[Too far forward to really make it there in time to help Aang and those on the airship, he could only attack the WEAPON itself. Though with his multi-target abilities not nearly as effective, it was time to try something else.

With all the firepower being concentrated on the left arm, he too decides to press his luck up close and cast Break on the limb of the WEAPON.]

FIRE!

[Even though she was equipped with the Dragoon and Ninja jobs, Saori was focused on helping the rest of the crew fire and reload their shots. When she heard Twilight Sparkle ask for help, she looked up and shouted over the booms.]

We could always use runners to get ammo ready but any form of support is much appreciated! Healing, extra fire power and status buffs too, just in case.

[She looked out to check on the Heroes outside and their target.]

If you can, keep an eye out on them too just in case they...well you know.

The Libra cast on the left side reveals the exactly same information it revealed for the right side, only this time on the left side.

The combined attacks of all the Heroes of Light did manage to shake off the WEAPON’s grip on Chiaki and her robot, though it still left her with half her health only. The turret was heavily damaged by the attacks, but still clinging on to “life” with barely energy left. At least, it stopped attacking Aang as it was unable to. The quicksand did nothing to swallow the WEAPON, but it did keep its movement slowed down, making it somewhat easier to dodge the attacks. All in all, the left side started to show signs it was weakened, especially since most attacks had been focusing on it.

However, in a strange turn of event… Rather than pressing its advantage and finishing off what Heroes are wounded or having difficulties dodging the attacks, the WEAPON executed absolutely no attacks this turn. It was as if it had frozen. Perhaps the combined attacks of all the Heroes were wearing it down? Or maybe…

Left Side

[The core of Ultima WEAPON is charging up for an augmented Ultima spell. It will use its C. Flare skill the counterattack anyone attacking it regardless of their type of attack, dealing heavy damages to the attacker and medium damages to anyone near them.

If both sides are still active when the countdown reaches 0, all Heroes of Light will die. If one side is still active when the countdown reaches 0, the might of the Ultima spell will be triple that of a regular one. If both sides are down when the countdown reaches 0, the might of the Ultima spell will be that of a regular one.

The crystalline heart at the core of Ultima Weapon is glowing, but this is the only cue there is as to what’s happening. For this unique occasion, the Ultima spell will be learnable by Blue Mages once it’ll go up in three turns.]

Magitek Turret

[The Magitek Turret self-destructs, glowing red for two seconds beforehand. Anyone in its immediate vicinity will suffer severe damages, whereas anyone within a ten-feet radius of the turret will suffer mid to low damages depending on their positioning.]

Furthermore, Bartz’s attempt to steal from the WEAPON shall eventually yield one positive result:

Stolen: Ultima Weapon
A glowing sword made of blue mythril in the middle and surrounded by transparent crystal.
It grows more powerful with each Job the user has maxed and the lower their health is.

[Well, that didn't bode well. Racing to the other side of the deck as the rope ladder, she grunted as the force of the blast sent her against the opposite railing. Yet with that intel on the left arm and seeing its weakened state after the numerous attacks against it, she didn't pause to summon any program just yet. Instead she opted to take out her tome again, casting Flare on the left side.]

[Sonic came to a skidding stop as the weakened left arm released Chiaki. He cocked an eyebrow as he noticed that the machine didn't attack them... but the core was glowing.]

Something's not right...!

[Once more, he charged for the left arm and performed a Homing Attack, only to be struck away with the Claw counterattack, skidding across the muddy ground.]

...owowowow...

[Chrom is still trying to figure this thing out. TOO BAD HE ISN'T A TACTICIAN HO HO HO. What he does know is that attacking it now seems to result in a vicious counterattack, and that one of his allies isn't doing so well. Keeping Sentinel up in place, he lowers his sword and thrusts his left hand forward in Chiaki's direction.]

Cura!

[The healing magic washes over her and her robot bunny as Chrom grips his sword in both hands once more, prepared to take any attacks aimed at his fellow Heroes.]

[Selphie was within range of the turret when it used self-destruct. She realized it too late.]

HIT THE DECK!!!!

[Selphie pressed herself as flat to the ground as she could muster but it wasn't enough as she was sent flying backwards from the recoil. She flies back a good hundred feet and lands with a sickening thud before rolling to a stop. She's still conscious but just barely as her hands clench lightly.

Her back and arms are a bright, blistering red from burns as she tries to concentrate on casting Cura on herself.]

Chiaki, on the other hand, is pretty sure she knows what's going on here. Now freed from the energy prison, she's able to concentrate on watching the battle. And after seeing Lucrecia's Flare go unanswered, followed by Sonic suffering a counterattack, she has an idea of what's probably happening.

"It's changed its attack pattern. Hit the left side with magic. The right side is probably the opposite, so try physical on it. That's a pretty common boss fight trope on console RPGs."

Every so often, her gaming ways come in handy. And now that she's back up, feeling refreshed from Chrom's healing, and still under the effects of Haste, she lets loose with a Magitek Laser against the left side and a Magitek Missile on the right. That should confirm her theory.

"...Yup, that's it. Give it all you've got, everyone!"

Rukia nodded her head, shifting her stance. "Understood," she said, eyes narrowed on the target. She pulled back Yuki in exchange for her velociraptor, Kashikoiko. The dinosaur clicked in anticipation, hunkering low before it bolted forward, feet pounding the rain-slicked grass. It leaped at the right side with a Shield Bash, flinging itself physically against the enemy.

And dropping back to the ground with a frustrated squawk as it kicked its legs to get back to its feet. Once it was upright, its tail lashed, ready to strike again at Rukia's command.

Got it!

[That attack hurt, but there was no affording to slow down now. Johnny didn't have much in the way of magic between Dragoon and Dark Knight, so that meant letting loose a Dragon Breath spell on the left side.]

Good.

[Physical attacks were much more satisfying than magic to Sparks, and right now he had a lot of aggression to let out. Never mind that fact that almost all of his Paladin and Magitek Knight attacks were magic based. Time to let the right side have it with a barrage of Smash Attacks from his armor.]

Oh, very well.

[Jade took some nasty burns from the Flare that hit Tear, but nothing that required immediate attention. The accusation of idiocy was only met with a smile and a raised eyebrow. At least he wasn't the biggest idiot here.

More importantly -- the fact the WEAPON stopped attacking is worrying, but Chiaki is probably right. They can't give the enemy time to recover. He'd better get as many attacks off as possible before he has to start healing again.

Jade proceeds to cast Holy twice on the left side. The spell is more accurate than Ultima and more powerful than his other elemental magic, making it the best choice.]

[ Seeing the core glow, Tear understood at once that there was no more time to waste. Taking a moment to first cast Cura on Jade in gratitude for his help, and to of course keep him standing, she closes her eyes to concentrate again.

This time she delivered Soul Voice and therefore doubled the effects of the already useful Boss Theme, melding the two songs together. From here she intended to put her efforts into carrying the two songs for as long as possible, unless the need for different one arose.

The endeavour would take immense willpower, which she fortunately had. Still, she opens her eyes to keep a careful lookout for anyone who might need more healing spells. ]

[Cloud was elated as his attack helped to free Chiaki, but he didn't like the way the Ultima Weapon shifted its position one bit. He had seen enough of ShinRa's military mechs in action to know it was building up to something big. Briefly he recalled one of the guard mechs, one designed with a scorpion in mind. He could never remember if it was primed to counter attack if it had its tail up or if it was another mode.

Chiaki's voice pulls him back, again thankful that she's okay, but the command call calms him. Chiaki may be a bit weird, but he's never doubted her. He has good allies on his side, and together they CAN do this.]

You got it!

[Being on its left side already he's saved some time getting into position.]

Alright, let's see how much power we can put into this.

[He throws switches, presses buttons, bypasses a safety, and then pulls the trigger on the elemental beam. The air around the magitek armor begins to crackle and smell of ozone as the maw opens once more and sparking energy charges at the cannon barrel. A few seconds more and a bright sparking beam of electricity arcs out, blasting at the Ultima Weapon's left side!]

TAKE THIS!

[Vincent didn't bother replying to any of the various calls. He was familiar enough with monsters that had this kind of tactic, that Chiaki's warnings made sense. Being short on magic, he'd have to move to the right-side.

Easier to do with the ninja-job equipped, as both clones activated Smoke Bomb to vanish then reappear closer to the right side. Taking up a new position, Vincent and his clone made themselves ready to dodge while also preparing a Charge shot so when they did fire, it would do more damage.]

[Well.

That's unfortunate.

Pyrrha happened to be standing on the turret when it self-destructed. She may be an expert at dodging single strikes, and her semblance allows for some amazing last second saves, but it's hard to get out of the way of an explosion when you're at ground zero.

She's thrown back from the concussive force of the blast and burned rather badly as she hits the ground near the Heroes' rear line. Her chocobo was spared most of the damage since she'd vaulted from its back, and runs over to check on her.]

Xanthus... I-I'm all right. I can't stop here.

[Planting her spear into the ground and using it as a prop to struggle up to her feet, Pyrrha activates her aura and begins to slowly recover the damage from the blast. She's still heavily injured, but at least she's not totally down for the count. This is about all she can manage for the momeny, though.]

Magic on the left side, got it!

[Levy's got magic in spades, between Scholar and her Custom Job. Her quicksand is still at work slowing the WEAPON's movements, so it's time to hit the left with another Flare to follow up Lucrecia's attack from before.]

Take this!

[ It is rather fortunate that the Weapon temporarily ceases to function after its first turn, or he wouldn't be able to react, still reeling from the physical shock the Shadow Flare brought upon his body. Everything hurts, and it's only thanks to the swiftness of the healing spell that Ace is still able to stand upright. Trying to recover in between heavy breaths, he glances over at his companions to make sure they're safe, a satisfying smile twisting his lips despite the pain. All in all, this supposed act of idiocy seems to have succeeded. ]

Hah... There it goes.

[ Chiaki's instruction reaches him just in time for another attempt. As soon as he's able, he fires a Thundaga at the Weapon's left side, mentally preparing himself for the summoning in the meantime. While he could potentially retaliate with the very same spell he's been hit by, relying on a Dark element doesn't seem like the wisest idea right now. ]

[For a brief second he was glad that he was able to help someone for a change, yet watching Sonic's attack be countered by the otherwise motionless limb and the glowing core... Well, he'd seen enough action in both the real thing's memories and his own to know where this was going.

Shit. When were they ever going to come up with something original for a change?

Rolling his eyes, he casts a single Cure spell on Sonic before turning and rushing so he'd be able to continue attacking the right side.]

[It's a good job that wielding Masamune effectively requires at least a standard six to eight feet, so that as soon as Sephiroth is ready to deliver his next attack the red glowing in the seconds before the turret's detonation gives him a second longer to jump back.

The blast radius still catches him, propelling him away from the Ultima Weapon itself, but at least the damage isn't very lethal. Not compared to Selphie who he saw land a ways away. Sephiroth is knocked to his knees for the most part and skidded along in the mud but the most damage is really to the state of his uniform.

At least being this far back for a few seconds gives him the wide-angle view that clearly indicates some ominous glowing being charged up in that core potion of the colossus before them. Alongside the physical/magical split that many of the Heroes are quick to take up in response.

The grip around his sword is tightened, and it doesn't take much to glance around for those Esdham warriors nearest his position before launching a Dash more directly for that right side and then opening with a swift flurry of chained attacks. He combines this technique with Excalibur's ending each combination but not so much as to completely exhaust his energy. Combat Mode certainly helps to draw energy out for longer but the last thing Sephiroth wants is to be flash-in-the-pan.

With any luck, those warriors should also take the cue to charge.]

[Deadpool balked as he found himself caught up in the quicksand Levy put down...]

H-Hey! Can't you see I'm chopping...

[Before that turret went off, sending him flying]

...HEEEEEERE?!

[Coming down on the ground, Deadpool couldn't help but sputter and cough.]

Haa.... not... not dead yet. Nanomachines, son. Oooookay, plan C... what's Plan C...?

[Mary grimaces as the battle goes on. While the other Heroes had done a good job of assaulting the turret, her ship hadn't gone without damage. It was still solid and could still fly, but another two hits like it had just taken and she's sure she'd have to put it down.

As she brings the ship about she observes the battlefield below. Something is changing. Not just the way the WEAPON has shifted, no, that's clear and ominous on its own, she also notes how everyone is unifying their attacks on one target or another.

She narrows her eyes as she watches, gathering the scope of it.]

Huh, is that it?

[Her ship is a small one, able to carry a fair group, but not outfitted for a big battle such as this. Still, there's enough armament on board for another pass. If only she had the heavy shot that a proper frigate could unleash.

Spinning the wheel she brings the ship around to the right side. She watches carefully, not wanting to get anyone caught in the blast. Of course, the airship moving into position is a pretty obvious signal that something is about to happen.]

Fire when clear! Make this count!

PYRRHA!

[Oh, darn it all! Ruby had been too focused on other things that she forgot Pyrrha was around! She rushed to her friend's side, throwing herself in front of her.]

Are you okay? Don't worry, I got your back!

[With that, she swapped out the energy blade for Crescent Rose. Quickly, she performed Mirage Dive using the clones to attack the right arm.]

[Selphie is still struggling to get back on her feet as she finally manages to push herself into an upright position. Every muscle in her upper body is screaming in protest as she glares hotly at the WEAPON in front of her. She's in no shape to move on her own without heavy healing but there's a power rippling inside of her.

There's a rush of adrenaline that has the perky brunette scrambling to her feet as the power that she doesn't feel very often is burbling up. Selphie's hands are shaking as she struggles to stay standing. She thrusts her hands out in front of her. She'll aim for the left arm after seeing magic attacks being aimed at it. It's her limit break, Slot.]

Take this! Thundaga!

[Selphie falls to the earth soon afterwards and tries to work on that Cura spell again.]

[ Sheena and her clone had been running to give Deadpool a hand when the concussion of the turret exploding sent both of them flying--to behind the WEAPON. Well now, that's a new view for the ninja as she lay on the ground looking up and sporting a few new abrasions and sore muscles. Not to mention a headache that was making her vision slightly blurry. Guardian couldn't protect her from things like that, but she knows how to get around that little problem. ]

Ow...

[ Both her and her clone rise painfully, and knowing one--or both--may be taking a risk--each of them slaps a Life Seal and Spirit Seal on the back of either leg, restoring some of their health and mana while taking the same amount of the WEAPON's in the process.

Such a sneaky, hidden, absorbing pair of ninja, aren't they? ]

[ ooc: I'm not sure if this is a magic or physical attack, or both, since the spell is inscribed in the seal, but she has to touch for them to work. ]
