anything that'll wash me out. [Beggers shouldn't be choosers, but Aoi figures there's no problem with at least asking for something fashionable.]

[Periwinkle it is. No, the elves don't have anything in that color once Duster asks, and the red with white trimmings is reserved for the Big Man. It would take too much time to get a coat made from the best material, much less one that used up more than one color of fabric. In the end, a cheerful elf that's new to the job volunteers.

Twenty minutes later, Duster trudges through the snow carrying a fluffy, green gift. The bakery's bell jingles as he pushes the door open. He's brought a yellow scarf for himself, as his armor - while warm - doesn't cover everything.]

Hope I didn't take too long.

[Aoi takes the coat and shrugs it on. It's more color than he usually wears, but it could be worse. With Duster picking the color scheme, it could be a LOT worse.]

Thanks.

[But, you know, it's warm. Extra warm from having been bundled up in Duster's arms. He pulls the loose ends of his scarf out from the coat and tucks them into the folds around his neck. He's pretty sure he looks ridiculous, but so does Duster, in his dumb yellow scarf and armor, and so does this whole stupid town. As long as he's not the most ridiculous and has the best hair, he can soldier on.]

C'mon, let's get moving. Those sleds aren't gonna ride themselves.

[White, black and green - Aoi is wearing more than two colors, which makes him look much more fashionable and easier to spot in the snow at night. Not that he would let him wander far, as he hooks his arm around Aoi's and pulls him it. It's warmer this way. Duster doesn't like the cold much.

He saw some kids sledding while on the way to the tailor shop, so once they leave the bakery, he leads Aoi to the right.]

The main part of town's the other way, but there's some things this way.

Ok, lead on.

[He can't even be mad about the dumb outfits, because Duster finally initiated contact. So far, it's been Aoi reaching out to him, never really sure if Duster likes him as much as he likes Duster. His lips twitch up into a smile.

There are sleds lined up in a little rack at the bottom of the big sledding hill. Aoi figures it's fine if they borrow one, long as they bring it back when they're done. Personal property doesn't have the same rules around here. Probably.]

You find with sharing? I figure it'll be easier to learn if we stick together. [Easier to cozy up to one another if they're in the same sled.]

Sure. You can show me how it works.

[Everyone shares whatever they have. It's the rule of small, close-knit communities. Hopefully this one is big enough for two men. Duster quickens his pace, marking his uneven gait on the snow as he drags Aoi. It's been weeks since they had some fun, much less time to be alone together.

If sledding makes Aoi smile, then Duster has to do this more often.]

So are you sitting in the front? Is that how it works?
