Then not so long after that he died in the line of duty. They were too late to save him and that was when she learned that death was not a joke anymore. People were dying and Heroes were falling. Darres had been in the Crystal Stasis and possibly sacrificed in all the battles. Selen grew tired of having pointless battles happened but there wasn't much she could do in the matter.
She saw Terra from the window and the door was then pulled opened moments later for Terra. Selen had always been kind to the girl, since she was rather fond of Terra, even if they didn't socialize a lot. They often did things quietly together and that was all that mattered in the end. The silence sometimes was also welcoming and she smiled lightly at the girl.
Her only other housemate was either out or mulling over similar things.
Terra had been fragile lately, and Selen knew why. She could understand the sadness that plagued her. She nodded her head, "Yes, I am. Would you like to come in for some tea?" she mused giving her a softer expression as she offered her opened arms to Terra, if she needed to be embraced.

Terra gave the woman a soft nod and then stepped closer. The young Esper was never the hugging type which was perhaps why her and Sephiroth got along so well but this time she wanted the embrace. She wanted to feel warmth because her heart felt so cold. Albel had been helping but she felt awful for leaning on him all the time.
"How are you?"
It was so much easier to focus on someone else. Terra wasn't sure what she could say to Selen. Each day she felt more and more like a monster.

The former General had been rather fond of those kinds of small gestures, thus she offered them to those she cherished. It was her way of comforting them to the best of her abilities. Sometimes words were impossible.
"I've been managing. You seem to be rather distraught if you don't mind the honesty," she replied as she patted the girl's head before letting her go, "Why don't we go inside? I'll make tea and something for us to snack on."
no subject
She really didn't know what to say so she was going to settle with the truth.
"I am." Her voice was soft. "We've just lost... so many people."
It was hard to say chipper and have hope when so many horrible things were happening. Terra had Albel to lean on but that didn't stop the world from turning or bad things to happen.

"Would you like anything to eat?" she mused giving Terra a look over her shoulder. Since she was already making tea anyway. She supposed offering to make her a meal would do as well.
"Yes, I can understand that. It's a natural reaction. We aren't dolls."
She replied nodding her head to Terra's words. It really was and Selen was also in the same boat. Her demeanor had been more or less serious since this whole ordeal started.

She wasn’t sure what else to say but she had come here seeking some sort of comfort. “Selen?” Her tone was soft and her fingers remained laced in her lap.
“What have you been up too?” It wasn’t the question she meant to ask but it would work.

She sits across from Terra and looks up when the girl calls her name.
"Mm?"
She waits a moment before speaking, "Well, there has been a lot of changes. I've been more less keeping an eye out on everything and perhaps finding a better outcome for all of this."
She replied looking at her mug. Selen's expression became somewhat serious.

She enjoyed talking to the woman however she wasn't sure if she could talk about herself right now.
"Do you think we can really do that?" It wasn't that Terra didn't have hope but it was difficult to see a brighter future now.
no subject
The offer stood If she wished to speak to Selen about anything, but she wouldn't be upset if Terra decided to keep to herself.
"I think so. I want to believe so. There has to be some way, despite all that is happening. Even if it has to be a bit extreme, it's better than standing idly as everything crumbles, don't you agree?"
no subject
"I want to do something too... but I don't know what."
Everything felt very hopeless.
no subject
"That is the number one question. There isn't much we can work off of for the time being. However, I'll keep looking around. Please let me know if you find anything and I'll let you know as well."
It did but Selen didn't want to think that everything was hopeless. That was not acceptable for her.
no subject
"I will."
She looked towards the window and then took another sip of her tea. Her glass was almost empty and as time lingered she felt as if she should go. She didn't feel comfortable being away from her normal routine for long. It was something small but she clung to it as if it might save her some measure of heartache.
no subject
"That's good to hear. I'll always be here if you ever need anything. Please don't be shy. We've been friends for a while now haven't we?"
She replied sipping the warm tea as she reiterated again.
no subject
"Thank you for tea Selen." She looked up and stood. "I should be going though."
Another smiled.
"I promise I'll be back."
no subject
"You're very welcome and alright, please take care on your way back."
She mused before adding, "Certainly. I will be expecting you. Perhaps, dinner next time or tea and snacks?"
no subject
Terra smiled as she stepped towards the door. She paused for a moment looking back at Selen with a warm but worried smile. "I'll make sure to stay longer." There would always be time or at least Terra hoped so.
"Thank you again." With that as her final goodbye she slipped from the others house.
