Summary: The Heroes of Light have a vision-- They are living through a hypothetical future where the Sage share his knowledge with them, and things went horribly wrong as some Heroes of Light became the villains in this timeline. Maybe they'll revise their thoughts on getting all of that knowledge.
Warning: The apocalypse, deaths, tragedies, overall a lot of very bad things.

[She pauses, knowing the thing she's about to say next is selfish and probably just a little bit impossible. Her smile softens.]

Chiaki's request takes Jack aback for a second, in surprise, as if she would even need to ask that of him? "Never." Soft. "Chiaki, never. Not you. Couldn't forget you if I tried."

One hand comes off they keyboard, touches a band of red cloth, tied around the upper guard of his arm, like a knight's favor. Damaged some, after these years, but still there.

"This ends badly, we both get integrated into the world, the doppelgangers? Or whatever they're called? I'll still come find you."

"Another cycle or another...I can wait that long." The perspective of The Man Who Can Never Die is an odd thing. Sometimes it's so impossibly short, because he knows how short life is for everyone else. But at times like this, it can get impossibly long, longer than even he would be able to see out.

Jack clicks one last doomed move, and the black king tips over on the screen. His eyes close reverently for a moment, and he stands up from the keyboard.

"I'll see you, Chiaki." Because he has to say it.

"Goodbye."
