When: July 27th - August 03rd, twenty-eight years in the past.
Summary: As the Heroes of Light were transported to the past, they now have the possibility explore Aqures Tosf and take part in the events that ultimately led to their arrival in Crystallis. Feel free to start your own threads with your own prompts for everything your characters will do during this week! Please look at the OOC Post for information as to what can be done in the city and for what is happening during the Festival of Light!

She certainly seems comfortable as she is. At least with the gathered company at any rate. An experienced time traveler like Jack may be able to come up with further reasons why she dresses the way she does, beyond simply sexual identity. Still, as long as this is what he thinks and keeps it to himself she won't see a reason to say otherwise.

Looking at the display, she opts to avoid asking how it works for now and simply accepts that it does. It seems similar to the crystal computers they had in that other timeline in the dream they shared. At least it's an analogy she can make.

"Even if we weren't drawn in in such a way we clearly all were affected." Looking around she can see heroes who weren't even closeby when it occurred. "Finding the Crystal does seem like a good plan. Go to what caused it in the first place. Or else find the woman responsible." Mary scowls, her patience with the mysterious woman well spent.

Jack nods firmly at that last part. "Kalki is undoubtedly here with us. I don't know what she could be trying to change."

He looks around, gaze slowly panning over them all, before another question seems to come to mind, and he looks back at Kidd. "It's also just- us. I mean, no one else in the city. It just got the Heroes, not any of the Aqurean or Heran soldiers, none of the civilians, not even the moogles."

Which means... Jack pulls his crystal out of his pocket and scowls at it. "Something to do with these damn things again, then."

Mary pulls out her own crystal as well, one of the ones that have been drained of their light thanks in no small part to the woman who now has them stuck in this time. Frowning she peers through it, the A shape of it catching the light.

"Her words made it seem like she was going to attempt to show us something. If the blasted woman would speak straight and plain perhaps we'd actually all be getting somewhere with this Calamity thing." Shifting her gaze from the crystal to Jack she raised a curious eyebrow, "You seem to know a mite more about this...time travel business than the others here. Done it before have you?"

Jack laughs and scratches the back of his head. "Yeah, caught that, did ya? Traveled time, juust a few times before." He looks more seriously at Kidd. "It used to be my job. Literally, my job was to prevent stuff exactly like this. People going back in time and potentially changing the future. Intentionally or on accident. We could mess up so much here and not even realize it."

"If Kalki wants to show us something, she seems pretty confident that we can't change it. Even if we get the opportunity, I don't know if we should try." But he sounds uncertain about that, like he's still having trouble deciding that, himself.

"Maybe so. But I'm keen to find out what it is she's been on about all this time. It's infuriating having her dangle scraps before us and then laugh about us not being fed." She scowled at the open air, in the hopes it would one day reach its target. She then turned to Jack with a smirk.

"But I have to tell you something. You don't play things very close to the vest mate. Or perhaps not as nearly as you'd like to think." She was sure the man still had a few secrets up his sleeve but she figured the jab wouldn't kill him. "A job keeping the peace, eh? If I didn't know better I'd imagine you were more of a rogue like me and mine. Your face and your voice are too pretty for honest work. How did you come across such an appointment anyway?

Jack grins widely at Kidd. "Too pretty for honest work, well, you're not wrong. Although I'd have to say the same about you, but you've never pretended to be honest." Jack likes that.

"There is a time and a place for playing things close to the vest. And this. Aint. It. Everybody else is hiding things from us, we need to not hide things from each other." A pause, as Jack considers Kidd's words. "You're right, though, this is more open and loose than I usually run things."

But how did he get here? "It was really..accident. And a long story, as to why I ended up on the right side of the law, then the wrong, then the right again, then....sort of...making up my own rules?" Jack's head tits farther and farther to the side as he thinks about it. "Wow. I can try to explain it, but the short version is that I just kept moving forwards. You never quite know where your life is going to take you, when you're living it in the moment?" He looks back to the self-proclaimed pirate, and he has a feeling Kidd will understand exactly what he means.

Kidd nods and she offers Jack a smile. "I appreciate you bein' up front. As you said far too many people seem to be playing their cards close and then expecting us to follow their lead. I haven't liked it from the start."

Listening to his story she chuckles and absently adjusts her cuffs, "Sounds a bit like my own life as well. I started out on some odd paths but I made a life of following the wind. The most important thing I've learned over my years is that folk need to be free to make their own choices, good or ill." She looked Jack up and down. Perhaps she'd ask him what he thought of her Creed once this all calmed down.

"So, with your voice of experience, what do you suggest we do?"
