Summary: A letter from Artemicion calls the Heroes of Light for help! Little do they know that they will inadventenly become trapped in the Magitek Facility. The OOC Post for detailed explanations can be found here.

[ Most of the things in this office seem to be unimportant. All papers are over ten years old and relate to Magitek, speaking of its potential use in creating new Jobs. There is a door that leads to a corridor and a closed treasure chest in a corner. ]

[ while the others got their heads together, Sho wandered over to the treasure chest, squatting down and giving it a hard stare. while he should by rights go through all the papers, he was more interested to see what might be important enough to get locked into a chest in this place.

course, with his luck, it would probably be last year's issues of Play Boy hidden inside. ]

Think we should take the papers with us?

Allenby was actually interested in the papers. From what she was getting to see, and read, this was the closest thing to a 'Gundam' she was getting.

"Well... it'd be kind of a burden to take them all, but, we probably should try to spare some of them." Nevermind that she wouldn't mind reading them herself.

"Did you find anything?"

Angeal had taken out his camera and pointed to it with his index finger. "Since taking them with us is out of the question, I can save the ones we don't take with us just in case we need them later."

It was habit now to bring his camera with him on trips and it was useful to have with him for times like this. Everything was data, even what seems to be harmless snapshots and more than once he acted as a visitor to gain intelligence before missions.

"I can carry quite a bit if necessary." Backpacks were always useful.

[ A light comes out of the treasure chest as Sho opens it...

You got 30 000 Gils!

It's probably money the person once working here was keeping. You must be very happy! ]

Rose was a little disconcerted by the light coming out of the box. It was...unusual to say the least. She rifled through the papers, looking for references to the Crystals or Crystal Stasis in case it pertained to her current area of interest.

"If we are going to take any of these I'd like a copy at some point. Just in case. In the meantime..."

Rose walked over to the door and peered out into the adjoining corridor cautiously.

Sho just blinks at the chest for a moment or two and then looks up at Zal. The moogle seemed to act like it was completely normal, so Sho shrugged and took the money. If anyone mentions it, he will split it up but since no one has, he was just going to hold onto it.

"Is there anything out there?"

[ None of the papers contain any reference to Crystal Stasis-- For the most part, they're very technical and treat crystals and magic as a science, which seems to be what Magitek is about.

The corridors appears to be empty-- There are many doors there, all leading to other offices similar to the one they come from, with some of these offices being separated by glass walls only. There is an exit door leading to another corridor as well. The robotic noise seem to come from somewhere beyond that exit.

One of the doors has a different color. It is red and the plate on the door reads "Dr. Cid". ]

Angeal watched the party go about the business of the situation and noticed from the papers that it was written in a language he seemed to understand, if only in part. He rolled his eyes a bit, since he remembered a lot of Hollander's work and Hojo's for that matter, spoke the same language.

"If you need them, I'll make copies for you. But as near as I can tell, there isn't anything in these documents that describe what crystal stasis is. My guess, they simply don't know."

He turned to face Sho and nodded once. "Since you were the one that found it, you make the call." Angeal thought it was fair to let the finder decide. He wasn't in this adventure for the money. He needed answers.

"Well, let's do that then then hurry on." Allenby suggests, spreading a few pages out on the desk so it's easier to grab pictures of more than one at a time. "I wanna see more of this Magitek stuff later on."

There was a sort of unease in the air, that usual 'fear of the unknown' given the only path forward was down the hall. Nobody wanted to hear about Gundams right now, and she was getting a little itchy to finally punch something nice and hard!

Presuming the paperwork is handled with relative quickness, a few of them taken with her, not knowing what was on each page at the time, Allenby will take point down the hall, pausing by "Dr. Cid"'s door for a moment.

Magitek was something completely foreign to Yuna. She wasn't sure what to make of it exactly, wondering if some of the fiends she'd faced in the past would have fit the bill for what they could be... But they had a goal, and that was what she remained focused on for the time being.

As Allenby stopped near the door, so too did she, speaking the name aloud as she read it. "Cid?" An odd coincidence, she thought, her uncle coming to mind -- though he was far from a doctor.

[ Should they try, the door is rusty and stuck, but can be opened by someone pushing strong enough. ]

Rose approached the door cautiously, thinking to herself that perhaps the records in a doctor's office would be more relevant to her interests. She gives the door a pull and then frowns at it before attempting to give it a push.

It didn't open of course, but it gave just slightly with a groan of protest.

Rose frowned at the door as she glanced back at the group and said, "Could one of you big strong lads try your hand at this?"

Angeal stepped forward and tested the knob. The door is stuck tight and held together by rust. Brute force was needed to open it and he motioned with his hand in a gesture that everyone should stand back. Instead of pushing the door, he knew that he would have to land a hard, swift kick to it to keep himself from spilling forward.

"I'll need some room. This door is rusted and it won't budge willingly even if we had a key. Let's just hope there's nothing behind it waiting for us." Yuna's protection spell was a great help in this case but he didn't need anyone else getting hurt by accident.

"Ready?" He looked around to make sure that no one was too close within striking distance. He dropped into his fighting stance in preparation for a spinning back kick toward the obstruction.

"Sure, break down the door in a spooky place that has all sorts of things we know nothing about," Sho said, keeping his distance. His skills were next to useless in this kind of setting unless someone needed a lock picked, things stolen, or things shot at. And he was not going to waste a bullet on a door. With their luck, it might actually ricochet and kill one of them.

Just to be on the safe side, he took out his bow and sets an arrow to the string. If anything, he could get a shot off before something nasty comes flying at them.

"Do you have any better ideas?" Angeal had hoped that there was something else to add other than him just kicking down a door but Sho was right, and that was why he needed everyone to be prepared and not just himself and Sho.

"I'm all ears." He wasn't being sarcastic, he was being honest. He was willing to take any suggestion offered other than just using brute force on a door that was rusted shut.

"Oh come on! You're wasting too much time worrying about all the 'what ifs'." Allenby psuedo-whines as she shoulder-shoves Angeal to the side.

Taking a deep breath, Allenby punches the door just above the knob, looking to break either the mechanism within the knob or the door frame, then kicks the door in roughly the same place to further force it.

"We're not getting anywhere just talking about it. Besides, I'm not good at the whole 'planning ahead' part." Bravely Allenby stands before the door as it opens, bringing her fists up for a fight.

[ When the door opens it reveals a messy and dusty desk, that seemingly saw a lot of use before its owner abandoned it. There are papers regarding Magitek and Airships on the desk, it appears Cid is a Doctor in Engineering if anything.

All around the room, there are small Airships models, most of which seem to be the same Airships they can see flying around the town. There are also models of a few airships they've probably never seen before, such as the Highwind and Ragnarok. On the wall there is the design for a new type of Airship named "Type-E".

There are also some letters on the desk. They seem to be from a man named "Garland," in which he urges Dr. Cid to come work for him in spite of repeated denials. ]

Rose startled slightly as the twin impacts echoed through the halls as the door came open. She peered inside at all the models curiously, none of her children had been the type to build models but it still reminded her of a child's room somehow.

"Well that was anti-climactic, but at least we have more records to copy."

"Never can be too safe if you've got no idea where you are," Sho said, shrugging as he put his arrow and bow away. He peeked around them and made an amused kind of snort, and started to check the other doors, leaving the exit alone.

"How much of these papers are you gonna take with you?"

"As many as I wanna. It's been nothing but paperwork anyway... I already told you about the robots before..." she says, gathering up some of the notes after pictures are taken.

Allenby looked at some of the models next, getting caught up by the blueprints on the wall. "Someone was proud of their work..." she comments, reaching up to carefully take it down.

Angeal looked around as he stepped into the room but not without making a passing gesture toward Rose by placing a gentle hand on her shoulder with a warm smile. "Just as it should be."

He listened to the others talk amongst themselves and stepped forward to look around. The model ships reminded him of the ShinRa aerospace division that were developing ways of travel around the planet to make lives easier but something was wrong. The dust was telling him a different story and his brow showed what his words didn't say.

"Was, is the operative word. I wonder what happened to the scientist in charge? This place hadn't been used in a while, it seems."

Rose absently pat the hand on her shoulder before pulling away to go look on the other side of the desk. She checked to see if the desk had drawers, and if she noticed any she proceeded to open them and look inside at their various contents.

[ The desk has many drawers, most of them containing Cid's research on Magitek and his correspondence with various people, notably this Garland.

At the same time, footsteps can be heard coming from the corridor where they were moments ago. ]

"Hey, see if we can't get one of those fancy models out of here too... I know it sound stupid bu--" Allenby picks up on the footsteps and smiles.

"Looks like we might finally get some action! It's about time!" Her hands are already up and ready for a fight!
