"The future... is something we carve with our own hands. From time immemorial since the Twelve, there is a era of prosperity, and an era of ruin. Perhaps we are seeing the effects of this here, in this world."

He turned towards Zelda. "The plan continues, even if some do not agree with it. Perhaps it is time that we take the future into our own hands, and entrust it to those who will continue the will of our peoples."

Almost treasonous words, but most knew that in the time that Adventurer had joined the Antagonists, he spoke in riddles. Though not the flowered words of Uriangier, it was like he had... remembered something, in the future to come.

Zelda nodded her head while letting silence linger between them. She remained calm only nodding her head slightly.

"Yes, I agree."

That was her thoughts as well. If they couldn't stop it, which they clearly can't, then the other heroes, the heroes that will come in the future, can stop it. They will have a better chance just as the heroes before them tried to give them a better chance. Zelda can only send her hope with them.

"Are you willing to sacrifice everything for that?"

"I must."

Looking up, he reached over and placed his hand on Zelda's. "Pray, I regret dragging you to the side I chose. But... if it is to secure a future for the ones who come later, then I am satisfied."

"... but..." He sighed and reached over to his side where a small Shantotto Minion snoozed. He tousled her hair fondly. "If I am naught to make it, Shantotto will see it through. As goes the Light, so does Darkness."

His eyes flashed, the stirrings of the Inner Beast waking to battle. "Soon, the battle will be joined. And the Warrior of Darkness comes."

Zelda carefully laced her fingers through Meteor's her lips forming a thin smile as she looked over at the other antagonist.

"I made my own choice." She chose this path and she would stick to it. "But thank you."

Her gaze moved over towards Shantotto and she laughed softly feeling a slight lightness to her heart that she rarely felt. It had been so long since she laughed or smile, she had fallen into her goals and let little else get close to her. "Shantotto is very strong." There was no one who would argue that.

"Meteor I know you are strong. You'll see this through." Even if she can't.

This small comfort was what he needed. His heart was weary, but strong. "Am I? I am only as strong as those who stand beside me."

Looking up at Zelda, he then smiled. "But you are with me. I know we are to part for our own missions... I just hope one day, we will be able to walk together again."

Looking at Shantotto, it was strange. The little minion seemed to know what he was thinking at times. "Even if we have naught the time... I would like to leave something for the future."

Pulling out a small journal from the folds of his tunic, he held it out for Zelda to take, with a pen. "She will survive the calamity. She is built by the most powerful mage of several worlds. She will carry our wishes with us."

Zelda looked down at the pen and paper with a smile and then shook her head. "I wouldn't know what to write." For future generations? What would they need to know? There was only one thing that Zelda could think that they would need to know and she took the pen to write over a small piece of paper.

In elegant script she wrote. 'Stay together and you will be strong. Friends, family and love will keep you safe.'

She looked over at Meteor and shook her head. "It's not very good is it?" She was never good at this sort of thing and in the past she had stumbled around trying to give people hope.

Reading it, he shook his head. "It's perfect."

Having written his own words, he capped the pen. "To see your goals through, stand firm and strong. Pray we meet again."

"I have... kept this journal for the duration of these events. The last thoughts are now brought to the future."

Turning towards the minion who had roused, he passed it onto her, the minion stowing it into her dress. "She will carry it to the ends of the world, and perhaps, one day, deliver it into the hands who need it the most."

Zelda smiled. "I'm glad." Time was short and the young goddess wasn't sure how long she could stay.

She looked over at Meteor and then at the piano. She can't play her harp here, it would give her identity away but the least she could do was ask for one more song. A song that spoke to her in a way that others hadn't.

"Do you remember the song I always used to play? Could you play it for me now please?" She looked up at him and released his hand so he had both to play. It was a simple request and she was sure that he'd learned it over these last two years. The song of the goddess, the song that gave Zelda strength.

"I remember."

Turning to the piano, he closed his eyes, bringing up the music in his mind. Fingers poised, he began to play the goddess song, a short piece but it was full of emotion.

If only there was something they could all do, instead of this needless cycle of fighting.

Zelda closed her eyes, her lips forming a perfectly peaceful smile as she listened to the song. Her heart swelled and lifted in her chest as the familiar tune reached her ears. It was short and fleeting but that was one of the things that made the song perfect. Her eyes slowly opened and she looked over at Meteor with a warm smile.

"Thank you."

She rose from her seat pausing right next to Meteor. She reached down and lightly kissed his cheek before pulling away. She didn't think they would meet again and that single gesture was a better good by than any set of words that she had for him.

He would go with her prayers but they had to go their separate ways.
