Summary: The Heroes of Light have a vision-- They are living through a hypothetical future where the Sage share his knowledge with them, and things went horribly wrong as some Heroes of Light became the villains in this timeline. Maybe they'll revise their thoughts on getting all of that knowledge.
Warning: The apocalypse, deaths, tragedies, overall a lot of very bad things.

Calamity Spawn Fight | Closed to Yuna, Rikku & Tidus

“Think of it this way. At least it’s not the Thunder Plains.”

If it weren’t for what it represented, the crystal fractals might have been pretty. Instead, they just felt like death. Tidus already had his sword drawn out, in case anything appeared to attack. It felt like, more than ever, that the Calamity was already happening and this? Was just freefall. He occasionally glanced over at Rikku or Yuna, before looking ahead again.

“So what exactly are we looking for? Besides things that could potentially kill us.”

“You ever gonna let me live that down, Mr. smarty shorts?”

The words were playful – Rikku knew Tidus was just trying to lighten the mood. Having him here made her feel a thousand times better – even if things had been…odd, for some stupid reason. She was never one to stop trying. Everything was sure to, make itself right, in the end.

So the rouge may have exaggerated about the area, certainly her research and rumors had all pointed to this being a pivotal area in relation to the calamity. Only… she may have entirely made up attempting to come here alone already and being attacked by a giant fiend to get them both to agree to come together.

Gloved fingertips tapped together in a wave, feeling both guilty and not-guilty at the same time while walking along Yuna’s side to guard her from the flank and back. “Um. Look for anything out of the ordinary…well, that’s super weirdo in this weirdy place.”

Yuna looked uneasy for most of the trip, though true to her nature she would have denied any inquiries into it. If she had her way, she would have stayed behind, worried about what her presence in battle might mean for Tidus -- but even more worried about what her absence might reveal.

But it was hard to be sombre around Rikku, and she couldn't help but sound an airy chuckle at her cousin's comment. "Are you sure... the fiend was out here?" The area gave her the chills, she didn't link wandering into places where the Calamity shone strong, its crystallized nature more spooky than serene.

Her question was answered with a loud crash, stopping the summoner in her tracks. Instinctively, she threw a look at both of her guardians, and nod -- as she broke into a run towards the commotion.

Coming to the edge of a decline in the earth, which took Yuna by surprise as she made an attempt to skid to a stop, dangerously close to the edge. Below, the calamity spawn thrashed and wailed -- its shape uncomfortably reminiscent to a Sin Spawn.

"Probably not," Tidus was quick to retort, finding it easy to fall back into teasing the fellow blond. He was glad Rikku was there. Things weren't...as bad as they had been with Yuna, but there was a different kind of awkward atmosphere, unanswered questions and unspoken thoughts between them. Rikku's cheerfulness did a lot to dissolve some of the tension. Yep. They were just on another, normal mission. No love confessions or hurt feelings.

If he could just pretend things were normal, and focus on the fiend. He nodded, fully agreeing with Rikku's accurate description of this weird place that looked like something out of a hallucination or dream. Hearing the loud crash, he withdrew his sword, ready to protect his summoner, and help his fellow guardian, when Yuna started running toward the source of the sound. Of course he sprinted after her.

"I guess that's our fiend!" He yelled, nearly missing the edge and holding an arm in front of Yuna in hopes of convincing her to take a step back, when his eyes drifted to the calamity spawn. Almost instantly, an uncomfortable feeling seized his chest, making him go numb, before an adrenaline-induced fury combined with exasperation took over.

"Are you serious right now?!"

Nose scrunching up, a silly face is aimed for the back of their vanguard's head when he's turned away so only Yuna could see. Stupid astrophobia. "Oh yeah, just wait I'll show you!" Someday she'd get over it and then...then...well he'd probably be happy for her, actually. She'd make him buy her a treat!

Lips half parted at Yuna's question, the sound of the fiend silenced the reply brewing. Just as well, since it was the kind of made up garbage the Al Bhed's pop dealt in. What's not ok is the sight of the horror down below when the shortest of the trio falls in line, and the brightly colored girl recoils appreciably. Of course she lied about a giant fiend and there was one.

And of course her cousin ran after it head first and nearly plummeted to her death!

"Yeesh!" Gloved hands move before her, waving in the air "On second thought, everything I need is prolly just in the opposite direction!" Yet while saying those words of retreat, she's crouching down, claw at the ready. Back far enough from the edge for there to be a light bounce in feathery steps. At the uncharacteristic outburst there's a blink, as Rikku glances up and over at her fellow guardian with open concern.

His arm stopped her just in time -- he had always been faster than her. Everything about this trek so far had been so unforgivably... nostalgic. And right. Stopping, her staff in front of her as she looked down at the Calamity Spawn, her brow knit tightly together... she had heard of these before, sure that the three of them together would be enough to take it...

... until Tidus' small outburst. Oh no, Yuna went briefly cold inside, not now. Shooting a look over towards her cousin, it was as good as a confession that she knew something was happening with him -- while at the same time begging Rikku not to question it.

"S... stand back," she moved to side-step Tidus' arm, "I'll summon!"
